Zeeyarah
Hello,
Hope you are doing fine. I am writing an article for a company named as Zeeyarah and i just checked that you have deleted that article. Can you Please educate me how can i restore that and i can write proper article about it.
Thank You, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zee2019 (talk • contribs) 09:53, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- Greetings. As noted in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zeeyarah there is no indication that the article meets WP:NCORP, so you'll need to demonstrate that adequate sources exist. That may not be possible; if so, you'll need to write something else. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:56, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: So i have to write that article again with some sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zee2019 (talk • contribs)
- Actually, first you need to work out whether the topic actually satisfies WP:NCORP which it doesn't seem to. If it does, you can recreate the article; if no, then no. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:00, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: ok thank you so much. Its really helpful for me. i will read WP:NCORP first and write article again.

Tech News
- There will be no Tech News issue next week. The next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 2 September 2019.
Problems
- Some abuse filters stopped working because of a code change. Only variables for the current action will work. Variables defined inside a branch may not work outside of that branch. You can read more to see how to fix the filters.
- Only six accounts can be created from one IP address per day. Between 12 August and August 15 this was two accounts per day. This was because of a security issue. It is now six accounts per day again. [1]
Changes later this week
- Only a limited number of accounts can be created from one IP address. An IP address can be whitelisted so that it can create as many accounts as needed. This is useful at events where many new persons learn to edit. IP addresses that are whitelisted for this reason will also not show CAPTCHAs when you create accounts. This will happen on Wednesday. [2]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 20 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 21 August. It will be on all wikis from 22 August (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 21 August at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- There is an RFC about creating a new global user group with the right to edit abuse filters. This will be used to fix broken filters and make sure all filters will still work when software changes happen. You can read more and comment.
Special:Contributions/newbies
will no longer be working. This is because of performance reasons. It showed edits by new accounts. You can see this in the recent changes feed instead. [3]

Image question
Hi Jo-Jo. I'm working on the Ghostbusters II article and I'm struggling for relevant images as it's not quite as popular as its predecessor. I was wondering if I could get your advice on me uploading and using any of these if you have time. They all have non-commercial re-use, I can't remember if ours have to be commercial re-use or not.

- Greetings. I think that these are all equivalent to https://www.flickr.com/photos/laughingsquid/5430781781 but I think they might violate WP:FREER if used even as fair use. In addition I doubt that they'd comply with WP:NFCC#8 if used in the article. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:09, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- Do you mean there might be a free alternative? There is a section dedicated to discussing the character design so I thought that might satisfy Number 8 as it is more a discussion of the composition of the image and the methods used to get the character out of the painting. Darkwarriorblake / SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE! 19:22, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- No, I was thinking that there are two copyrights involved in that file, the first by the Flickr account and the second in the poster. Now thinking perhaps the last file would only have a poster copyright per {{PD-Art}} but I am not sure. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:36, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

Kevin Strohschein AfD
Hey, Jo-Jo! You closed this AfD as delete a few days ago. I've been busy in real life lately and just noticed it otherwise I'd have spoken up earlier. Strohschein was an NCAA Division I college baseball First Team All-American in 2018 (see here) and meets WP:NCOLLATH #1 as having won a major national-level award, an argument that was ignored by the delete voters who focused exclusively on the professional WP:NBASEBALL. Given that, I think this AfD would be worth a relist to bring that point forward before the discussion is closed. Thanks!!! Ejgreen77 (talk) 10:29, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

- Thanks for the ping, Jo-Jo Eumerus. I am not at all knowledgeable about baseball. My comment on the AfD was to the (seemingly) unfortunate timing as it appears (from my view) likely that if notability is not in place currently, NBASEBALL would presumably be met soon & suggested draftifying. When it comes to this new evidence brought forward, it looks good to me. But the major award bit...I am not sure. --TheSandDoctor Talk 00:55, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

- The limit for rollbacks has been increased from 10 to 100 rollbacks per minute. [6]
- The advanced version of the edit review pages (Recent Changes, Watchlist, and Related Changes) now include two new filters. These filters are for "All contents" and "All discussions". They will filter the view to just those namespaces. However the "All discussions" filter does not include pseudo talk pages, like discussions that are in the Project: or Wikipedia: namespaces. But it will include changes happening on Project talk: or the Wikipedia talk:. [7]

