This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Ronald Shiffman, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.beyondzuccotti.org/ron-shiffman-awarded-2012-jane-jacobs-medal/.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:26, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
Nice start, but still needs work
[edit]I see that you have attempted to remove the copyright issue by changing a few words, but, in my opinion, the current words are still problematic.
It is not, in general, good practice to start writing an article by using copyrighted material as a starting point. The reason is that simply changing some of the words leaves the original structure of the copyrighted material, and the results, even with many words changed, may constitute a copyright violation. Wikipedia deliberately takes a conservative view toward copyright; we want to be sure that we do not have close calls. Changing words means it is no longer a simple copy paste, but it can still qualify as a Close paraphrase, which is still a problem.
When I look at the source, and the current state of the article, it is clear that the current article was written by modifying a few words in the source.
A better practice is to identify more than one reliable source about the subject, read each of the articles, then start writing the article in your own words. Then check against the sources, in case you accidentally remembered long phrases from the source, and make sure those are rewritten.--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:25, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

- Note: I did of course see that Sphilbrick had edited the article; I should have guessed that the copyvio would not have gone un-noticed. I saw the problems as fairly major, and have listed the article at WP:CP for a complete rewrite from scratch. Sphilbrick, do please feel free to revert if you think I have misjudged this. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Jourdan Sayers. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article New Village Press, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:52, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
