Re:Abdulhamid Dbeibeh
Dear John,
Thank you so much for your feedback.
Yes, the article was very short and didn't have any references. I forgot to add the "under construction" template, so please accept my apologies.
I hope you like the current version. Could I remove the "draft" tag? Thank you!

Two same article
Het John, some another user created the same article regarding Uttarakhand flood after some hours I did. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Uttarakhand_glacier_burst So kindly solve this issue Kichu🐘 Discuss 05:13, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Yes John. An admin solved it. Hatchens created a new article under the same title with slight changes and tagged the original article with CSD accusing me of copyright violation How does it even make logic Kichu🐘 Discuss 08:04, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

My concern is that I have been temporarily granted autopatrolled rights. This user is accusing me of vandalism which I have never done. So I m afraid my rights will be affected. Is is so? Kichu🐘 Discuss 08:17, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

- Notability needs to be shown as per WP:NFILM. --John B123 (talk) 18:16, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- I've been thinking. One thing that adds notability to a film article is reception. In the case of this one, there's a reception section with one review. Isn't that enough? 172.250.44.165 (talk) 08:56, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- From WP:NFILM: The film is widely distributed and has received full-length reviews by two or more nationally known critics. If you can find two full length reviews then that would be fine. --John B123 (talk) 16:48, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Request for a page move
Dear John B123, I see that you have page mover rights, so there is one page I would like you to help me with. There is a page called the Malayan Races Liberation Army, which should be called the "Malayan National Liberation Army". Much of the early literature surrounding this army uses a mistranslation, and I believe whoever made this wiki was using some outdated sources when they choose the name. It's very frustraiting to have to explain in any wiki related to them that it was a mistranslation, and it makes it difficult when editors unfamiliar with the subject try to check the source materials. Would you change the page name from "Malayan Races Liberation Army" to "Malayan National Liberation Army"? BulgeUwU (talk) 13:33, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Axel Bauni, article tagged for speed deletion
Hello! Thanks for your message. I am a very very new Wiki contributor. The warning about possible copyright infringement must have arisen because I based my article on some of the bios of Herr Bauni that are available online. - Hi Kichu. I see Kiyan Nassiri was nominated for deletion for being promotional, and that the tag was removed by an IP from the same location as you. Whilst I don't think the article is promotional enough to be deleted, it does have some promotional elements, for example;
He was able to win the I league during his debut season with the club
is hardly justified as his only appearance all season was as a sub for 11 minutes. - The minimum number of articles for granting of WP:APAT is 25, so you qualify in that respect. Regards --John B123 (talk) 15:20, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

Your tagging of my page
Hey. I noticed that you tagged my article as possibly not being notable. However, I think that the school is notable because of the large amount of international coverage it received. Doesn't it meet WP:NGO because it received national coverage? Scorpions13256 (talk) 20:13, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Scorpions13256. I assume this is in connection with the very odd expulsion of the young girl. The news coverage of this seems to have fallen away already so WP:PERSISTENCE is probably applicable here. However, I don't claim to be an expert in this area so feel free to seek other opinions. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 20:42, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking the time to write to me. I did not think that WP:PERSISTENCE applied because this is about the school and not the event itself. I also feel that it may be too soon to determine if there will not be coverage in the future. I'll do my best to find more sources. However, if this article is nominated for deletion, I am almost certain that the nomination will fail. Schools with less coverage have survived. Again, thank you for taking the time to explain your reasoning to me. I'm just a little bit crestfallen. Scorpions13256 (talk) 20:48, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- My thinking was that the event gave the school its notability so the guidelines for events would apply. It's perfectly ok for you to remove the tag if you disagree, the tag is more of an invitation to improve rather than a definite statement that the subject is not notable. Schools are difficult to write about as they are not inherently notable so I wouldn't feel bad about it. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 21:18, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- I won't remove the notability tag because I feel that I need a third opinion on this. I notice that you did not mark it as reviewed, so I think it is best to wait for another reviewer to weigh in. I'll probably ask the people at WikiProject Schools too. Scorpions13256 (talk) 21:23, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Deletion Of Darts Players
Hi, Could you please stop suggesting that darts players I have put up basic info for on here are suggestions for deletion, please? These players have participated in major tournaments in their sport and deserve to have their (in most cases, limited) profiles mentioned on here. That's Wikipedia is for, highlighting players that not many people will have heard about. Darts might not be a massive sport compared to others, but these players have earned their pages by right, and shouldn't be deleted.
