Welcome!

Hey there JavaHurricane! I wanted to formally welcome you to Wikipedia. I saw you're a member of the hurricane WikiProject - so am I! I've been writing for 15 years, so if you need any assistance with your writing/editing, feel free to ask me, or any other users. I see you're interested in writing about the Western Pacific, which is great, since that's the most active basin, and has the most storm articles in need of work. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:26, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm interested in all basins, though I am currently working on Hagupit 2008 to improve its quality. I'll be going article by article to improve quality. --JavaHurricane (talk) 16:24, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good choice. Hagupit was a $1 billion storm. Do you need any help with the article? You're doing good work so far! :) ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:51, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Misuse of tools

You just misused tools to revert what was clearly not vandalism, as vandalism. Please revert yourself. https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Abdolhossein_Mokhtabad&diff=935861171&oldid=935861124

The uncited material was challenged and properly deleted per wp:verifiability.

--2604:2000:E010:1100:C1E7:B6B4:2BCE:4C5 (talk) 06:12, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, it appeared in Special:RecentChanges as a bad-faith edit. Will revert. It honestly looked like section blanking to me, but anyways. Sorry again. -- JavaHurricane 06:14, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Sometimes section blanking - especially in a blp, uncited - is appropriate. Frankly, the article even with that reverted still contains massive uncited claims, and puffery, worthy of excision. 2604:2000:E010:1100:C1E7:B6B4:2BCE:4C5 (talk) 06:16, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted my reversion. Please continue with your work. Sorry for the disruption. Welcome! -- JavaHurricane 06:17, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done. -- JavaHurricane 08:15, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing it so quickly. Honest mistake I understand. --2604:2000:E010:1100:701E:78B4:AA4D:262B (talk) 08:16, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling Edit

You reverted my correction of the spelling to "Chandra Rao Morey" in the page Shivaji‎. "More" doesn't match the pronunciation of the name. It's better represented by "Morey". Please revert your edit. SanghPracharak (talk) 06:17, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I won't as the correct name is "More". Marathi people write that name so, so it must be kept. -- JavaHurricane 06:26, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Observation

Hi. Just paraphrasing some of the observations above: "sometimes section blanking - especially in a blp, uncited - is appropriate". Frankly, the recent additions contained "massive uncited claims", and "puffery", worthy of excision. I am just reverting back to a former version "without issues". Regards.--Asqueladd (talk) 11:23, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am reverting to a version prior to this massive revamp that provided no sources on 11 January, where apparently those "issues" were not glaring enough to justify the template. If you think that version requires maintenance templates, make your case.--Asqueladd (talk) 11:29, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Sorry for the disruption, I was never aware about all this. I have actually been reverting some vandalism from Recent Changes, and this got classified by the filter as disruptive editing. Never knew the whole background. Sorry for the disruption, please carry on. Thanks. -- JavaHurricane 11:32, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you see, you have two quotes (') at the start of your signature which aren't replicated at the end in order to close the italics. That's also why the date and times are italicized after your signature here. — Iunetalk 20:01, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the reverted edit in Internet censorship in South Korea

I noticed you have reverted my edit in the article. While I would agree that deletion/editing an article would usually require discussion, the part I have deleted offered no sources at all(as detailed in the talk page the sources are not factual. In addition, regardless of them being factual or not, they are far from a credible source and/or features irrelevant information). Considering that the previous user have failed to provide any sources behind his/her claim, I strongly believe it should be considered as a OR(or vandalism even), and removed from the article.

Unless, that is, the original user is able to provide some information. Please note that someone else put a citations needed mark in 2019, and yet no improvements have been made, which leads me to believe that the user in question would not be returning to provide more valid sources.

180.64.105.65 (talk) 09:56, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If it is so, please remove the information per WP:OR. Thanks for informing me about this! -- JavaHurricane 09:59, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rvt

Just to let you know that by that revert you restored a vandalised version of the article. Specifically, you did not revert breaking the infobox. Please consider checking recent edits to articles you review and using "Restore this revision" feature in similar cases in future. Best, Tymon.r Do you have any questions? 13:50, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that is a massive error on my part. Must have clicked on the wrong button mistakenly. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for informing! -- JavaHurricane 14:16, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Florence

Hey there! I saw you were looking to tackle the article for Hurricane Florence. I commend you for considering such a big project! Big articles can be tricky, as they can seem endless, and there are too many sources to go through. I find it best to area by area, piece by piece. Even the aftermath can be endless, since plenty can happen after a storm. I recommend going through FEMA, which has a ton of aftermath info, and will also contain impacts. You might want to consider a dedicated article for Florence’s effects in NC, in case the article seems like it’ll be too long.

