User talk:Jarrod Quigley
July 2024
[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Ad Orientem (talk) 16:56, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Ad Orientem Hey, a heads up that this user, Jarrod Quigley, just spammed clearly baseless vandalism warnings on the talk pages of like 50+ users within 10 minutes 211.43.120.242 (talk) 11:46, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, quick addition to this. Upon reviewing this user's contributions, I found they had made 64 reversions across dozens of articles since July 1. They have also posted level 4 vandalism warnings on the talk pages of the users who made the edits they undid. While most of these reversions appear disruptive, one reversion was appropriate as it undid a vandalism edit by another user. However, the majority of the reversions were still disruptive. - @Ad Orientem: I wanted to bring to your attention that user @Jarrod Quigley: has continued their disruptive behavior. They recently removed a substantial, policy-based discussion from the Talk:Crystallizedcarbon page without explanation or justification. I have reverted this edit. You can see the edit history here. Given their history of disruptive editing that you previously warned them about, and this latest incident, I believe further administrative action may be necessary to prevent continued disruption. Thank you for your attention to this matter. ~~ 103.139.133.12 (talk) 13:40, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Maharashtra Legislative Council did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! —Alalch E. 13:16, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
@Ad Orientem: Please block this user until they show that they understand what vandalism is, that responding to edits in the form of legitimate updates to non-contentious items without providing a source (one of the most frequent things that happen on Wikipedia) is done by providing a source, by tagging, by asking the user to provide a source, by notifying them that sources must be provided in the future, and, possibly, by reverting, as a last resort, but not reverting in this way without an edit summary and without identifying the issue. The user should also show that they understand how to use user warnings. See User talk:94.154.22.52. That IP was performing updates to Polish articles which were unsourced, but appear to be factually correct, and were done in good faith. This is just one example. Please remember to:
- Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes
