Laserdisc vs. DVD image

[edit]

Hi, I'm trying to assign different tags for images depending on their license. I assumed you have taken the photo Image:LDDVDComparison.jpg by yourself and published it under GFDL. Is this correct? Thanks in advance! –Mysid (talk) 12:20, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, you are correct. That image of my personal collection of Laserdiscs and DVDs, which I posted as a exhibition of what the Laserdisc was.--Kevin586 17:38, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

DD-CD

[edit]

Hi! See this. Henri Tapani Heinonen 15:10, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank for the the clarification! It was always lingering in the back of mind of that the Double Density Compact Disc and GD-ROM are ultimately different standards dispite the similarities. Stranger still, why would Sony would even market such a format despite the dubious success of other predecessors like the minidisc and UMD?.--Kevin586 17:56, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

About the Winx Club character articles

[edit]

Sorry, I've only seen Bloom, Stella and Layla's articles, but I'd like to thank you for adding those pictures. It really helps an article when there's pictures. --Alexie 03:07, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aly AJ article

[edit]

Hey, DeadGuy here, thanks for clearing the vandalism. I would just like to point out that the statement you saw was different from the one that was originally there. ORIGINAL STATEMENT: (This is somewhat inaccurate as evolution is not a religion but a scientific theory, and the statement itself is somewhat hypocritical)

VANDALISM STATEMENT: (She is correct when she says that evolution is just a religion, considering it's so called "evidences" are completely flawed: DrDino)

As you can see, there is a difference. You may ask "why is the top one better than the bottom one?" Well, see the article's talk page. I explained it all there.

Just to let you know.... Please give a response! --24.22.212.250 19:18, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, DeadGuy again. I would like to apologize for my response in the Aly and AJ article that I have now removed out of embarassment. You made the right choice removing that tidbit, because it did not deal with the article in general. I also appreciate your NPOV, because that shows that you are not blinded by your opinion. At the time I wrote that my mind was a little foggy from the subject, and I apologize. You were the better person this round. If you could forgive me. --DeadGuy 23:49, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of Winx Club episodes vandalism

[edit]

The admin who semi-protected List of Winx Club episodes for us has suggested that if this person continues after the ban and the semi-protection is removed, that we take it to WP:AIV. In the meantime, we should try and improve the page as much as we can, while we've got the semi-protection!  :) -Malkinann 23:07, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

It has four more. You can see them if you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page. Please verify this information and let me know if it still is not acceptable. Thank you. http://sniffycat.freehostia.com/winx.htm

I have reviewed the site and I still believe that the content is negligble its small content that "facts" which are easily surpassed by the official site and similar information contained at the 4Kids winx club site. It has been my stance in keeping with the wikipedias external link standards to maintain the winx club and to keep from being seized by fancruft which can plague articles like the winx club.--Kevin586 22:12, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking a second look. By the way, there's no need to be so mean and offensive about it.

You are watching Winx Club. Still ahead...

The complete list of episode titles in the Rainbow's English dub

[edit]

Courtesy of http://www.cartoonnetworkindia.com, I could get the complete list of episode titles in the Rainbow's English dub of the third season. The titles in first and second seasons are supplied from http://magicofwinx.com. JSH-alive

The in-universe data

[edit]

I think the in-universe data in the articles relating with Winx Club should mainly based on the version shown in Italy, using words and terms in the Rainbow’s English dub. Example here:

Bloom is… member of Winx[1]… Planet Domino[2]

Notes and references

  • The in-universe data in this article are based on the original version shown in Italy.
  • The words and terms used in this article are from English language dub made by Rainbow S.p.A.
  1. ^ The meaning of the word Winx was changed in the edit of program made by 4Kids Entertainment as the magical powers of fairies rather than the meaningless word made by Bloom to refer the group.
  2. ^ Planet Domino is Called Planet Sparx in the edit made by 4Kids Entertainment.

JSH-alive

Should 4Kids’ edit have its article?

[edit]

If it should, I think the title of that article should be Editing of Winx Club made by 4Kids Entertainment. The article should begin with “4Kids Entertainment has edited most of non-American television series they imported.[proper citation] Winx Club, an animated television series made in Italy, has also been edited.[proper citation]” Moreover, the article should contain background of editing, critical responses, legal responses, and something except trivial things. JSH-alive

Response to JSH Alive suggestion of winx club article improvements.

[edit]

It should go without saying that you are quite serious in your intention to improve the articles related to winx club. However, the objectives you have brought up do seem a dated: Almost all of the points you have brought have been mentioned or implemented since talkpage discussion I started on October 2006 in major rewrite. In order, I will respond to everything you have posted.

The complete list of episode titles in the Rainbow's English dub

[edit]

For the most part, the episode listings are complete and see no need to add another list of episodes when the main article List of Winx Club episodes has more detailed content and space to expand if we could find additional editors. About the only thing I would like to see implimented in way of episodes are tables similar to List of South Park episodes.

