Moving pages
[edit]When moving pages, please do not copy the content from one page title to another, as you did with The Living Years. This creates problems related to page history and content attribution with respect to Wikipedia's licencing terms. Instead, use the "move" button at the top of the page, which will preserve all page history details. Mindmatrix 14:09, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
{{helpme}}Hi MindMatrix, sorry for the incorrect edits! Unfortunately I cannot move the page to where it should be because that page already exists. If I move the other page first, then the page I want it still says I can't because the page already exists. Anything I can do? Thanks!
- No move is necessary. According to all available sources, "The Living Years" is the correct name. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 11:32, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
{{helpme}}Sorry but I must beg to differ! I have the album and I have looked up several resources online. Last.fm, iTunes, Discogs and Musicbrainz ALL point to it being Living Years, including the CD I am holding right now!

So how can I change it please because it is wrong... Thanks!
- There appears to be conflicting information on this album. Amazon and Billboard say it is The Living Years. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 17:07, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- Some of the sources that Jowie gave are not definitive; such sites often have things listed under several names - such as;
- Also, there are many books that state the name as "The Living Years". There are 161 hits in google books for the terms
mike mechanics "The living years"
, here, and removing the word 'the' gives 178 hits, here. As the latter includes the former, that indicates that only 17 of the hits do not use the word 'The'.

- The vast majority of news articles use the word "The", see here.
- I appreciate that the album cover itself omits the word "The", but I think we'd need something more definitive. Chzz ► 18:09, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
{{helpme}}I really don't understand how a Google Search can be a better source than the sources I mentioned, which are pretty much industry standards. I also find it strange that you infer that I'm going only by what is on the cover, which as you well know, is not the case at all. It's only a word "The" and I wish I never started, because now it's about the fact that I am being disagreed with for the sake of it now.
For the record, APART from the incredibly reliable sources I mentioned, I am not just talking about the graphic on the cover. I am also talking about the text on the spine, and references to the album name appearing in the leaflet on the CD. I thought I'd put something right but obviously nobody is interested. Would scanning the CD text help you, or maybe a letter from Mike Rutherford, perhaps?
- Please get in the habit of signing your talk page messages with ~~~~. I just found that the Library of Congress says it is Living Years[1]. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 18:25, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
{{helpme}}That's a great find, is that enough to change it? Apologies for not signing my notes! Jowie (talk) 18:29, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- As concrete as that seems, there are too many other inconsistencies that bring up questions. There must be a reason that it is "The Living Years" in so many sources. We shouldn't move it without trying to account for that. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 20:22, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