My article was deleted
Hello, my name is Jennifer Hardy, my page was deleted today. I have tried to talk with others about my page being deleted but I'm new to Wikipedia, and also I have a disability which makes it difficult to understand things, Wikipedia is harder to understand unlike a chat or email because theres back coding.
I believe my page deserves not to be deleted because the movie I was the lead in, "Spice It Up", has a wikipedia page on here as well. "The Intestine" page has my name on it too as a principal role. As the lead for the film I think if the film I starred in has a page than so should the lead. I have tried my best to follow the guidelines but it is hard to understand for me what people were talking about.
I've replied some of the people and have shown extra links/sources that I did not add in the page but haven't received a reply from them. I will do whatever I can to fix my page. Aalamina (talk) 22:52, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
- Greetings, Aalamina. There was a discussion before deletion on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jennifer Hardy CK; the problem is that under the pertinent guideline starring in one film is not enough to establish notability. I dunno about these extra links/sources. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:12, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Okay Jo-Jo Eumerus , I wasn't sure where & how to communicate since I'm new in Wiki. Do 2 of my aninated films still not count for my wikipedia page? There were some articles in the past but some are not there anymore because they're old since 2008. I wasn't sure if this link could be used for wikipedia: https://ilivewithadisability.com/wsim-what-suffered-inside-me/ There was also a short interview about my 2nd animated film on RogersTV Durham Now (1:32-2:21) https://www.rogerstv.com/media?lid=237&rid=2&gid=259152 Aalamina (talk)
- I don't think either adds to notability; the first looks like it's not independent and the second has the same issue. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 18:45, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Aalamina: As you are Jennifer Hardy you should not try to create an article about yourself. See WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Please wait for some other editor to believe that you are "notable" enough, in Wikipedia's terms, for an article. Thanks. PamD 23:07, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- @PamD: Hi there, there's 2 of us, Jennifer Hardy & I'm her helper trying this out. I'm new too using Wikipedia so we worked together after she had trouble understanding Wikipedia for a long time and she tried to learn how to use it in the sandbox in the past. I edited 10 other people's articles a month ago to be able to publish the Jennifer Hardy CK article and I helped putting things together. But if we have to have a different editor then we'll try and do that next time in the future. Aalamina (talk)
- @Aalamina: One editor name must be used by one person only, so "Aalamina" must not be both JH and her helper. And neither of you should be trying to create an article about her, nor should anyone you employ or who is a friend or other close connection: please read WP:Conflict of interest. Thanks. PamD 05:38, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
- @PamD: Okay, thanks for letting me know. It took her a very long time working on it though. Because of her disability she has more trouble understanding the complicated words from Wikipedia Aalamina (talk)
- @Aalamina and PamD:Huh. I am sure I've seen such "helpers" in the past. I don't think that they'd violate the spirit of WP:ROLE but I am not sure if the consensus agrees with me on this. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 17:29, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
- I think the autobiographical/COI aspect matters more than the shared editorname, but there is the point that one person has to be the one who takes responsibility for what's done under one editor name. PamD 17:50, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

Horizon Guyot scheduled for TFA
This is to let you know that the Horizon Guyot article has been scheduled as today's featured article for October 9, 2019. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 9, 2019, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.
For Featured Articles promoted on or after October 1, 2018, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.
We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors up to the day of this TFA. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:19, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
User bypassing deletion
Hi Spartaz, Manjappada was twice nominated for deletion, (1, 2 and resolved as "delete" by you and Spartaz, respectively. User Farzanfa007 has tried to bypass this deletion by moving pages. Can you please look into this and WP:SALT the page? Coderzombie (talk) 10:24, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- Greetings, Coderzombie. The new article contains new sources and a new claim of noteworthiness (
Manjappada is known for its Travelling Fans and created a new chapter in Indian football fan culture. Two common banners related to Manjappada is Home of The 12th Man for home matches and We Make Every Field Our Home for away matches. It's a proven fact Manjappada will have more fans than home fans in away matches. The whole world started to wonder with the unfurling of tifo during Kerala blasters pre-season tour match in UAE, which is never unheard of. The group as a responsible fans group is actively involved in Charity and towards the community. Its role in Kerala floods 2018 and 2019 have been highly appreciated. manjappada is the first supporter's group to launch Manjappada TV for fans along with the mobile application.
) which makes me wary of doing a WP:CSD#G4 deletion; are you sure it's still deletionworthy? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:30, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

I can help you with the links for her books and movies as well as reviews. Please let me know how to fix this and if we can connect for further discussion on the same.

