Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page JKUAT TechExpo has been reverted.
Your edit here to JKUAT TechExpo was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://jkuatlinux.blogspot.com/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. The article List of official openings by Daniel arap Moi in Kenya has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unremarkable list.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AndrewWTaylor (talk) 20:24, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi there! I thought you might be interested in WikiProject Wikify's April Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive. We'll be trying to reduce the backlog size by over 1,300 articles and we need your help! Hard-working participants in the drive will receive awards for their contributions, including a brand new one for the single largest wikified article! All you have to do is put an asterisk next to the largest article you've wikified, and coordinators will check its wordcount after the drive ends. If you have a spare moment, please join and wikify an article or tell your friends. Thanks! Note: The drive started April 1, and you can sign up anytime! |

The article Albert Brahms has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Very bad machine translation - incomprehensible, no clear context, no references, no obvious notability. He's categorised as a judge but seems in fact to have been an expert on sewers (???). Needs a ground-up rewrite or just plain old deletion.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Your recent edits
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 05:04, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

WikiAfrica Incubator and other Languages
Hi Stephen, sorry only to reply to your query on the WikiAfrica Incubator now. We have made it very easy for people to add articles in other languages. When creating a new article, place the name of the language before the name of the article, e.g. Swahili/'name of article'. Here is an example that was used as a test: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiAfrica/Stubs/Swahili/Test_article Once it is ready for the main namespace, we will change the url. I hope this answers your questions? We have tried to make it more obvious on the WikiAfrica Create an Article or Start page. Hope this helps?Isla Haddow 10:21, 25 May 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Islahaddow (talk • contribs)

Nomination of Blasts in Nairobi for deletion
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Blasts in Nairobi is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blasts in Nairobi until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:08, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your information Stephen. I am indeed new to the platform, however, I also work on Honorable Mudavadi's campaign team with the online media section.
The reason for my inclusion of the website in the text was for search engine optimization purposes. We are hopeful that by the time the new website is launched, we will be on the top of google.co.ke as we are with google.com, bing.com and yahoo.com search engines when the keywords "Musalia Mudavadi" are typed. Speedy deletion nomination of Bring Zack Back Home
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Bring Zack Back Home, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Best regards, Cindy(talk to me) 03:43, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

JavaScript
statusChanger
It has been repeatedly reported that this script does not work under Internet Explorer 7 and/or Windows Vista. A workaround solution (other than installing Mozilla Firefox (or possibly Opera), which is BTW highly recommended) may or may not be developed. |
This module will add 3 new links beside the "log out" link. These will be "in", "busy" and "out" for quickly changing your current Wikipedia status.
To enable this, first add the following line to your monobook file:
importScript('User:Misza13/statusChanger.js');
Additionally, you'll need two additional pages:
The first one is the one modified by the script to hold {{User:Example/StatusTemplate|STATUS}}, where "STATUS" will be one of "in", "busy", "out". Then it is up to the "Template" to render it the way you wish. An example is:
'''<div style="border: 1px solid black; background: white; float: right; position: relative; top: -30px; padding: 5px">
Example's status: {{ #switch: {{{1}}}
| in=<span style="color: green;">IN</span>
| busy=<span style="color: #FFAA00;">BUSY</span>
| out=<span style="color: red;">OUT</span>
}}
</div>'''
You can tweak it to look whatever you like.
Then all you need is to put {{User:Example/Status}} on whatever pages you want the status to be displayed.
You can also define your own range of statuses using this statement (put it right after theimportScript statement):
statusChangerConfig = {
statusList : [ 'in', 'busy', 'school', 'work', 'out' ],
};
Make sure your template knows how to handle these new values.
watchlistSorter
This tool that sorts your watchlist by namespace making it easier to browse for important edits - not recommended for people with thousands of pages watched. Not compatible with Internet Explorer. Not compatible with "Enhanced recent changes" option in Preferences.
To install it, add the following to your monobook:
if (wgPageName == 'Special:Watchlist') {
importScript('User:Misza13/watchlistSorter.js');
}
viewSource
This code will create a new button called [view source] to the left of the [edit this page] button (unless you're already editing a page or the page is protected). Technically, it takes you to editing the page, but removes the interface (edit summary box, minor edit and watch checkboxes, save/preview/show changes buttons) below the editing box. This will prevent you from accidentally saving the page if you were just playing with the content.
To install it, add the following to your monobook:
importScript('User:Misza13/viewSource.js');
pywikipedia scripts