Good luck, happy editing, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 23:08, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hurricane

I am an amateur in Wikipedia and I got a message that says that the page I published is deleted because it is for advertising purposes.

Actually this page is meant to inform and not publicize about the company. May I know what can I change to not signify this please thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenaaliyah (talkcontribs) 04:09, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jenaaliyah, hello. I tagged your page because it was clearly promotional. You might want to read a few Wikipedia policies, such as WP:NPOV, WP:NOT, and others. Please note that Wikipedia's articles must be written in a neutral language, and articles about companies and organizations must be written such that the tone is not promotional, as Wikipedia's policies prohibit promotional pages about any person or organization. Well done. I'll beat you next time (just kidding) ;) but really, great job for your anti-vandalism, and thanks for halving my workload!

Hey The Lord of Math, thanks for your kind words! -- JavaHurricane 14:14, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I just went over our stats, and found that we actually share so much in common.
  1. We work in similar time zones (as far as your time card in XTools shows, you probably work in around UTC+6. This is great, as I work in UTC+8, and therefore it's easy to correspond to each other given our small time zone difference.
  2. We registered our accounts pretty much the same time (early Oct 2019) and received autoconfirmed status also around the same time (you got it on 27 Oct while I got in in early November).
  3. Our edit count exploded recently, hitting about 1200 edits per month on February.
  4. We both use Twinkle and SuggestBot. (!)
Anyway, it's glad to know we're similar in so many aspects, and we look forward to collaboration!
P.S. I've tried Wikiloop Battlefield. Huggle is similar (but requires rollback rights) and faster. Thanks! tLoM (The Lord of Math) (Message) 15:18, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Lord of Math, I love maths and physics as well, so that might be another similarity !-- JavaHurricane 17:19, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
By the way I believe that you'd be a great candidate for rollback rights on Wikipedia (see my essay on rollback). It allows for the use of several better tools - most notably Huggle and STiki. Administrators would probably be more than happy to grant the right to you! ~ tLoM (The Lord of Math) (Message) 02:45, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

Hi JavaHurricane. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! – Juliancolton | Talk 19:39, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion tagging

Please do not tag article drafts in User space for deletion as being writings unrelated to work on Wikipedia (see User:Mem271). It's an article draft! They are directly related to what we are trying to do here which is building an encyclopedia. Maybe this draft should be in a sandbox rather than on a User page but I can't understand why you thought this page was unrelated to our communal project. Liz Read! An article you recently created, List of Category 2 Atlantic hurricanes, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Dear sir, thanks for the promt reply regarding my article about my car, I understad that you was requesting (RS) reliable sources ( fully understandable ) . #1 Concerning technical data on the car , I presume present owner (my self) and registration certificate would be considered as RS.

Tom in Vastervik, first point: NEVER share personal information about others (like emails). Such things are strictly prohibited. Second point: your car isn't notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia since your car isn't mentioned in reliable sources independent of the subject. Dear Sir, so sorry abt my mistake , did not understand how "public" this chat was in fact, I'm new on Wikipedia and not that familiar with the language. Please note that this car is a part of British sportcar history, it's only builded in one example and not known to the public, it bin hidden away for more than 40 years, and now has my renovation of the car created curiosity in the motorworld , several magazine has asked to make reportage , and linked to this Wikipedia could be very helpful to get the fact's right. I personally love to check Wikipedia for fact's about odd items. So my humble question to you to reconsider your decision not to public an atricle in Wicipedia. Masked and Anonymous screenplay credits

On the Larry Charles page, it incorrectly attributes to him a pseudonym that Bob Dylan used and vice versa, names they chose for screenplay credits on Masked and Anonymous. I know this because while watching the Blu-ray of the film, Larry states in an interview extra who used what name. I corrected the page but received a note from you stating "it did not appear constructive." If correcting false information is no longer constructive for your site, I'll make sure not to bother next time. 172.90.84.211 (talk) 08:00, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

my contribution was very constructive as it removed inaccuracies about the designation of German ships. On what basis do you say it was not constructive?