- Greetings. As noted in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shikha Khanduja Kaul there was not enough information in reliable sources to do this. Numbers of books published and films made are not notability criteria, see WP:AUTHOR. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:04, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
Dear Jo-Jo,
Appreciate your quick response. I had gone through the guidelines mentioned on the page referred by you ‘Wikipedia: Author’ and would like to share some facts about Shikha with you. Shikha is considered one of the known and notable writers both in film and publishing industry. Besides her published work she has written two biographies (Sarvjeet Singh Bedi- a famous controversial case and Muskaan Sethi- Indian’s first professional Poker player) and two biopics (Alisha Abdulla- India’s first female Racer and Rakesh Malik- the first Indian to have been granted absolute Pardon under Article 161), which are in the process of adaptation for both digital and theatrical releases with well-known production houses. Shikha’s Wikipedia page was created by a member from her admin team and was currently managed by me. I was not at all aware about the deletion of the page, as soon as I realized, I contacted you. I would like to seek your advice on the possibility of restoration of her page (if any) or if you could provide any guidance on the same.

- Well, the problem is that it doesn't matter what she herself has written; we primarily care about what people unaffiliated with her have written about her. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:05, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
Hi Jo-Jo,
I understand your point, and would like to share one article with you posted on Shikha's upcoming project Muskan Sethi.. 'The Biograpahy of Poker Star: Exclusive Details on Muskan Sethi's Upcoming Book. Here is the link: This is just one of the project that is already on news. https://pokerguru.co.in/poker-news/muskan-sethi-shikha-kaul-pokerstars-team-pro-biography.

- Please post your replies in this section without creating a new one every time. That source does not look reliable to me but I am no great expert on that stuff; @Usedtobecool, Meeanaya, Harshil169, Agricola44, Johnpacklambert, Bearian, and Lekkala R Reddy:? Sorry, I shall reply to this post only going forward. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.177.184.50 (talk) 15:46, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- I doubt the poker site is a reliable source, and that particular article is a fluff piece which ends with an unprofessional "... we wish Muskan and Shikha all the best for the same!" It could be used to fill in the details after the fact, but I wouldn't consider it acceptable to actually establish notability. I can't see detailed info on the deleted article anymore, but I don't remember either of the two SPAs mentioned on the deletion discussion as being disclosed paid editors. I guess, a paid editor could always come forward with necessary disclosures and try and recreate the article through AfC, assuming they have more/better sources than used in the article that was deleted. The sources in the deleted version weren't at all acceptable for GNG purposes. The only plausible claim of RS coverage was the Times of India connection, which couldn't be verified through the article, nor from an independent search as I noted at AfD. The next recourse would be to try and show that she meets WP:CREATIVE; either of the awards from Haryana Film Festival or the online magazine, are not enough for that purpose. We need better claims to notability, and they need to be supported by better, meaning reliable, sources. If she meets our notability criteria, there should be at least some coverage of her on indisputably reliable sources, which has yet to be shown to be the case. Regards! Dear Jo-Jo,
Thanks for your response again. Basis your comments, I would like to share the copies of newspaper articles mentioned below from last 3 years related to Shikha's work for your reference but unable to upload them here. Please suggest how I can share the Copies with you.
1. Sunday Times, Dehradun’s The Times of India Edition, dt. 29th Jan 2017: Shikha was invited as the special chief guest for the Icon Award ceremony which she attended. 2. DB post, an English Newspaper from the Danik Bhaskar Group, dt. 26th Jan 2017: Reference to her article on 'Republic day' published in 'REGINA' addition of Danish Bhaskar along with other women celebrity articles. 3. Danish Jagran, dt. 10th Sep 2016: Shikha' article was published in the 'Sangini' addition of Danik Jagran Delhi, on her views on subject ‘Boldness’ 4. - Thank you for the ping. It just seems like she's not yet notable. Being locally famous, or getting in the news sometimes, is not enough. Sorry. Maybe in another year or two she will get the acclaim she deserves. Bearian (talk) 21:10, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