- User:Misza13/spoilerkill.py - interactive script to aid in the removal of redundant {{spoiler}} (and related) tags from articles
- User:Misza13/browseCSD.py
MediaWiki template stuff
Other random stuff I've created:
- User:Misza13/vote is the ultimate voting template! All in one, but since voting is evil and such templates have been pretty controversial in the past, use it at your own risk.
- User:Misza13/CURRENTMINUTEOFDAY is a template that translates {{CURRENTTIME}} (i.e. 12:52) into a number of minutes passed since midnight: 772
- User:Misza13/Random is a Wiki-RNG! See for yourself!

Nice
Your answers were pretty nice. What you have to take care of that when your are reverting vandalism, if the article is new, and all its revisions are pure vandalism, tag it with {{Db-g3}}. I am quoting some points from WP:VAN, which will help you in taking further steps against IP vandalism. "For repeated vandalism by an IP user it is helpful to take the following additional steps:
- Trace the IP address (e.g. http://www.domaintools.com/ ) and add {{whois|Name of owner}} to the user talk page of the address. If it appears to be a shared IP address, add {{SharedIP|Name of owner}} or {{Shared IP edu|Name of owner}}. The OrgName on the IP trace result should be used as the Name of owner parameter in the above three templates.
- Particularly if the IP address is registered to a school or other kind of responsive ISP, consider listing it on Wikipedia:Abuse response."
Another point is do not nominate an article for article for deletion because it is vandalized. Have a look at the table below to understand which warning has to be used when.
Warning templates
|
Use the last two warnings only in extreme cases.
Hope this will help you. I will again recommend you to have a look at WP:VAN, and then do some Recent changes patrolling. Also if you are interested in using STiki, ask me and I will get you the access. If you have any doubt, feel free to contact me. :) ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 14:08, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

You did a good revert here. But I am giving some points which will help you.
- Make sure to warn the user. You can use twinkle for that. If you are using STiki, the user is automatically warned.
- Someone like me, who doesn't knows about the topic and is not sure whether the fact that he has died is a hoax or not, has to check Google News for this. To prevent this, you can revert such edits as WP:BLP violations, since no citation was given for the claim. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 06:38, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

- Hello,John! It is true that the death date had been wrongly added by an anonymous editor at the persona data as seen here. This was a wrong edit since the information was un sourced and false. The person in question is still alive since am well versed with the Kenyan political scene and am a resident in Kenya. You went ahead to insert the wrong date into the article basing on this wrong edit by the anonymous user in accordance to Wikipedia:Blp. Consider my edit a Good faith revert since you acted to improve the article and not to vandalize it.I have notified the editor on their talk page here.SUwanja Talk to Me. Deletion of Herman Muehlstein page
Hi!
I am new to wikipedia so I am trying to get accustomed. I am wondering what makes my page on Herman Muehlstein deletion worthy. I am not sure if the title is correct but it is a work in progress. I wrote about Herman Muehlstein in an unbiased point of view because I have no affiliation with the man. Please let me know whenever you can what steps I should take to ensure that the page remains. His life achievements and philanthropy to schools and scholarships make him encyclopedia worthy. Thank you, I look forward to hearing back from you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jpolvere (talk • contribs) 19:43, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- The content of your userpage was marked for deletion since you were writing what ought to be encyclopaedic material on your user page. The function of a userpage is well explained at WP:Userpage. First ensure that the subject (in this case Herman Muehlstein) of the article meets the Wikipedia General Notability Guidelines. The best way to start an article is by practising in your sandbox here then when you are contented it is well written and meets Wikipedia WP:Stub - standards you can boldly move it to the main space or even contact me back and I will be glad to look at it and advise and help as necessary. Your request for rollback
Hi Stephenwanjau. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Confounded
Hello Stephen,
I have a question about a page I stumbled upon the other day. There is a page that seems to refer to my social network, but the information present at the time was associated with the A&E cable television channel. The page seems to be associated with Wikipedia. Today I visited the page, and the A&E information is gone, but some information about my site remains. At the top of the page, I am logged in, and again it looks to be associated with Wikipedia. Would you mind explaining to me what this page is for?
Here is the link: http://wn.com/kingdomz_x_arts_entertainment/news
Thank you. Thunderbreath (talk) 22:16, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

