Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Ibtida09. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page The 1989 World Tour, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Binksternet (talk) 20:07, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia exists for the purpose of summarizing published sources. The descriptions of tour stages and equipment should be supported by citations to articles that describe the stages and equipment. If you are supplying information that hasn't been published yet, then the information is not suitable for Wikipedia.
- You could cite a write-up in FOH magazine or Live Sound International, for instance, or any other industry publication. Binksternet (talk) 20:15, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Binksternet everytime I edited and inserted some important information I got blocked or my edits which were not vandalized or abusive at all, got deleted. my experience with Wikipedia edits at this point completely was rude and disrespectful. therefore it is true that Wikipedia is not people's free editing or writing. - I'm sorry you have had such a disappointing experience.
- I wrote in Wikipedia a description of the stage and equipment on Peter Gabriel's Secret World Tour in 1993. I supported this description with a detailed account of the tour gear in Sound on Sound magazine. That's the kind of sourcing you would need to describe Taylor Swift's video wall.
