TV ratings in articles

[edit]

I consider them to be a violation of WP:INDISCRIMINATE; Wikipedia is not a parents' guide for television/film ratings, and classifications are not usually discussed in an article unless there is something related to them that is sourced and notable (i.e. Deadpool becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, for example). ViperSnake151  Talk  19:17, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I get that Wikipedia is not a Parent's guide.
I just think that the info on ratings classification of each program is both very relevant to the channel, and deserving of this list as the info is not available anywhere else on the web.
Honestly, deleting this info is counter-intuitive when the info is genuinely relevant to the channel and it's history and doesn't harm the article. Konnerd (talk) 00:37, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WP:ITSUSEFUL is not a policy-based argument. No other page does this; it's original research and trivia. ViperSnake151  Talk  01:19, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

I'm deleting the age rating edits you made to List of programs broadcast by Teletoon. Please add a source the next time you make these types of edits. See WP:SOURCE. Dinoz1 (chat?) 13:49, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You should have left them in. I have sources for each one.
Here is one for Dilbert's PG rating http://www.teletoon.com/cgi-local/program.cgi?start=D (plug this into the wayback machine) Konnerd (talk) 01:09, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Per TV ratings in articles, Wikipedia is not a parent's guide. Please read the WP articles linked or you'll eventually be blocked. Dinoz1 (chat?) 13:51, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A couch isn't a bed, but sleeping on one is sometimes better than a bed.
I will follow what you say because I don't care to argue any further, but I just want you to ask yourself whether you like to trivially follow rules for the sake of following rules? or if you use the rules to actually make wikipedia a more informative place?
One of these options has more significantly more basis in reality, and more practicality to wikipedia than the other.
Long story short: if you're gonna be a cop, do stuff that helps the community as opposed to hinder it. Konnerd (talk) 19:49, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, what? What I'm doing is the whole point of Wikipedia, the edits you're making were breaking several rules, in conclusion, you're the one hindering the community. Yes, your edits WERE informative, however, once again, per multiple rules, was not necessary. Seeing your account was created 7 months ago, I highly recommend you review the rules and principles of Wikipedia before you end up getting blocked. Take this as an example, if someone was causing a car crash and speeding, it blocks the entire highway either way. Police have to clean the situation up, and in this example, you're the one causing the car crash. Anyway, glad you've realized your mistake, and this is the end of the debate.
