Burma

[edit]

Okay, I have created Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Burma. I have added you along with added 18 other users (including myself) to the list of involved parties. The ones I have listed are ones who have commented recently, or who commented on the Mediation Cabal case (except if they solely made a neutral comment). If you disagree with me listing you there, remove yourself from it if you wish. If you feel someone else should be involved, add/ask them. I hope those I have added are alright though. I also hope this step is what finally ends this dispute! Deamon138 (talk) 00:38, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you move this article to an improperly titled article? roguegeek (talk·cont) 01:02, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because of two reasons: a) the article is about Motorcyles, plural and many, so it should be pluralized, and B) because Motorcycle is the main subject and should be capitalized as per other wikipedia articles. Hooper (talk) 01:47, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is 100% incorrect. roguegeek (talk·cont) 06:37, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

D&D articles for Wikipedia 0.7

[edit]

Hi there!  :)

As someone who's worked on D&D and/or RPG articles before, I'm inviting you to participate in our goal to both improve articles that have been selected to be placed in the next Wikipedia DVD release, as well as nominate more to be selected for this project. Please see the WikiProject D&D talk page for more details. :) BOZ (talk) 04:12, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject: Dungeons & Dragons

[edit]

Hi! I’ve been working on a lot of ‘’Dungeons & Dragons’’ articles lately and saw that you were a member of WikiProject Dungeons & Dragons), and am inviting you to rejoin Wikipedia’s D&D group. I've been hard at work removing tags placed inappropriately on D&D articles, as well as modifying articles to remove tags that were placed legitimately. In addition, I have been compiling related articles together so that the articles are longer, making it easier to remove tags and to have short articles on lesser topics by just putting it into another appropriate article (links to such compiled articles can be found on my userpage). Check out the project here , and ask any questions that you may have here. Thank you for your time. Drilnoth (talk) 20:38, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Hooper, did you ever get that link I posted on the D&D talk page? It might have gotten lost in the shuffle with all the other activity going on. If you can't find it, I'll try to dig it up again. BOZ (talk) 16:58, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and thanks. I'm using it and another couple I found thru DandDwiki.com. Wikipedia is now blocked at work (sadly) but I'm slowly working on the lists. Should have them done in a couple weeks tops I think. Thanks again.Hooper (talk) 17:15, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Highlander: The Series (season 2)

[edit]

Hello, there. To answer your question, I think this information rather belongs to the character's page and to Highlander: The Series and Highlander (franchise). This is just a technical article about the season and it's a list, so it's supposed to be short and straight to the point. But there's plenty of space to discuss Joe elsewhere, I assure you ;D As a side note, please post your comments on my main talk page and not on the subpage's talk, because for some reason I don't get an alert then. I only saw your message because I watch the page. Have a nice day, Rosenknospe (talk) 10:57, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That does make alot more sense. And I'll keep that in mind. For some reason I was under the impression we got alerted when a userpage of ours was changed, so thats good to know. Hooper (talk) 14:41, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AN/I Notice

[edit]

Hello, HooperBandP. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding the dispute between the Dungeons & Dragons WikiProject and Gavin.collins. Thank you. -- BOZ (talk) 18:56, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gavin.collins RFC/U

[edit]

Hello. A request for comment on user conduct has recently been filed regarding Gavin.collins. Since you have been involved in the dispute regarding his disruptive edits, I thought that you would want to know. You can see the RFC/U here. Thank you. -Drilnoth (talk) 21:57, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for endorsing one or more summaries in the RFC. Please note that two proposals have been put forward on how we can move on after the RFC: Casliber's proposal and Randomran's proposal. Please take the time to look over these proposals, and consider endorsing one of them, or writing one of your own. Thanks again for your participation! BOZ (talk) 03:23, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, I am LOVING your continued attempts to rid us of this non-notable band. You might want to consider bundling the articles on their EPs and albums in with the AfD too. Cheers buddy! sparkl!sm hey! 16:27, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I can't quite figure out why, but the deletion page seems incorrect. There is no header, or link to the deletion page from the AfD pages - see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2008_December_29. There's no header to BrokeNCYDE, so it kinda merges into the discussion above. I tried to fix but don't know how!! sparkl!sm hey! 18:13, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Hooper. I closed your most recent deletion nomination for this band. It's generally frowned upon to renominate an article so soon after a previous closure. It gives the impression you're trying to game the system. Please submit it to deletion review instead.- Mgm|(talk) 22:49, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability template