Gosh, I had no idea you would be bringing Middle-earth articles to AfD. This one is mentioned in over 100 scholarly journal articles so I'd not have imagined its notability to be in any doubt, though I see it isn't currently at all well-written. I will add some citations this afternoon. If you are thinking of taking any others to AfD I'd be awfully glad if you'd discuss it with me first as we are down to a pretty hard core of essential topics now - dozens (if not hundreds) have been merged, deleted, or rewritten and brought to GA status in the past six months. Dickerson calls the Two Trees "the most important mythic symbols in all of the legendarium", already cited in the article, so you may guess my opinion on its value. Harassment

"A common problem is harassment in userspace. Examples include placing numerous false or questionable "warnings" on a user's talk page, restoring such comments after a user has removed them, placing "suspected sockpuppet" and similar tags on the user page of active contributors, and otherwise trying to display material the user may find annoying or embarrassing in their user space. User pages are provided so that editors can provide some general information about themselves and user talk pages are to facilitate communication. Neither is intended as a 'wall of shame' and should not be used to display supposed problems with the user unless the account has been blocked as a result of those issues."

I want to remind you that I am an editor in good faith and I would appreciate it if you would stop going through each of my edits. I would ask that you kindly undo the edit that you made on the page Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms, which was done without a discussion and implied that I acted in bad faith. Please stop harassing me.SeedEWound (talk) 16:43, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

SeedEWound, I am sorry if you feel I am harassing you. However, the warnings aren't questionable (sorry for restoring them though, but they shouldn't be called as harassment). Further, the reversion on the aforementioned page was made due to a lack of consensus, which is necessary for this change. You can feel free to revert the change if and only if a consensus exists. However, I am sorry for being too harsh with you! These are testing times and I am often stressed out. Again, sorry! JavaHurricane 01:45, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Barry Lee Wendell

I am Barry Lee Wendell . I put my own name in yesterday and today as the first openly gay City Councilor in Morgantown, West Virginia. What do I have to do to have someone not immediately edit that out?

˜˜˜˜Barry Lee Wendell (dovelizer)

Dovelizer, hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Unfortunately, due to our policy that our articles must be neutral and unbiased, we dissuade users from editing their own biographies or any other subjects with which they may have a conflict of interest. You may instead make a edit request on the talk page asking for the given edits. Further, that page contains a list of mayors who are notable by Wikipedia's standards. Since you don't seem to be notable by these standards (i.e. lack an article) your name unfortunately cannot be included there. If you think you meet Wikipedia's notability standards, you could start an autobiography (though this is highly dissuaded) in the draft namespace or put up a request for the page. Finally, remember to sign your messages with four tildes as follows: ~~~~.
Thank you and have a good day! Stay safe~

Message from Lawrenceleejr

Hi! I see that you just rejected my draft here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Samson_Chukwu

Thank you very much for the review. This is my first time publishing new articles, and I don't quite understand how the references don't meet the general nobility guidelines. References 7-10 are from two different large news sources in Switzerland and those pieces are entirely about Chukwu. This does seem exactly like significant coverage and certainly not in-passing mentions. In each of these references and others, he is the "main topic of the source material" as required in the definition of "significant coverage."

And his is one of the more prominent names displayed at modern Swiss protests, again as referenced. Can you give me a feeling of what would qualify as significant? Thanks!

--Lawrenceleejr (talk) 14:04, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lawrenceleejr, hello! Sorry for the late reply. The sources mentioned do not contribute towards notability as they are "run of the mill" sources which do not provide why the subject was notable. JavaHurricane 06:52, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Vijaydurg

I have really lost all hopes from Wikipedia today. You guys have simply reversed the changed I made to the Battle of Vijaydurg page. I have invested my time to ensure that only authentic information is added to that page and you cant simply undo that! That too without reading anything! I have lost all hopes from wikipedia today! last time I spend my time here.. and will spread this experience to hundreds of people as well

You guys allow people to spread false info in the first place while people like me who try to spread correct information get blocked! Great going wikipedia!!! best wishes on your venture of safeguarding false information!

only my actions were reversed and the people who wrote that incorrect information in the first place were safeguarded! you have a failed system in place

Please stop your personal attacks Awardy. As I said, the information was sourced and can only be removed by a community discussion on the talk page. JavaHurricane 06:37, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am talking about the Battle of Vijaydurg page. Some edits were made by me. but you went ahead and reversed it without giving any reason.

If only you guys paid such minute attention to the people spreading wrong info in the first place

I was talking about the same thing. JavaHurricane 06:49, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is no talk page there! the people who edited that page before me have done no such discussions! You havent reversed them, why did you just reverse my edits?

Because what you removed was sourced content. People were adding to the page, you were unilaterally removing sourced content without a discussion. Consensus is required for mass changes. JavaHurricane 06:54, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok.. but that content was incorrect. Where can we have a discussion about this?

