Can you tell me what your justification is for the image you just uploaded? What article do you intend to use it to illustrate? -- Karada 12:30, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I have edited your second image into the Gary, Indiana article, but have deleted your first image, since it appears not to have any encyclopedic merit, and was not linked in any article. Did you take these photographs yourself? -- Karada 13:12, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Barnstar

[edit]

Here is the Photographer's Barnstar for uploading these excellent images of Gary, Indiana. Although some of them don't fit into encyclopedia articles very well, those pictures portray life in the ghettos exceptionally well -- they were just so realistic. Please accept my offer. Thanks. -- Stevey7788 07:04, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Comment: There is a reason that I gave you the barnstar. When used correctly, you can show that some African Americans don't live in the homes that many other Americans take for granted and that we could donate something to charity to help them, but DO NOT use it for white supermacist purposes. And I said realistic, because I realize the photos were realistic. However, I said that "some of them don't fit into encyclopedia articles very well" - because they don't. They degrade a city's pride and heritage. Besides, where are the better sides of Gary? I would like to see them. The pictures of the vacant buildings are not common and are somewhat good, but I would want some pictures of great improvements in Gary. — Stevey7788 (talk) 02:00, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Mises institute image

[edit]

Hey, I'm not sure about your tagging for this image. While it's a cool photo, you've tagged it as a logo. The tag says that the logo should be illustrating the organisation it belongs to, but you're not making that use of it. I strongly doubt that you could claim it's a fair use. I'm not a fair-use fascist -- I tend more to the copyright is theft school of thought -- but I do question the image's use. James James 10:54, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The jpg that I uploaded was used by the Mises institute for a conference that they held. I didn't think it would be a problem. Look at the link below if you want to see more to decide.

Redirects to Cindy Sheehan

[edit]

You have recently created a series of redirects to Cindy Sheehan, including Shiny sheen and Sandy sheen. One purpose of redirects is for common misspellings, other names, pseudonyms, nicknames, and synonyms. Shiny sheen and Sandy sheen do not seem to fit within the purpose of redirects (see: What do we use redirects for?). What purpose do these redirects serve? —ERcheck @ 05:22, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see from your user page that you are not happy with some of my deletes. Here are the ones I deleted:
  • 2006-03-07 03:24:33 Xaosflux deleted "Bob saggett" (redirect loop)
  • 2006-03-07 03:24:25 Xaosflux deleted "Bob sagot" (redirect loop)
  • 2006-03-07 03:24:17 Xaosflux deleted "Bob sagget" (redirect loop)
  • 2006-03-07 03:20:04 Xaosflux deleted "Bob Fagget" (redirect to nowhere | content was: '#redirectbob saget' (and the only contributor was 'Kalmia'))
  • 2006-03-07 03:19:02 Xaosflux deleted "Bob faget" (content was: 'db-attack#redirect[bob saget]')

I attempted to talk page you about these above, but did not hear back from you. The first 4 of those were redirects that didn't go anywhere (either went to each other, or even to themselves). The last one I deleted on CSD patrol, per the nominator. When you recreated it, I did not delete it again, not wanting to get in to a edit war using admin tools. I'm not sure what your goal is, or if you need any help with these. Thanks, xaosflux Talk/CVU 03:51, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:DSC01320.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 07:20, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Snouthouses.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:07, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Userboxes etc

[edit]

Hi Kalmia - not that I don't use metric (I do!), but it is generally considered bad form to edit other peoples' user pages (and some of the ones you'd added were not true!) - you're supposed to let them decide what userboxes they want on their own page (just as I'm sure you'd be annoyed if I started adding lots of userboxes to your user page ;-) - MPF 23:40, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't really see the harm. Somethings I assume people will see as an obvious joke. Thise was done after someone suggested making this category because another was too broad. I think posting things in some parts of wikipedia don't need to be so serious. Talk pages and redirects and categories don't really harm anything if they exist. The main articles are different. --Kalmia 06:34, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipeda is Serious Shit, People
You editor's better understand this. You can't go around making jokes on here. --Kalmia 19:38, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning: Please do not add obscenities to Wikipedia. Injecting unnecessary profanities, racially or sexually abusive comments, or provocative pictures to articles or user pages offends many people. Wikipedia treats such actions as vandalism and blocks people from editing for such repeated vandalism.