If you're such a senior editor as you say you are, you should update the rules so that everyone who has appeared in a major tournament, or who has won a PDC Tour Card. It's very embarrassing that these pages keep on being deleted, when they shouldn't be.JRRobinson (talk) 16:17, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- @JRRobinson: - as far as I'm aware the only darts player article that I've nominated for deletion is Steve McNally (darts player) which I've nominated both times you recreated it. The article was previously deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve McNally (darts player) in July 2018. As far as I can tell, McNally has done nothing to show notability since then. Where there is no WP:SNG, articles must meet WP:GNG, which the McNally article has not met. If you feel there should be specific guidelines for darts players then I suggest you start a conversation at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Darts. (Courtesy ping to Discospinster as you have posted a similar message on their talk page). --John B123 (talk) 17:24, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Just because there are some sources covering about an person makes him/her notable?
Hey, John hope you are doing well and is staying safe. I have always came to you regarding any doubts related to notability and related stuffs and you have always been a mentor. So this time my doubt is that, if a person have recieved lot of coverage from multiple sources, does that mean she/he is notable. I explain with an example. Suppose I am involved in a major controversy and some of the major national medias has covered about me in depth, does that mean I am notable. Because please see Rehana Fathima. Because its said in the article that she is a feminist and activist. But its wrong in normal sense. She was an employe in a telecom company and became famous in social media after posting her bikini photo as a protest against cyberbullying. She then also became famous after posting bare-breasted with watermelons. She is mostly famous for becoming a part of the controversy of Entry of women to Sabarimala. Other than being involved in some contreveries, the person has nothing to merit to exist as an independent article. Most of the users in the AFD are commenting as keep in the sense that the subject has recieved wide coverage from multiple sources. So I am confused about the notability in this context. If this is the case so, lot of persons exist here who have recieved coverage from multiple sources for non notable things. Waiting for your reply. Regards Kichu🐘 Discuss 06:05, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Kichu, from WP:GNG:
A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject
. This means that if a person has has significant coverage then they are viewed as notable. There are a few exceptions such as WP:BLP1E. This generally works well, but at times people who probably aren't notable pass the test and others that you would think of as notable fail. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 08:14, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ryle De Morny Hello Semikanacty,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ryle De Morny for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Hello
Hey, I’ve got a quick question for you, you’re definitely more experienced than I am in new page patrolling so I thought I ask you, sometimes I notice you tag a page for notability concerns, my question is why not just nominate it for deletion? Is there a particular reason you do that or is it just arbitrary? I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a while. Celestina007 (talk) 23:51, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Celestina007. I don't like nominating articles for deletion unless really necessary. In some cases the subject may be notable, but this isn't apparent on the page. In other cases the article fails a WP:SNG, but with work it may pass WP:GNG. Sometimes it appears borderline on notability. Tagging with notability gives the creator the chance to bring the article up to notability requirements, but if the article hasn't been brought up to scratch after a while I'll nominate it for deletion (if somebody hasn't already done that). Of course none of this is a policy or guideline, but I've evolved this system of working after previously getting some grief from an admin over being too hasty. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 00:16, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation, (I’ve seen others do it not just you and it always got me puzzled) & I had been meaning to ask a more experienced reviewer than myself why that was so. Hi, John! I saw that you turned Southamerican Tour 2019 into a draft, given that it had no references, a point we absolutely agree on. I created the article on the Wikipedia in Spanish, and decided to translate it, but hadn't had the time to copy the references yet. But the original article (the English version is an... exact translation of the Spanish one, I'd say) didn't lack references, and recently I added them. Would you be so kind to restore it as an article, or should I submit it first? Thank you. --Jorge (talk) 00:48, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

- Hi Rocknrollmancer. A bit of a tricky one. Possibly a COI, although it's not overly promotional. I don't think it's bad enough to send to AfC so I've tagged it appropriately. However, I'll keep an eye on it and if the issues aren't resolved it may have to go to AfC. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 15:55, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Seeking a reviewer for these pages
Hi.
I am looking for a reviewer for these pages.
Some of these have been around for a few weeks but still haven't received a review.
If you have time, would like to seek a review on any of these pages so I can action them accordingly.