[edit]

Yes, except that the template doesn't actually say that WP:FICT is policy - it says "This article may not meet the general notability guideline or one of the following specific guidelines for inclusion on Wikipedia..." As such I'd say that a link to FICT - even though it's proposed - is probably better than linking straight to WP:NOTE. (Either that or remove the fiction link from the template completely, but that'd need consensus). Black Kite 22:14, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Remooned, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Sceptre (talk) 18:12, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that; I reverted your edit by accident while trying to revert another article. While I don't agree with you, it shouldn't be classed as vandalism. Sceptre (talk) 18:14, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kiellor and Prufrock

[edit]

Your wiki-parody using "Prufrock" at [[1]] was great, you should frame it. I agree with your interpretation that Kiellor was saying high-brow art is the reason for low-brow public taste, and with your argument that Wikipedia has too many intellectual snobs. Unfortunately the material after "Prufrock really is WP:TLDR. I suggest you: summarise that to 2 fairly short paras; put the "Prufrock" parody in a right-floated div (with border, & poss bg colour) at the top of the section, so the height of the whole lot is not too daunting.

Wrong guy. I just commented below it. Pixelface is who you're looking for. Hooper (talk) 14:20, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, you're right. It is great but my eyes unfocussed by the end. --Philcha (talk) 14:32, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

israel-gaza talk page edit

[edit]

Hello, On your edit on the israel-gaza conflict talk page, quite a bit of other conversation was lost, though I am sure it was unintentional. I reverted the edit but added your response where it was. Thanks, Nableezy (talk) 08:17, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, wow. Thanks alot. Didn't catch that. Hooper (talk) 14:38, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hooper, thank you for taking the time to comment on WT:Notability_(fiction)#Final_adoption_as_a_guideline. I am glad you see how important this guideline will be, since it will determine the inclusion or exclusion of television character and television episodes. Ikip (talk) 22:36, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Actually, even though I opposed this version, I would like to see something governing fictional elements. Its just that this form is so vague it frightens me how less-than-virtuous users may use it. Hooper (talk) 04:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Just wanted to say Hi, after having passed my recent Request for adminship. How's everything going?

I don't know if you've been around in a while, but I'd like to point out to you the success we've had with the D&D GA-drive so far: Gary Gygax, Wizards of the Coast, Dragons of Despair, Drizzt Do'Urden, Forgotten Realms, Tomb of Horrors, Dwellers of the Forbidden City, White Plume Mountain, The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, Planescape: Torment, Dragonlance, and Against the Giants, and we plan to hit Dave Arneson and Drow (Dungeons & Dragons) after some work. :)

If you're interested in coming around to check out what we've been up to, you are welcome as always. :) BOZ (talk) 17:38, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Long time no hear! :) Have you seen this? Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2009-09-21/WikiProject report BOZ (talk) 12:47, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Great job guys. You guys really have done a great deal with the project. I've been mainly over at D&Dwiki as of late. Hooper (talk) 20:46, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I moved a comment of yours that was in the section following the outlaw motorcycle club discussion. I think it was meant for that discussion. My apologies if this was wrong. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 14:24, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:DnDwikilogo.png)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:DnDwikilogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 01:00, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is currently being used in userspace under fair use, and I noted that file. Hooper (talk) 19:01, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

D&D wikiproject

[edit]

Come on by and see what's been going on lately. :) 24.148.0.83 (talk) 20:35, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is United States and state terrorism. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/United States and state terrorism (9th nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Methos.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Methos.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NickContact/Contribs 18:10, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of OMGcon

[edit]

A tag has been placed on OMGcon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Jminthorne (talk) 06:58, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there HooperBandP, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:HooperBandP/Sandbox. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.