User:Stephencolbert was NOT blocked for vandalism or making jokes or anything like that. The user was blocked for violation of WP:USERNAME. Until we receive tangible evidence from Comedy Central or Stephen Colbert that the account is actually his, then he must be blocked according to policy. Perhaps you should review WP:CIVIL and WP:USERNAME. Thank you. ~ Porphyric Hemophiliac § 19:55, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relax. My comment about not making jokes was a joke. I know why he was blocked. He wouldn't identify himself after the edits. But many people did make jokes on his behalf. My comment that you are referring to was on a talk page. Obscenities are not always vandalism. --Kalmia 20:02, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It was a joke? Remember, not everyone is as 'humor-inclined' as you. I'm normally humorous, and I didn't find it funny. Plus, you are right: not all obsenities are vandalism. But there's a difference between Shit sandwich and "Wikipedia is Serious Shit". One of these is factual application of terminology. The other is a violation of WP:CIVIL. ~ Porphyric Hemophiliac § 01:14, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted page "Hammer of Truth"

[edit]

A page you created, or image you uploaded, Hammer of Truth, has been deleted in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets the one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

Unremarkable people, groups, companies and web content. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable notability guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content; it will be deleted again and may be protected from re-creation. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article. If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. Thank you – Gurch 12:40, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you should have not been so trigger happy with your immediete deletion. I noticed that the page was down when you delted it.[3] It is still down. I plan to remake the page after their site is back up. --Kalmia 21:59, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Sorry if you were planning to expand the page. However, our criteria for speedy deletion, which I have linked to and quoted from above, clearly state that articles about websites (among other things) are to be speedy deleted if they do not make some attempt to explain the significance of that website. The website you mention may well be notable, but if this is the case you need to say so in the article! Otherwise, I have no way of knowing that it is notable, and nor does anyone else who reads it. Remaking the page is, as I said above, fine. However, this time please try to explain the importance and significance of the website. Thank you – Gurch 00:40, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, if you'd recreate this page now that would be epic. Cheers! (not logged in) 21:06, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Michael Richards transcript discussion

[edit]

I just wanted to draw your attention to the appropriate section of the Michael Richards Talk page: Talk:Michael_Richards#WP:Recentism. I saw that you replied to someone who had a comment about where the transcript began, but that is not the real issue that other editors are concerned with. The problem is that, as WP:Recentism and other articles state, it is unfair to give such a large portion of the article to a recent event. The article needs to be balanced, while still being honest in portraying his comments as horribly racist. Note that previous edits to the article included uncensored excerpts of his comments and links to pages with the full text and the video, which seems fair. Please join the discussion on the Talk page -- there are at least 4 editors opposed to including the entire transcript, and I think that is clearly backed by multiple official Wikipedia policies, but we're interested in your opinion on the matter. Thanks! --Strom 01:58, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a sidenote, but your transcript is much better than any others I've seen. I appreciate the time it took to pull that together. --Strom 02:00, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Alina Cho CNN.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Alina Cho CNN.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Localzuk(talk) 01:35, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago Spire Site Plans/Example Floor plan

[edit]

Hey. I saw you posted to the Chicago Spire talk page that you have site plans & an example floor plan? Where did you get them from? Are they fair use? (no copyrights)? Or do you have permission to use them from the copyright holder? Either way, they would be a great addition to the article! Let me know. I can put in the copyright tags if you need help with that. If they are copyrighted we would need permission from the copyright holder. Thanks! Chupper 05:01, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great images. But in order to get the copyright information put in correctly I need some questions answered:
1. Did Santiago Calatrava allow this work to be used for any purpose?
or
2. Did he allow this work to be used on Wikipedia in the Chicago Spire article only? (this is OK too)
Let me know on my talk page. Thanks! Chupper 19:06, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Aqua Chicago zoom.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aqua Chicago zoom.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I use Popups, the thing that gives you a peek at the first few lines of an article when you bring the mouse pointer over a wikilink, maybe you do too. I noticed that you had added a couple of categories to AARP, and when out of curiousity I moused over your username I was surprised to see this File:Pistol Browning SFS.jpg come up in the popup. Then I was puzzled when I visited your user page directly and did *not* see it. Then I edited your userboxes. So anyway... if it's by accident, you should keep it; if it's on purpose then I learned something new today. Good thing there's no zero tolerance policy here! Fair use rationale for Image:Badnarik_card.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Badnarik_card.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Attack

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on this page, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because the article is a page created primarily to disparage its subject or a biography of a living person that is controversial in tone and unsourced, where there is no neutral point of view version in the history to revert to. (CSD G10).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting the article, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate the article itself. Leonard Delano Sr.

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Leonard Delano Sr., suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