- PAG (investment firm)
- Baring Private Equity Asia
- Qiming Venture Partners
- Shenzhen Capital Group
- Algemene Pensioen Groep
Thanks! Imcdc (talk) 12:13, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Imcdc. They all come across as promotional and some of the references are to the company's website. As a minimum, claims from the company's website need to be backed up by independent sources. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 19:38, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi John B123, I was in the process of reviewing this article and noticed that the page uses an incorrect title. I was thinking of moving it to just "Mohammad Ali Khosravi" however there seems to be some confusion regarding his name. This and this source calls him "Mohammad Ali Khosravi", whereas he is referred to as "Mohammadali Khosravi" here and here. Can you take a look at it? --Ashleyyoursmile! 08:27, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Ashleyyoursmile. Things often get confused when translating names from non-latin sources. Looking as his Instagram account,[4] "Mohammad Ali Khosravi" seems to be his preferred way of writing his name. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 17:19, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Brazilian prostitutes
A tag has been placed on Category:Brazilian prostitutes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Just curious
Hi John B123,
I received two emails saying "The page Wolfgang Becker has been reviewed" and "Wikipedia page Wolfgang Becker has been changed on 26 February 2021 by John B123, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfgang_Becker for the current revision." So I was curious to find out what that actually means, because when I go to the page, I can't see any revision at all, and your name doesn't appear in the version history. Is this some sort sort of hidden "under the bonnet" activity? Did it lead to the Wikidata page finally being connected now, something I attempted without luck directly after reassigning this page as a DAB? Greetings from --Sprachraum (talk) 19:34, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Sprachraum. All new pages or redirects are checked to make sure they are suitable for inclusion and meet the minimum standards. If they are ok then they are marked as "reviewed". Although it doesn't appear in the history it does appear on the page log.[5] I'm totally baffled about the second email. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 19:48, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- Ok thanks! I too will remain baffled by the second email, but have now learned about review tags in the page log, so that's good. Have a fine day! --Sprachraum (talk) 19:55, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Hendrik Völzke sources
Hi there, John. I saw you just added the "BLP sources" tag to Hendrik Völzke. Could you please let me know how the article is inadequately sourced? The little content that's in the stub is supported by the two references given. Robby.is.on (talk) 19:17, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Robby. Generally BLPs should have more than one source. Links in the "External links" section aren't regarded as refs as the section is more for links to more in-depth coverage of the subject. {{BLP sources}} probably wasn't the best tag to use, {{one source}} would have been more appropriate. Question
Hi. I was going to ask you sort of a general and specific question. A few articles I created (about 10) are still unreviewed and I was just wondering if it's just a matter of waiting it out or if you can request they be reviewed, then I saw the message on the top of your talk page not to request, but also people requesting reviews so wasn't sure if I should mention (request) specific pages or just ask generally. Opted for the latter for now. Also, wanted to ask if an unrelated article shows in log as "previously deleted" does that affect new article with same name? Thank you. - -HistoricalAccountings (talk) 14:48, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi HistoricalAccountings. I put the note on the top of the page a few months ago when there were over 10,000 articles waiting for review and I was getting 20 requests to review pages some days. The situation has improved now (down to 3,000 in the queue) so I don't mind people requesting reviews of their page(s). I've left the note on the top of the page to discourage the "I wrote my article yesterday, why hasn't it been reviewed yet" type of messages.
- It depends on why an article was previously deleted. I would check why the article was previously deleted. The only reason a new article of the same name might be automatically deleted is if the previous article was deleted at WP:AfD. If this is the case, then I would look at the previous deletion discussion and see if the reason for deletion would still be valid. The timescale of when the article was deleted may be significant. For example, a person may have gained some notability since the previous article was deleted 10 years ago. On the other hand, nothing is likely to have changed on an article that was deleted last week. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 17:08, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- @John B123 Thank you for responding and explaining that. One of them was deleted 15 years ago for just nonsense text, but is now about an unrelated actor. There's about 10 articles I created currently unreviewed and a few redirects. Would appreciate it if you get a chance to take a look at any of them. Was maybe going to take or thinking about taking a bit of a wikibreak if they are approved soon-ish as have some other projects, but am still available to make further improvements on them (if necessary) in the meantime. This school has the highest number of students appeared for the 10th standard exam in kannur district ( the district where the school exist) and number 2 for the number of students writing exam in the state of Kerala. The school have its own significance with highest number of students studying in 10th standard with more than 1000 students and appearing for the exam. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/kerala/over-36000-appear-for-sslc-exam-in-kannur/article6976762.ece 007sak (talk) 08:34, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
