Richmond County School for Boys
Hello, thanks for the note on Richmond County School for Boys. I have had that information sitting in my user space for a long time now. I must have created well over 100 articles since gathering that information and have simply become side tracked from completing that piece of work. Actually, I would suggest main tracked because Richmond County School for Boys was really only a side track itself having created the Richmond County School for Girls article, I came across references to Richmond County School for Boys and thought it deserved development. I still do but it is very low on my priority list. I would be happy for you to take the information from the user page if you so wish.Kwib (talk) 21:11, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've copied the alumni for now but will probably create a separate article for Richmond County School for Boys as you conceived since it started at a different site. I'll merge the related content from Richmond Park Academy and start that with the creation of East Sheen County School for Boys. It will take me a while to unravel the convoluted history though! - Hello, that is fantastic that you have pictures of the building. Having found the reference I also saw the building on Google Street View. You may have seen that I have merged the pre 1939 history from my user page into the Academy article now. Having done that it occurred to me that perhaps the history section of the article would be best served chronologically rather than by school (eg 1895 to 1939 - Foundation of Richmond county to merger with East Sheen; 1939 to 1977 - change of identity to end of the grammar; 1977 - 2010 - Sixth form college and Shene School 2010 onwards - Richmond Park Academy. In truth, the 1970s is a period of the school's history I am yet to be clear about. The dates of the end of the school, when and if it merged with the Girls' County Grammar; the differentiation between the school and the sixth form college; all these items need to be clarified, but I am sure they will be over time. The Academy, as it now stands, is a school with a most convoluted history.Kwib (talk) 13:32, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Kwib. Yes, I did see you've merged the content - thanks for doing that. You beat me to it after all! :) It makes the article a lot more informative but the depth of detail kind of highlights the lack of detail for the other schools, which is no bad thing. I've put a proposal on Talk:Richmond Park Academy#Richmond County School for Boys to separate out the Richmond site elements as I think that would help make it all clearer. I would like to restrict the Shene article to the institutions on the physical site. I can fill in the gaps for the '70's but may struggle to find references, I can find witnesses though ;-) Where I am struggling is to find information about East Sheen County School for Girls that merged into Richmond County Girls in 1939 and the prior and subsequent history of Mortlake Girls who occupied the Hertford Ave site from the war through to the late 70's. Any ideas? KenBailey (talk) 18:29, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