really now
nothing in this artical has any links to anything other then the cosworth stuff....; guess you should delete the whole thing then...., and most of what is on wiki is hear say(no links to back up most of the claims); i used years that are factual, that anyone with half a brain can look up. and yet you still delete it.

Speedy deletion nomination of Joseph Hellon
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Joseph Hellon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Your recent contributions
Hello Stephen, I've noticed that your most recent article contributions were nominated for speedy deletion. The reason is lack of context or content in your articles. When creating new articles, you should at least say what is the subject and why it is notable for inclusion in this project. This should be backed up by reliable sources, especially when you write about living individuals. I attempted to fix James Ole Kiyapi and George Luchiri Wajackoyah, and I will continue. Please, check. Don't hesitate to ask me if you need further explanation or advice. Thanks for your contributions on Kenyan politics. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 06:56, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Your articles are not deleted, see the blue links above. I moved Sir George Luchiri Wajackoyah to George Luchiri Wajackoyah (in accordance with the Wikipedia manual of style) and fixed the others. You can continue in editing, all the people seem to be notable in the context of Kenyan politics. Just follow the instruction mentioned in my previous post. Thank you :) --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 07:07, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Igloo
Hi Stephen. Apparently you need some help with Igloo? Tell me what you're having trouble with and I'll be happy to assist. Yunshui 雲水 10:02, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
In fact, assuming you're new to it, here's a very basic guide: in the Igloo window, the most recent changes to Wikipedia are shown down the left hand side. You can select them with the mouse, or hit the spacebar to get to the most recent one. If the edit is fine, move on. If it's vandalism, pressing "Q" on your keyboard will revert it, and warn the editor who made the change.
Igloo only templates for vandalism; don't use it for good faith reverts, original research or anything that isn't blatantly vandalism. Yunshui 雲水 10:05, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
The left and right arrows at the top work like the Page Back and Page Forward buttons in most internet browsers, they'll take you to the previous diffs you were viewing. The clock will display the most recent history of the page, and the cog allows you to customise various filters (don't touch this unless you know what you're doing!). Yunshui 雲水 10:09, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
I find it helpful to have Wikipedia open in a separate window; that way if I find an edit that isn't vandalism but still needs to be dealt with, I can copy/paste the page title across and sort it out manually. Yunshui 雲水 10:10, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Igloo has an automated filter which will tag edits it thinks are vandalism; these show in red and stay at the top of the list until checked. It's not hugely accurate, unfortunately, so don't assume that red edits always need reverting. Yunshui 雲水 10:12, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you Yunshui for the help that you have offered so far. I can now start trying it out since I had not hint at all of how it works but I believe with these instructions you provided I will get of the ground pretty well. Uwanja Talk to Me. Email Me. 10:14, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Glad I could help. Take it slow at first, and feel free to drop me a note if you run into any problems. It is quite easy to make mistakes with Igloo (because it's just the one button for both reversion and warning and has no undo option), so if you don't already have Twinkle enabled I'd do so, if only so that you can self-revert more easily when you make a mistake. Be ready to apologise, too! Yunshui 雲水 10:18, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Riwa Austin.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Riwa Austin.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 21:32, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

