Genesis creation narrative
You mentioned on Talk that you're doing something "complete re-write". Where is it? Can I see? Don't have much time these days but I'm curious.PiCo (talk) 06:44, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- The whole thing. Just curious to see how another pair of eyes see the same subject :). Remember Cicero: "Keep-a it-a simple" (he was Italin, you know).PiCo (talk) 07:55, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- He was Mario, yes. Mario's great-something grandad. If it's a new article you could just do it, then invite ppl to look. PiCo (talk) 10:02, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
RfC: Should the lede define the narrative as a "myth, in the academic sense"?
An RfC has been created at Genesis creation narrative#RfC: Should the lede define the narrative as a "myth" in the academic sense"?. Since you have been involved in this discussion, I'm informing you about it here. This is not an attempt to canvass, because people on both sides of the dispute are being notified. - Lisa (talk - contribs) 16:16, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Interpretations of Genesis
Stumbled across this article Allegorical interpretations of Genesis which might be the sort of thing you're looking at. I must say I wouldn't touch it myself - too many ill-informed but highly-motivated editors, likely to be a vale of sorrow :) PiCo (talk) 06:52, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Biased much?
Thanks for the ad hominem attack here. It's touching that you reluctantly agree though.--Jeffro77 (talk) 12:14, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- I apologize if I caused offense. It was sarcasm based on the same statement that Mann_jess made to me in the Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Requesting_three_admins_to_close_long_RfC (I don't know how to do a diff, search for "I'm afraid I have to agree") which you were involved in, and I believed you saw - I will redact it or strike it if you wish. St John Chrysostom view/my bias 12:19, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think it was obvious that it was intended as sarcasm, but fair enough.
- See Wikipedia:Diff#Linking to a diff.--Jeffro77 (talk) 12:25, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- here is the diff. I have struck the comment in any case and replaced it with a simple "I agree with Jeffro (no offense intended: see talk)" - I was actually trying (and failing, obviously) to dispel some of the caustic and acrimonious atmosphere at that page with a leaven of levity - I am half-horrified that I managed to cause offense/have myself construed as an ad hominer (as if my limited skill in logic and rhetoric was that limited) instead. St John Chrysostom view/my bias 12:26, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. I was not actually aware of the section at the Admin Noticeboard.--Jeffro77 (talk) 12:30, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- No wonder you took it poorly. I took it as an unintended (yet funny) ad hom myself when it was said to me. I assumed that, as one of the most vigorous opponents of "keep", you would have been involved in it deeply. (I should do a better job of checking signatures?) St John Chrysostom view/my bias 12:34, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- I saw references to a request for a 3 admin close at the article Talk page, but I imagined such a request would be fairly routine—there either would or would not be a 3 admin close—so I didn't bother investigating. To be honest, I thought that the relevant policies were sufficient to approve the rename (and still believe that to be the case), however there comes a point where, at least for a time, the dead horse should be left alone. "No consensus" means just that, no one 'won' or 'lost'. At least it now properly has both terms in the opening sentence though. I trust you have no major objection to the change I've made?--Jeffro77 (talk) 13:37, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- What? Changing "symbolic narrative" to "narrative" and removing "peopled"? Not at all - although I imagine the addition of "Genesis creation myth" in bold letters will piss off enough people to get reverted at least once (as it did when I made the same BRD edit, less the piped link, the first time), so we should get to work building consensus for both terms, bold, in the lead. I figured it was a good consensus-building move as a compromise due to the "no consensus" - "why don't we just put both up there"? St John Chrysostom view/my bias 13:44, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- Based on the relevant policy, and especially since there was no consensus for preferring one term over the other, I see no defensible precedent for not retaining Genesis creation myth in the opening sentence.--Jeffro77 (talk) 13:58, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- Eek! Sorry if I caused any trouble, guys. Communicating in text with people from different cultures can be tricky :P I'm glad you both seem to have worked it out! — Jess· Δ♥ 18:37, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I completely understand that this edit is basically a running gag now, but given the discontent some of the other editors have expressed about my edits at that page, due to misplaced concerns of POV, it probably isn't great. As it is, I've decided not to work on that article anymore, because it's become too difficult trying to work with the other editors there.--Jeffro77 (talk) 10:06, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
More AN/I fun
Here it is. Kauffner (talk) 09:12, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
- Responded to. No personal offense was meant, merely "shock and awe" after the last RfM and RfCs, and high emotions from the WP:BATTLEGROUND of that article, which, sadly, boiled over (i.e. straw, meet back of camel) when the very first source you provided I checked defined it as "creation myth" in the very first sentence. I apologize again for any personal offense, slight, or anything that could be construed as an ad hominem. St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ 01:04, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