Radhikabai.

Hello Java Hurricane. I got your message warning to block me. Are you some administrator appointed by wikipedia? And what exactly are you threatening me for? Removing information about a person who never existed? The page spreads false information about a certain 'Radhikabai" who never existed. Remove that info asap.

Hello! As I noted, I also believe that the page is unreliable and likely false. However, it is not possible to outright delete information here; we have a procedure to do so. See this policy as to how to nominate a page for deletion. A community discussion will follow for seven days, at the end of which someone will take the appropriate actions as per the consensus gathered there.
As to whether I am an admin, no I am not; however, I found it fit to warn you of the consequences of removing material without consensus; warning a user is allowed by policy. Please do not take it as threat as much as a reminder of sorts.
Finally, whenever starting a new topic on a talk page, please click on "new section" at the top of the page. On writing a message or a reply, remember to sign your message with four tildes as follows~~~~.
Thank you, and have a great day! JavaHurricane 12:08, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So you dont have the authority to block a user? Has someone entrusted you with the authority to go around 'warning' people? Is that a part of your job?

When might the Radhikabai page get deleted?

Hello JavaHurricane! Where are we on the deletion of the Radhikabai wikipedia page? Please reply 15 june 2020 The page should be deleted by 19th if the community is supportive. You can leave your comments on the page. JavaHurricane 03:45, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of edits to Barack Obama Day

Hello, Java. You recently notified me of a revert to changes made to Barack Obama Day. If you would review my changes they were to revert the page to the prior version before internet activists edited the page today. The version you reverted to is factually inaccurate and does not represent accurate information as it still portrays the day as June 14th, which it is NOT despite the desires of Twitter mobs. As stated clearly and extensively in all cited references and sources, the day is actually on August 4th and only recognized by Illinois (and separately by a single county in Alabama). Twitter does not represent any governing body and their decision to recognize today as Barack Obama Day does not constitute a legal change in the date the day is recognized and should not be conveyed through Wikipedia. Abuse by anonymous parties to edit the page and alter the date are serving only to justify misinformation being distributed on other platforms and create a false narrative. This behavior must be prevented as it is imperative that Wikipedia and articles contained herein be diligently maintained as accurate to the best of the maintainer's abilities. Thetrentharvey (talk) 04:54, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thetrentharvey, actually the information on that page was sourced, and you removed sourced content. You could raise an issue on the talk page regarding verifiability though. JavaHurricane 05:00, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

Hi JavaHurricane. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Barkeep49 (talk) 16:52, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology standard

Hi JavaHurricane,

Thanks for reverting my edit. Can you please clarify the standard for writing the etymology or reference where to find it, or should I look at this article for reference? It's a worthwhile effort to be consistent which is what I tried to do. Thanks again. Thraex64 (talk) 09:20, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Normally we don't use articles in the etymology. You can see that in most language articles. JavaHurricane 09:24, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Understood and thank you for the quick reply, but is it not unnecessarily ambiguous this way or am I seeing things? Thraex64 (talk) 10:39, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I personally don't find it ambiguous. Further, it is the established consensus on the style, so I think it is best to stick to it. JavaHurricane 10:45, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Arturo Arias (engineer)

Hello, I am new to wikipedia in English. I wanted to ask you what elements of the writing of Arturo Arias (engineer) could make you doubt the neutrality of the article. And also if you could give me any suggestion on how to fix. --Carrilano (talk) 04:18, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I ask you the above, because if you click some of the article references (such as: BBC) I think you will notice that it is quite sober.--Carrilano (talk) 04:31, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Carrilano, hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I came across your page though the new page patrol. I found several points in the page that I found to be non-neutral. For example, describing the scientist as "outstanding" in the lead (summary), "which would give life to [...]", "most reliable", etc. all suggests a slight POV. These need to be resolved by using more neutral words. I have removed the "outstanding"; other improvements could be removing the "most reliable" and changing the "which...to" to "which was the progenitor of". Hope this helps! JavaHurricane 04:40, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback. It was not my intention to flatter the person. I think maybe my English played against me in writing. I will try to improve it.--Carrilano (talk) 04:48, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Carrilano, no problems! Best of luck, and stay safe. JavaHurricane 04:51, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to improve the article a bit. I think it was necessary to use quotation marks when it comes to what is the "most reliable instrumental measure". I look forward to any new suggestions. And grateful for the above suggestions. Thanks again!--Carrilano (talk) 15:41, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BishopdaleCT, hello! Welcome to Wikipedia.
Firstly your username is contrary to policy as it represents a group of people (here a location) rather than a single person. Wikipedia's policies prohibit role accounts - an account must represent only one person.
Secondly, the changes made on the page were not appropriately cited and were original research, which is banned from the English Wikipedia due to concerns of verifiability. Please cite a source the next time. Thank you! JavaHurricane 02:30, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fanmeeting and Muster

hello :)