The in-universe data

[edit]

There has been mention of what version should be discussed in the talkpage discussion “Standards across different versions” and tacitly, conforming the article to the the italian version was chosen but was never fully implimented because the article is largely maintained by editors in north america and edits focus primarily on updating the article with the progess of the 4Kids Entertainment version. If you believe that you can go across all winx club articles updating and adding adding notes that of all differences, then by all means do it. please.

Should 4Kids’ edit have its article?

[edit]

This matter was also discussed I do not think there any consensus on how to deal with regonal differences. In the winx club talkpage duscussion “October 2006 Article organization discussion, I think I was opposed to the article creation because it would only encourage unverifiable content and original research in the main article (I go into another discussion about the matter in the “May 2007 discussion of content..”). If you have read both the discussions, I hope you will understand why I would I like to have all current winx club related cleaned up before we even begin to think about creating new articles.

In general, there is alot to do: I have created article improvement discussions in the talkpage Bloom (Winx Club) and notice of major upcoming rewrite of the first season of the winx club that I hope will be applied to all the season articles. So long as your edits of constructive, I will not get in your way and perhaps I may even help you.--Kevin586 17:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Kennyrevealed02.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Kennyrevealed02.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ejfetters 07:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Winxbloomcrp.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Winxbloomcrp.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great job on reorganising the M1 Helmet article last year. I started that article in 2004. Isn't Wikipedia great! --Chris Wood (talk) 09:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not threaten an edit war, as you did with your hidden comment on List of television series canceled after one episode. If you are an admin (or even if you are not), you already know that such a threat is doubly discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines and policies. If there is repeated removal of Viva Laughlin despite its been canceled on Australia's Nine network, I'd suggest punching up the writing to emphasize it and de-emphasize its three-episode run on CBS. Wanted to discuss the merge suggestion you put in for the page above with the page for High-definition television in the United States and get your take on it. Factually speaking, because DTV-in-US and HDTV-in-US are distinct concepts and are only incidentally connected in this context by the transition from analog to digital broadcast in the US, I'm not sure a merge would be appropriate (though the DTV page could use some serious edits to help with that distinction). Mind if I remove the merge suggestion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Flagster (talkcontribs) 00:33, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am afraid that I would mind if you or anyone removed the notice to merge the articles. The content of both the articles is very similar in that both explain the history and pending adoption of digital television in America.
Now it is my opinion after reviewing the digital television articles of other countries that it is only in America we make distinction of High definition television and digital television. It is my belief that editors have erroneously interchanged the terms confusing a broadcast transmission [digital television] with what that transmission can contain [high definition content]. I believe that the article on HDTV will prove my argument.
I agree with you that a lot has to be sorted out the article Digital television in the United States. If I were not relegated to dial-up internet access, I would be leading the way in article improvement such as:
  • The addition of a “History” section explaining evolution and adoption of the digital television as a broadcast standard in America. I have one magazine article from US News & World report from April 1998 that discusses digital television and the initial 2006 deadline to transition.
  • The addition of a “Rationale” section explaining the benefits of digital transmissions superior television and the theoretical communication technologies of reusing the allotted broadcast spectrum.
  • The addition of a “future event” template to a new section “Analog Broadcast shutdown of February 2009’’ or something to that effect discussing the history to eventually end all analog broadcasting by the American government and the preparations the pending deadline
In generally, I would like to see the technicalities of digital television be left to those definitive articles because most articles are getting repetitive and with the information overload, editors are being spread thin in trying to maintain it all.--Kevin586 (talk) 18:11, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Winx Club (season one)

[edit]

I've grammar-checked, spell-checked, and rewritten it so there's less redundancies and unrelated links. I've also added a few references and changed the mixed 4kids and original terms to the original/RAI. Could you help and see if I've missed anything, or if any of the tags at the top could be removed? Thank you, Cailunetrawr 04:14, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reviewed your edit to the first season of the winx club article (and other relevant contributions) and I would like to point out that the “references” would be best renamed to “notes”.
In regards to the tags, I do not think there will be any complains if the “Quality Standards” and “Plot Summary” tag were removed. I would like to say the same thing about the “wikify” tag but would prefer that stay since I think there is still more to be linked but that my own personal opinion.
If you want to, can you go through the article and bold the first instances of important characters and places? Main characters, secondary characters and places that appeared throughout the season would be my standard for inclusion.--Kevin586 (talk) 19:57, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. Cailunetrawr 01:20, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest

[edit]

Your edit to this article has come up in talk. I agree with Estemi that it wasn't the best edit, AoC has traditionally not been the basis on which the word is applied. I am less critical of your adding the word 'suggestive', that does sound appropriate, I just think that 'erotic' should have remained, and that both could be used together.
