Wp Latin

Hi, thanks for joining the WikiProject. I think the barnstar is a great design and we can use it as the real thing! 95jb14 (talk) 13:05, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm glad I could help. Tell me if you need anything else done - though I'm no expert, I'll certainly try! It's a great cause. - I.M.S. (talk) 16:09, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Assessments

I wondered if you'd consider joining the Assessments department back at WP Latin, as a member. This basically means you and any other member of the Department are more dedicated to assessing them. I ask because I notice you have been doing a lot of assessing recently! 95jb14 (talk) 12:44, 27 September 2009 (UTC).

Sure, I'd love to! How do I sign up? Right now I've been tagging a lot of articles, but once all the Latin articles have been tagged and categorized, I'll move on to directly improving the pages themselves. I just feel that is what the top priority for the WikiProject is right now - what do you think? Anyway, thanks for asking me to join the department - anything I can do to help, be that classifying of just plain editing. I.M.S. (talk) 15:31, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
I've added my name to the list... I.M.S. (talk) 15:34, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
I feel we should tag them first, otherwise we have any articles to edit! :) 95jb14 (talk) 19:10, 28 September 2009 (UTC).

Assessments

Yes, I did have an importance scale but somehow in the process I completely screwed verthing on the banner up by trying to include the one with 'No', 'bottom' etc. so I just got rid of it for another time. If you could arrange one I would like it if we could have the full set of Importance and Quality (g. File, Disambig, Cat, Current). Any way got to go. See you tommorrow, thanks! 95jb14 (talk) 19:57, 28 September 2009 (UTC).

I've added it - everything should now work with adding importance! I.M.S. (talk) 20:09, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
The talk page for the WP:Latin homepage should be marked as project but it is coming up as NA, I wondered whether you could do anything? 95jb14 (talk) 17:26, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Sure! I'll get to work I.M.S. (talk) 22:47, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Fixed it! Darn - it took me a while to find out what was wrong. It turns out that on the template form, the "quality" section's "scope" area was set to "full". I switched it to "extended", and that seems to have done it. This was the part that was adjusted:
  • |QUALITY_SCALE = extended (this was changed from "full")
  • |class=
  • |importance=
  • |attention=
  • |ATTENTION_CAT =

RE: AIV report

Hello! Just dropping by to thank you for your recent AIV report. I certainly welcomed the information! :) Just as a request for future reports, though; would you mind using the format of {{vandal}}? Thanks! :) Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:32, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Sure - I'll make sure to use that template in the future. I.M.S. (talk) 00:47, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Alright, much appreciated. Cheers, Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 01:28, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Barnstar

I've officiated the barnstar you made for WP Latin. We also reached our 100th article today (Latin Grammar). Perhaps we ought to get a paper set up. Just thought I'd let you know. 95jb14 (talk) 16:03, 10 October 2009 (UTC).

Thanks for telling me!
I was recently thinking of setting up a "collaboration" area on the main page - do you think that's a good idea? It would along the lines of

This Month's Collaboration - "Classical Latin"

  • Add your name to the list below if interested in joining

  2. Example
  3. Example

Goals (add one if you like, strike if accomplished):

  • General cleanup and maintenance
  • Improve to an article worthy of GA-class stance
  • Take it to GAR and get it passed

-- I.M.S. (talk) 16:07, 10 October 2009 (UTC) It's a very good idea, maybe we can place it in a table or box, like a sidebar or something, it will work well. One other thing: We need to try and draw other users in, there are now four of us but there could be alot more. I was looking at Wikiads but I'm not sure... 95jb14 (talk) 18:08, 10 October 2009 (UTC).

Sasata (talk) 20:05, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

About that DYK suggestion, I think the hook was not only too long but also not really about the album but the single. I hope you don't mind that I wrote a new one. Regards SoWhy 22:33, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

I appreciate your caring for the hook, however, a similar one was recently featured on the front page about Konk, as well as the "recent success" bit. I liked the old one about the guitars, and Calmer Waters agreed that it was alright to keep the link to Lola versus Powerman. The hook was still under 200 characters in that version. If you could change it back before it gets to the front page, I would appreciate it. Many thanks for your concern, - I.M.S. (talk) 22:37, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
In fact, if you can move it back to template talk, with the original image (which I would very much like to see as part of the hook) so it can be used at a later date, I would appreciate it. - I.M.S. (talk) 22:44, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I see. But you have to agree that the hook as it was previously was not about the album really but about Lola (song) (which does not mention those facts at all apparently), don't you? Do you think you could think of a hook that describes a fact about the album itself rather than the title track? Regards SoWhy 22:45, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree with you. Perhaps we should move it back so we can discuss this properly before adding it to Prep 1? I believe I can muster up another good hook from the album article. The reason I mentioned the guitars is that not only does it tie in with "Lola", but it also has to due with the sessions for the album itself and many, many, song to come in the future, and by adding the example of "Lola", I was mentioning the best known and most prominent example of it. I'm aware of the issue with the link, so perhaps we should change the original hook to accommodate the massive title. What do you think? - I.M.S. (talk) 22:52, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, but the hook focused on that song. Maybe you can bring Lola (song) to DYK instead later on? I have restored the nom to the template talk page now though. Regards SoWhy 22:58, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

I am currently writing a post for the template discussion page so we can see what others think on the subject. Many thanks for your time and understanding, SoWhy. - I.M.S. (talk) 23:02, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Sure, no problem. If you need anything else, feel free to ask anytime. Regards SoWhy 23:16, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I can see SoWhy's point. I offered two alts, one that addresses the direct but still focuses on the hook you wanted. The other about the album itself. If the second is approved it should be fairly easy to use the hook in the upcoming Lola song article. There appears to be an abundance of sources on the hit. Calmer Waters 01:42, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Shankar

Hi, I'll address the remaining issues soon. Regards Hekerui (talk) 00:58, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Many thanks! You've already done a great job on the article. Good luck! Once you've addressed the issues, I'll go on to the checklist. - I.M.S. (talk) 01:17, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I believe I addressed all points. Hekerui (talk) 13:06, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the review, I think the article is much better now. Hekerui (talk) 20:44, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Peer review

Hi, thanks for replying, and good luck in advance with the GA nomination for Lola versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One! In case you need more sources and haven't already checked out these sites, I just wanted to share a couple links with you. First, a collection of reviews and "best-of" ratings at acclaimedmusic.net. Some of the links on that page may not qualify as a RS, but they could serve as a starting point to find a particular list at a more reliable place. Also, here is Thomas M. Kitts' book, Ray Davies: Not Like Everybody Else at Google Books, which seems to mention the album a lot. Hope these might be helpful. Take care,  Gongshow Talk 01:40, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Hook promotion

First and foremost - thanks for helping at DYK. Assembling the DYK preps is a job which must be done, but for which we never get credits or thanks. Second, we all make mistakes there (I know no exceptions :), and I'll point to a few - this is not to discourage, only to help. (i) Some hooks are submitted for specific date, although I often see no reason why, in courtesy to the authors, it might be better to comply. (ii) When moving hooks to a prep area, I usually edit (and empty) one hook section at a time - this naturally leaves an easy-to-track log in the T:TDYK history. (iii) Please don't forget to delete hooks from T:TDYK after you promoted them to preps. Sorry that it might sound negative - did not mean to be so. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 23:25, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice, Materialscientist! This was my first try at arranging hooks in the prep areas - I'll attempt to do better next time. Regards, - I.M.S. (talk) 03:26, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Mtrs

Hello I.M.S., and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Mtrs - a page you tagged - because: A7 doesn't apply to schools. . Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. GedUK  15:33, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for alerting me. At the time I tagged it was a large unwikified article with some issues in formatting, and the article did not clearly state it was a school. Since then it has considerably improved. -I.M.S. (talk)

Hi there. I have posted a concern about The Kinks which you asked me to copy edit on the article's talk page. Could you please look there when you have some time and answer my questions? This is necessary for me to complete the editing. Thanks. --Mpdelbuono (talk) 02:40, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi again. Just letting you know I've completed the copy edit on The Kinks. It took me about 5 and a half hours, which is admittedly longer than I intended to, but it works out in the end. If you have any additional concerns please let me know. --Mpdelbuono (talk) 07:44, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