Fanmeeting and Muster is the same thing they're both fanclub events with the difference that one takes place (mostly) in Japan and the other South Korea. However currently on BTS page some Fanmeeting are listed under Concerts and others are listed under Fan meeting tours which makes no sense. An example of that is Japan Official Fan Meeting Vol.1 being under Concerts however Japan Official Fan Meeting Vol.2 –Undercover Mission– and the following Fan Meetings are under Fan meeting tours. To correct this mistake I tried to change the title of Fan meeting tours to Fanmeeting & Muster (nowadays Fanmeeting gets written together) and list all Fanmeeting and Musters under Fan meeting Tours (Fanmeeting & Muster) since they're both fanclub events that go with the same theme/songs every year they take place. Also I've just noticed all of BTS Japan perfomances I've added got removed. Bts has released a new album called Map of the Soul 7 : The Journey and for that has been performing their new songs on various TV Shows in Japan. I added all those perfomances to BTS page since they were missing before. Please change back what you've changed it wasn't correct before. Fairyjimin (talk) 20:22, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of "Joy Bridenbaker" article.

Why did "Joy Bridenbaker" get deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manhattan, NYC. (talkcontribs) 03:00, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Manhattan, NYC., it was unambiguous advertising and met the speedy deletion criterion G11 (unambiguous advertising or promotion). JavaHurricane 03:05, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear JavaHurricane,

The article "Joy Bridenbaker" was not written for the purpose of advertising or promotion.

Bridenbaker is a notable Canadian performance artist with solid credits in several independant art house films and an appearance along side Al Pacino in "Hunters" (2020).

There is link to her IMDB within the article.

The article looked good to me other than the few resource citations not properly embedded and was a good read and addition to Wikipedia in my opinion.

Would you refurbish the article to the drafts section, and if not perhaps publish as a "Stub"?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours very truly,

Manhattan, NYC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manhattan, NYC. (talkcontribs) 03:32, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but I cannot republish that article as I am not an administrator. Additionally, the page in the state it was deleted constituted unambiguous advertising and Wikipedia is not a platform for posting content that amounts to blatant promotion or advertising. Finally, notability on Wikipedia is determined by the coverage of the subject in third-party reliable sources and "solid credits" in multiple films is normally not used as a notability criterion, unless the subject has been in multiple such notable films. The subject of the article in discussion did not seem to meet the notability guideline for actors, but that is irrelevant in any case as it met the criteria for speedy deletion. Reason of rejection

Hello

Thanks for reviewing the first page I create on Wikipedia, Wencke Synak.

However, I have a small question about the reason of rejection.

The German actress shows significant coverage being featured in IMDB, Amazon Prime Video, Spotify, Deezer & Cast Upload. This criteria is then fully met!

Moreover, you can look for example in the category of german actresses and you'll find that dozens of actresses with lower number of reliable references have their pages published without any note even.

Please, reconsider reviewing the page and tell me you point of view about what I said.

New page reviewer granted

Hey, so overall you've done good work, but I did want to follow up on a few things that I noticed. One relatively minor thing is that it's recommended for new page reviewers to add relevant WikiProject tags to articles upon review. If you haven't installed it already, WP:RATER makes this quite easy. Additionally, I came across two cases of articles that should have been moved during review: Akhal Pulwama and 12 Koofi. Moving articles to the correct WP:COMMONNAME is part of the review process; for Akhal Pulwama I think that moving it to Akhal, Pulwama is unambiguously the correct action, so I went ahead and did that myself while looking over your work. For 12 Koofi, I wasn't able to track down the sources cited, so it's less clear to me, although the fact that the lead says that it's more commonly known as Reer Marka would suggest that Reer Marka should be the title.