about List of lakes named McArthur
Hi, I don't agree with your "no consensus" closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of lakes named McArthur, and wonder if we could exchange views a bit about that closure. I am not expecting you will turn and reverse yourself, as it does seem like you were thoughtful in your consideration there, and did explain your reasoning. It's not at all like some cases where a closer just announces their decision. Here, I wonder if you could explain a bit more and respond to a question or two from me. It's even conceivable that you could convince me the other way. However, currently I do plan to take the question to wp:DELREV(?), but I intend to wait for closure of two somewhat related AFDs first (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lac Terant and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jumbo Lake), where there are some of the same participants. I expect both of those will be closed "Delete" based on how they have gone so far and how utterly non-notable are their subjects, but we'll see i guess.
Anyhow, about the lakes named McCarthur, I overall feel that you essentially assumed/accepted that all the participants had valid views, and that you determined that there was "no consensus" because there was an approximately even split. (That's not what you said in your decision, that is how I am interpreting it currently.) I believe that the "delete" voters were accurately judging based on policies/guidelines. While of the "keep" voters, most did not give any reasoning indicating anything substantially more than the fact that they too were mesmerized by the table being a list of places with coordinates. One or a few said "it's useful" explicitly as their only reasoning, or "i like it", essentially, which should carry no weight, even if you agreed with them (which I do not, it is not useful IMO). One or two's votes might be in reaction to what they perceived as badgering by me, about which I did respond, and was covered more elsewhere (at hike395's talk page). I was/am disappointed that several experienced editors who have long been involved with SIAs showed no perspective at all (which I do think is related to the fact that the SIAs are poorly understood, generally) and they stuck to their simplistic automatic line that "an SIA is a list of things therefore it is valid" (my summary, not their words, but not inaccurate as a summary, and the reasoning is false according to the existing guidelines which they ignore entirely, and according to explained-out reasoning about the implications). There was only one "Keep" voter, hike395, whose more complicated view deserves serious consideration, because they did actually consider the various relevant guidelines explicitly. IMO, essentially they explained they took a weighted view (which I disagree with, too, because the guidelines relevant are clear). But note even they conclude that merging the dab and the sia is what they recommend. Which would be consistent with delete decision, while allowing potentially valid items to be added to the dab, as I responded. I wonder, can you comment more, perhaps point to any "keep" voter/reasoning that you feel is valid? Again, I am not expecting much, but do want to try a bit.
Also, you seemed to be deflected, as I was afraid could happen, by the wish of one or a few to require reconsideration/change to the SIA guideline first. Which I view as totally unnecessary. The AFD decision should be based on policies and guidelines and reasoning based upon them. Not assuming that community consensus and SIA guidelines could be different in the future. It is a long shot, but would you reverse your decision? Again I would appreciate your further consideration about this. Sincerely, --Doncram (talk) 16:34, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- Greetings, Doncram. I was expecting this challenge, but I am a little time constrained now (OK, I am really working on my own pages on Quelccaya Ice Cap but dinner is incoming) so if I may, I'll answer to this in a few hours or tomorrow. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:42, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for your quick reply, and no problem, there is no rush. Including because those other 2 AFDs are still open. And I believe there is no rule, and i think not even any informal guidance, about how quickly any delrev needs to be raised. (What's for dinner, anything special, by the way? :) ) --Doncram (talk) 17:18, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- OK, some comments in bits and pieces:
- I don't think that Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lac Terant and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jumbo Lake are comparable to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of lakes named McArthur as the former two are individual lakes while this one is a compound list of lakes. Different notability criteria apply to them and as you can see different policies and guidelines were cited.
- The problem with the list article is that the notability guidelines do not give much of an answer as to what is appropriate for lists. Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Appropriate topics for lists and Wikipedia:Notability#Stand-alone lists are fairly open-ended (
There is no present consensus for how to assess the notability of more complex and cross-categorization lists (such as "Lists of X of Y") or what other criteria may justify the notability of stand-alone lists
) leave a lot up to case-by-case discussion at each AFD, and they (plus Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists#Purposes of lists) actually allow for "is it of any value"-type arguments; remember, Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions is a frequently cited essay, not a policy or guideline in and of itself. In such cases we often end up with "Yes, this should be deleted because X or Y""No, this should be kept because Z and A"-type discussions with no side clearly more convincing than the other. - More importantly, though, the existence of Wikipedia:Set index articles as a guideline with the first sentence saying
A set index article (SIA) is a list article about a set of items of a specific type that also share the same (or similar) name.
does indicate that we do in fact allow for such lists; otherwise why would we have that page, much less tagged it as a guideline? The keeps were not simply saying "keep, I like it" or the oft-heard "keep, lots of social media hits" or any of the other common non-arguments that administrators disregard when closing AFDs, they were referencing that guideline. - In my personal opinion, that article is a little silly but AFD closes need to be based on policy and guideline and the arguments laid out in the discussion, not the personal likings of the closing admin. I also think you perhaps were a bit overzealous at replying to everyone there; most people don't like that and it creates a lot of material to read through; but I don't think it swung the discussion in favour of keeping. DYK for Mount Moulton
On 13 September 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mount Moulton, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that ice almost half a million years old has been found on a mountain named after a sled dog driver? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mount Moulton. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mount Moulton), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