There are more reliable sources for this claim , but most of them are in Malayalam Language. 007sak (talk) 08:34, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Out of 191 schools in kannur district , 1000 students appearing for 10th standard exam each year can be considered for significant isn't it. 007sak (talk) 08:38, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
I have updated the article with more information and citation. This school can be considered as notable because , in kannur district there are 191 schools and 36000 students studying in those school. Of which 1155 students appeared from this school alone making the most significant school in kannur district , sorry for adding this information in the article after publishing. 😊 007sak (talk) 08:51, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi User:John B123, thanks for the quick page curation to my article on Johann Abraham Nüske. You've added a refimprove tag. But why? What are you missing? Interpretation of edit warring
Hi John B123, I am curious about your interpretation of edit warring in regard to the Long Island Serial Killer article and the use of the term prostitute as compared to sex worker. Rolling back one revision where the editor's explanation was misinformed and counterfactual would not seem to me to constitute edit warring. I would welcome you beginning a discussion on the article's talk page if that is your interpretation.Atiru (talk) 23:54, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Atiru, 6 of the last 7 edits of the page were changing prostitute to sex worker and then back again, so yes I would say there was edit warring going on. Whilst sex worker is a term used for prostitutes, it also has a wider meaning and can include strippers, porn stars etc. In articles about prostitution you can the terms interchangeably as it is clear the narrower definition is being used. In the case of this article, "mostly prostitutes" is clear, whereas "mostly sex workers" could mean the victims were strippers. Most NGOs etc who support or are neutral about prostitution use the term sex worker, whereas those opposed (often supporters of the Nordic model) strongly oppose the term sex worker as, in their view, it is an attempt the legitimise prostitution which is a form of exploitation of women. There are also regional variations in usage, for example in Australia prostitute is an offensive term. In the UK prostitute is generally taken as meaning a street worker.
- There was previously a discussion (which I've searched for but can't find) about which term should be used on WP, which was precipitated neo-abolishmentist changing sex worker to prostitute over multiple articles. The outcome was that on articles on older subjects (prior to the term sex worker coming into use in the 1980s) prostitute would be the better term. On more modern articles either was ok and it was up to the individual editor and that once an editor had used a particular term it shouldn't be changed by others. Ah - I didn't realise there were previous revisions and reinstatements. I am familiar with the debate over the terms sex worker and prostitute. What I am curious about is how to deal with a situation where an editor insists on the status quo for the wrong reasons (the one I rolled back used the word "censorship.") If we privilege this kind of editing, we risk privileging a dominant (and obviously male) lens. To have this kind of gender-skewed/distorted lens on any article on Wikipedia is wrong, and on subject areas particularly aligned with the experiences of women and GNC people, it is disturbing. Atiru (talk) 22:40, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Atiru, there are some strange edit summaries in the article's history, the first change from "prostitute" to "sex worker" was accompanied with the edit summary of "Corrected violent language". I don't see this as a gender issue. Previously I ran a sex worker network in the UK. The women never referred to themselves as prostitutes or sex workers but used "escort", "courtesan" or "working girl". American author J. M. Moynahan used the term "Ladies of Negotiable Virtue" as a title of one of their books (inspired by Terry Pratchett's "lady of negotiable affection" in Discworld) and this was the favoured term for a while but never made it to mainstream. More than a handful of the women felt the attempts by (mainly) those not directly involved in the industry rebranding "prostitution" to "sex work" just as patronising as those opposed to the industry telling them they were being exploited. Obviously this is UK experience and may be different in other countries.
- Getting back to the point in hand, apart from the circumstances outlined above, I don't have a personal preference either way. However, I generally oppose changing the existing usage in either direction to try and prevent the edit warring that occurred across many articles a couple of years ago. Hello, can you please explain your reasoning for adding the Resume template to the Sara Tea page? I disagree, but would like to know why you think it reads like a resume. According to Wikipedia, "An article that merely summarizes the subject's career is okay, as long as it's written in a neutral tone and the subject meets the requirements for notability." This article was written in a neutral tone and it does meet the requirements for notability. Alexmarie (talk) 23:14, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Alexmarie. If you replaced the "In" at the beginning of each paragraph with a bullet it would look like a bullet-pointed cv. Knowing nothing of the subject previously, the impression it gave me on reading was that the article was written to promote Tea. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 08:16, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
I disagree, this is how many, many other valid articles are written. It’s a summary of her career and is in line with what I quoted above. The summary wouldn’t be acceptable by Wikipedia’s terms if it wasn’t written in a neutral tone and/or it didn’t meet requirements of notability, but that isn’t the case here.