Let me know if you have any questions, and keep up the good work. signed, Rosguill talk 18:55, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Semyonov's Rebellion

JavaHurricane,

Firstly, I appreciate the work you're doing reviewing Wikipedia pages. Judging by your talk page, it's often a thankless job. Personally, I much prefer writing articles, but someone has to review them! So, thanks. Secondly, I wanted to ask if you could answer some of the questions I left on Semyonov's Rebellion's talk page. I would appreciate the clarification. To summarize them - I was responding to an article creation request from the Russia WikiProject. Does that automatically guarantee that the article is worth publishing? Finally, I did update the article with more sources, including #4, a book focusing on G. M. Semyonov and his contemporaries. It's my hope that that will establish notoriety. Best wishes, Ph03n1x77 (talk) 04:56, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ph03n1x77, hey! I've had a look at the draft and have done a bit of copyediting. I'm not an expert at old Russian topics, so I'll leave the reviewing this time to someone else, but I think the draft looks good now. JavaHurricane 05:05, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About significant coverage of Aspose.BarCode in multiple reliable independent secondary sources

If we formally try to find information about Aspose.Barcode in secondary sources which is fully independent from company in any cases we can find this list:

What we can see by observing these sources? These sources show that Aspose.Barcode is a winner of reader choice of VS magazine in 2017, it can generate and recognize QR and are used in different projects as barcode generation and recognition engine. But this information is restricted and describes almost nothing about the library.

In this way we can look into the sources which is used as references in the article and could be considered as primary dependent sources:

This is independent sources which in some parameters could look like primary, but if we read this Wikipedia article, secondary sources do not mean uninvolved and can be counted as secondary if they just making some problem review or meta-analysis. As we see, these articles describe raw technical parameters of the library, which quickly can be checked.

Yes some review articles, which is used as sources, use some peacock terms. But all information which is not related with easily checked technical facts, are removed from Wikipedia article. And we can see that Aspose.Barcode definitely can add generation and recognition features to Java/.NET/C++/PHP and other programming languages with selected barcode types like QR/Code 39/Code 128 and others. Also history of library development are can be checked by wayback machine and published articles.

In this way we can count these sources as self-review secondary technical sources about the programming library. And as we see this way is used in Wikipedia if we watch sources about the Tesseract recognition engine. As it is written in this article: Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy

All references in Supported barcode types isn’t related with Aspose.Barcode but related with barcode types which currently aren’t described in Wikipedia (I am working on addition of these types information) but supported by the library. I could delete this information, because it relates with the subject too superficially (with library abilities, but not library description).Alexandr.gavriluk (talk) 20:35, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MV Henna Picture Edit

Hello, I had noticed my picture that I had posted onto the MV Henna page has been removed due to "promotion". I can understand how you could believe that my tag of "adding a higher quality picture" could be under that decision from your stand point, but the reason for me adding a new picture was due to the previous image used was from 2010 and was in a lower resolution so I thought it would be a better idea to add a newer picture to the page just so it would look nicer. My intent wasn't to promote any pages of mine as I do not do that on Wikipedia. I just simply posted a picture onto the page for it to look nicer to anybody wanting to look at the history of the ship. I just want to inform you of my intent as I don't want to revert it back and start an "editing war" and in the end I'd hope that we are both on good terms. EMPhoto+Film, ah that clears the confusion up. The username policy prohibits promotional/group/company usernames, hence I asked. Thanks for your message, and sorry for reverting your edits! Feel free to restore them. JavaHurricane 08:54, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Java! I submitted a draft page of Nikhil Anand and it was declined by you as it seemed to be promotional. Taking the review from experienced wikipedia editors I made the necessary changes. I request you to kindly look at the changes I made and I have re-submitted. If some small changes are required then please do the same and help me publish the page. I believe that the person has enough presence and has worked enough to be on wikipedia so that the information can reach more people.Richardmat (talk) 14:52, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Java! I have made necessary changes to the draft as suggested by you. I hope it is in a neutral tone now. If you still feel some changes are needed, it will be kind of you if you can do the needful. Richardmat (talk) 22:26, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

message about the "vandalisim".

Hello Java. I just want to state that I did not and never wanted to vandalize on Wikipedia. I was simply trying to put some coat of arms and flag from the municipalities from the Republic of North Macedonia. I don't know if it ok to put it since I checked the municipality's websites and nothing said about the images.

OkJavaHurricane,Thanks,Can i resubmit the article?.All references are added. --Chennai Passangai (talk) 10:13, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Chennai Passangai, I would advise against it. So far, the coverage about the subject is either from non-reliable sources and/or covers only one event. As a result, the subject does not yet seem to pass the notability guidelines and the draft is not ready to be moved into the articlespace. You can find more significant coverage and put it into the draft to establish notability, but the submission will most likely be declined by a reviewer in its current state. JavaHurricane 10:29, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
JavaHurricane, reliable sources are added and these are multiple events,One is Femina Miss India by Fbb and Colors TV and Another one Miss Beauty India 2018 (Video)(Watch News) presented by Manappuram.Hope you understand. --Chennai Passangai (talk) 12:21, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I just wanted to follow-up regarding re-submission of the article 'Scott Teal' that was last declined by you.

