Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Jon Butler. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). I can't remember if I responded to your note and criticism earlier — I think I might have, but it's not recorded here. That said, be assured I did NOT write the article about myself. I do not know who did. I DID, however, update it once, I think, to indicate that I was no longer the president of the Organization of American Historians. Otherwise, I've left it alone.

Dear 331dot: I have just discovered this message from you stating your concern that I had authored an article about myself. I didn't. The article about me appeared some years ago. I don't know who wrote it. In 2016 I did edit part of one line, changing a statement about my presidency of the Organization of American Historians, 2015-2016, to the past tense, after my term had ended. It's the only change I made.