AssessmentBar for Wikiproject Africa!
Hello! Thakns for your interest in the AssessmentBar. I've modified it to make it work for WikiProject Africa, which I understand is under which WikiProject Kenya lives. [[User:YuviPanda/AssessmentBar/WPAfrica}] has instructions on how to try it out!
The 'Next Unassessed Article' feature is currently broken. I shall be fixing it soon - but I think you'd want it to work differently than how it did for WP India? How big are the taskforces? Would a generic 'next unassessed africa article' be useful at all?
Please leave feedback on my talk page! Thanks! YuviPanda (talk) 16:34, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

What is the meaning of being welcomed to be creative
What is the meaning of being welcomed to be creative if one cannot mention the qualities of an author without being accused of promotion? I added that Grace Ogot is graceful and elegant... that is a fact. Was deleted... that is creative too. And why does Wikipedia present and then delete material?
Is advertising Wikipedia quoting it? Why so much about what IT IS NOT and not what it is. That would be enough?
Philo Ikonya — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pikwikiki (talk • contribs) 09:03, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- Being graceful and elegant is a relative description depending on a personal point of view, she could be elegant to you or me but not elegant to another person from a different part of the world. Are you certain that this is encyclopedic in nature? On the other hand, if the elegance and graceful are explicitly outlined in a reliable source you might go ahead and include that plus the citation. Advertising Wikipedia is a good thing since we want more people to read from it but advertisements do not belong to Wikipedia. When writing articles, users are usually encouraged to maintain a neutral point of view. Wikipedia allows users' inputs to go live as soon as they save their changes since we believe and trust in the very same community that derives knowledge from Wikipedia to take care of this great resource.- ₫ӓ₩₳ Talk to Me. Sources that you do not have
Your instructions are clear and you add nonnegotiable. Are there not some things that you have not verified. How did you know I have not seen a source on Grace Ogot in two minutes? She is elegant and graceful. Fact. Verify with Kenyan media otherwise all sources are muted when you do not know them.
I suspect that there are many sources you do not have. The Grace Ogot issue is not of vast importance. I contribute to many papers and I know the person am referring to but that for Wikipedia is not neutral enough. In a way I feel stifled here and am for freedom of expression. I think that I have seen other writers whom I know with descriptions that you could also ask for verification for. I hope it will be comfortable to edit anything here without feeling like there is too much watching and therefore control!!

- I concur there are many and even millions of sources that I don't have which are in the hands of other people and that explains why all content on Wikipedia comes from other sources i.e. no original works are allowed on Wikipedia. Probably you should consider going through how adding a reference on Wikipedia works. There is a short video on YouTube that explains how to add a reliable source to an article. There is freedom of expression on Wikipedia which is can be exercised at the discussion pages of articles where consensus is reached and the results of the discussions posted on the main article. consider signing your messages by typing

Hi Stephen,
I notice you have reverted the additions that I made to the ESWT page yesterday.
Are you able to explain the reasons for this?
I work for a company that is driving forward the development of ESWT in the UK and the additions that I made were valid and accurate.
Perhaps we can enter into communication to try and find agreement?
Thank you.
Jonathan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muddboy27 (talk • contribs) 09:25, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
- My revert of your addition was a Good Faith revert which indicates that your intention was not to change or tamper with the integrity of Wikipedia content which is a good thing. First, the additions you made did not have references to them.If you have sources for this information then you might want to watch video tutorials on YouTube of how references are added to Wikipedia here. The cornerstone of Wikipedia is the secondary sources which are verifiable even by other users who might be interested to read more about the subject of the article.It is good that you work for the company pushing for the development of ESWT but on the other hand, don't you think there might be a conflict of interest that could result in a bias on the article tone an intended informative meaning? ₫ӓ₩₳ Talk to Me. ESWT
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the speedy reply.
I will have a look at the videos about referencing info and see what I can do.
However, although I work with an ESWT company in the UK, I am only interested in putting up information that is accurate and of interest to those looking to learn more about ESWT. As ESWT is not a technology that's commonplace, there are a lot of myths and inaccuracies surrounding its development and meaning.
I'm not looking to bring any kind of conflict into the situation – I just want to help give people a better and more accurate understanding of ESWT – as that's in everyone's best interests.
Thank you