I had made the necessary changes and sent it for re-review, and it's been 54 days since the submission and it's still pending review. You were the last person to Decline the submission, and I had made the changes quickly to re-submit.

I didn't know if it was a processing error, or something else.

Thank you,

Your draft article, User:Kobitaalap/sandbox

Hello, JavaHurricane. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "sandbox".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! —Nnadigoodluck🇳🇬 01:06, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not that it was my submission (I must've been the last reviewer), but thanks anyway! JavaHurricane 02:42, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, like you've mentioned I'm sorry about my wrong edits on some of the pages, I got too carried away, and wouldn't repeat it, but your reversal edit on the "Udaipur Mysore palace humsafar express" page shouldn't have been done because I had given another name in Kannada, which is also the language used in on of the origin Mysore. So please look into it, it's necessary because many people using the language are benefitted Master Sam 77 (talk) 16:45, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Master Sam 77, see MOS:INDICSCRIPT. Indic scripts should not be used on the English Wikipedia. JavaHurricane 16:50, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But why Hindi is not removed from the infobox then? It's also an indic language right? Master Sam 77 (talk) 04:15, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Master Sam 77, other stuff exists and then sometimes you have to ignore the rules to improve the encyclopedia. There is no clear improvement by adding the native name in this case, so I don't see any reason to go against the guidelines. JavaHurricane 04:20, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How do you suggest that using the native name wouldn't be an improvement to the page? It clearly helps the people from the place since the train origins there and the majority of the travellers would consist of the people from that place and they'd be the most ones looking into this page Master Sam 77 (talk) 05:04, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I did edit BSNL wikipedia page, wrote the truth and referenced as well.

If you want to ban/block me, ban/block me, I don't care. First of all you guys create article on a bad service provider called BSNL and then ask us to reference a proof, I had referenced a quora thread. You just referenced me this. You want more proof, go ahead search "Why BSNL is worst?" in any search engine. Why don't those article editors reference the truth? cause BSNL paid them, that's what. Wikipedia has become no more than a pay-to-service bio. Now go ahead report and ban/block me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MacroBSNL (talkcontribs) 07:26, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MacroBSNL, living in India, I know well how poor BSNL's network quality is. But it is not our job to simply write attack articles on subjects. Neutrality is one of Wikipedia's core principles, and all information on Wikipedia must be verifiable, preferably through reliable sources, and not original research or synthesis. Quora is not a reliable source as it is self-published, and your edit clearly indicated that you knew you were vandalising the article. Leaving poorly sourced negative material on a page is generally not acceptable on Wikipedia; it must, without any excuses, be sourced. Whatever the truth may be, it is not Wikipedia's job to document the truth, however we may want to do so. We simply document what reliable sources write about a subject.
For that cause, we are not paid by BSNL to write a positive or biased article on them, as Wikipedia editors are volunteers, and editing Wikipedia for pay is a violation of Wikipedia's terms of usage which leads to an instant block. There are many editors from India on Wikipedia, and it is mostly known that BSNL offers a network of poor quality. But writing a blatant attack (which is a form of vandalism) on BSNL not the way to go forward. I suggest you read the verifiability and reliable sources policies and write a balanced, well-sourced section on criticism of BSNL, if you want to. Otherwise, an editor will soon add a Criticism section anyways.
I hope you understand why the edit was reverted and you received a warning. Have a good day, and stay safe! JavaHurricane 07:49, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ah I see, I understand now. Thank you for the information and reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MacroBSNL (talkcontribs) 08:25, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sentence you've removed on Benjamin Gordon's article is not contentious. A PR Firm, has been hired as a middleman through a freelancing website to have said sentence deleted. By removing said sentence you are inadvertently playing into UPE. I strongly suggest you revert the version of the article as it stood prior to said sentence being edited out: 982360674. Thank you. I would like to disclose that yes I am a paid editor hired by someone to provide factual information. However, Krutapidla2 is also a paid editor from the same freelancer site. The only way Krutapidla2 would have known this is if himself was a freelancer on the freelancing site. This client had only privately invited 5 people, so only these 5 people were aware. It seems he is trying to sabotage others for his own personal gain and to drum up business. My client has already figured out his real identity (a freelancer from Pakistan), but it wont be disclosed here, because it is against Wiki policy WP:OUTING. Please visit the TALK Page of Benjamin Gordon and the deletion page to read more. I am posting more info there and more about why his edits are defamatory and disruptive. The deletion nomination should be cancelled immediately because it is a conflict of interest.
Also please revert the edit that he made, which is the same as edit done by a troll from an IP with no other edits. These guys are both using Single Purpose Account WP:SPA. The inaccurate comment states "On June 20, 2019, the SEC settled administrative securities fraud charges against Gordon. In the settlement order, Gordon agreed to pay a civil penalty, and agreed to a 12 month suspension from conducting certain investment activities." This statement is not accurate and defamatory. Gordon was never charged with any fraud. The actual details of what happened are in the talk page. So either you can post a more accurate version or remove the above statement completely. New Page Patrol December Newsletter

Hello JavaHurricane,

A chart of the 2020 New Page Patrol Queue

Year in review

It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

Reviewer of the Year

John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.

NPP Technical Achievement Award

As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Dpgrowth, since it appears that the subject is not notable according to the criteria mentioned at WP:BIO and you have a COI and are trying to use Wikipedia to promote the subject, I would advise you to refrain from writing a draft on the person lest your account is blocked for promotion. Hannah Cassels im Thurn

Hi JH. Could I trouble you to explain the reason(s) you reverted my recent edit to Hannah Cassels im Thurn? I made a change to correct an error (unsupported {{infobox person}} parameter), plus several changes in accord with the MOS, as well as condensing the infobox. I cited many of the reasons in the explanation. But maybe I made some mistakes. I would be grateful if you would point out the particular edits that you felt warranted a revert. Thanks. – 108.56.139.120 (talk) 14:54, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In the diff I saw, your edit unintentionally broke the infobox, although I'm not wholly sure how as I don't see any obvious problems with the edit. You are free to effect the change, just be careful not to break the template. Thanks for your edits to Wikipedia! JavaHurricane 15:17, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know. I'll proceed with restoring the edits and will double-check to be sure it doesn't break anything. Let me know, though, if you spot anything out of place. – 108.56.139.120 (talk) 15:29, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Slew of Indian films at AfD

Greetings. I saw your comment over at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aayatya Gharat Gharoba, and was wondering if you could spend some time and take a look at any open Indian film articles over at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Film. Your expertise would most likely go a long way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Onel5969 (talkcontribs) 01:57, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I shall have a look. JavaHurricane 02:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yo Ho Ho

About my latest changes on Margaret Randall's wiki page

Hi! I'm sorry I hadn't read thoroughly wikipedia's good practices. I am Margaret Randall's grandson, and she asked me if I could update her page. I understand this goes againts wikipedia's policy of conflict of interests. I am really sorry about it, and fully understand if you decide to modify the latest updates, or to check on the whole page. I still don't see if an artist could help to update her/his own page, or how could he/she do it. Thanks for the help, and for keeping wikipedia up and running!

Martinrandall (talk) 15:02, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Martinrandall, it's alright. The main reason we have a policy on COI is that we strive to maintain neutrality (one of Wikipedia's pillars) in our articles, and that people with COI could face difficulties in contributing with a neutral point of view. Be sure to follow the COI policy well. I hope you enjoy your time on Wikipedia! Happy editing! JavaHurricane 15:20, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JavaHurricane -- I think your final decline and speedy on Draft:Ambika Kamath were a little hasty. Looking at the subject's Google Scholar profile,[1] she's actually pretty highly cited for an early-career scientist in a relatively low-citation field. I've left a more-encouraging note at the creator's talk page in the hope that they might not be too put off by the experience. Do try to bear in mind that new contributors rarely if ever understand what it is the encyclopedia includes in articles and tend to write them in a way that feels promotional. Even if this attempt doesn't meet the threshold, the next one might hopefully be better! Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 05:10, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"But I tagged hastily. We must not be hasty. I have become too hasty. I must cool myself and think; for it is easier to shout stop! than to do it." -- as Treebeard would put it. A lesson for me going forward :) JavaHurricane 05:40, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a huge Treebeard fan :) Managing Wikipedia is a bit like managing a forest... got to nurture the saplings whilst keeping all the huorns in order, bru-ra-hroom... Espresso Addict (talk) 06:02, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Verily, I'm a Treebeard fan too. Humour often refreshes the mind, especially in the middle of SWMT patrol. JavaHurricane 06:06, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
