Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! NDKilla 21:11, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- @NDKilla OMG thank you!!
- No problem, you might also want to create your userpage at this link. NDKilla 21:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Hi friend~ NDKilla How can i link these pages to the page I created? :( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Gibson#Philanthropy http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/mending-kids-international
- I only know how to put them in the external links instead of linking the wiki pages together for the first one.... (T.T)
You can link to articles on wikipedia.org by using [[Mel_Gibson#Philanthropy]] this becomes Mel_Gibson#Philanthropy and you can put a | to change the visible text. [[Mel_Gibson#Philanthropy|philanthropy]] becomes philanthropy. If you want to use them as references, put them inside <ref></ref> tags. <ref>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/mending-kids-international</ref> becomes [1] but you must add {{reflist}} to the end of an article. Also, if someone hasn't talked on your user-page in a week or so, you may want to consider arching and deleting the text of your talk page.
NDKilla Got it! Thank you for all your help! :D Liuchaoyi (talk) 01:01, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
NDKilla I saw the change with the capital initals! You rock! Liuchaoyi (talk) 01:44, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. 220 of Borg 22:16, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- You seem to have created another page under the same name, but with ; added to the end. Don't worry about it, it will simply be deleted. :-) 220 of Borg 22:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for noticing it! After I created the page the first time, it was tagged for deletion and then when I search for it, I couldn't find it so I started a new one changed the biased tone. Then after a while the original one came up.... Now I'm working on the original one I think this one can be deleted. Thank you! @user:220 of Borg Liuchaoyi (talk) 22:28, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
I like how it was deleted for copyright violations of a page on wikipedia.. Is there no CSD for duplicates? >.> NDKilla 22:36, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- That was the CSD template for duplicates that I used. Doesn't make any allowance for accidental page creations. Too many editors doing cut-and-paste 'moves' I suppose. Needs a place to make comments, like "possible accidental page creation". Technically it would be a copy-vio, if it was a copy-paste, if anyone else edited it as the page history is lost. :-\
- Liuchaoyi if you ever find you have accidentally created a page, simply delete all text, with an edit summary saying why, and it will be deleted. If you can put a wp:CSD tag on it all the better. ie. "G7: Author requests deletion, or author blanked" Or you can also ask an Admin to delete it for you.
- I'm not exactly sure how the search function on Wikipedia works, but I know from experience it takes some time for new pages to be 'findable' or 'searchable'. If you type in the exact title it will work though.
- Hang on, shouldn't it be "Mending Kids International" ?! (All caps.) 220 of Borg 07:59, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I think it should be, but I'm not sure what to do about it. Copy to new article and delete this one or make it a redirect? NDKilla 12:49, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- You should n-e-v-e-r 'copy to a new article' to alter a page name. That is known as a wp:Copy paste move. If that is done then the edit history at the old name is 'lost'. To 'rename ' a page it is wp:moved to the new name. 220 of Borg 00:03, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- Should we move it? >~> NDKilla 00:43, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- Sure, just say why in the edit summary. It's capitalised in the lead I note. If you enter it's page name in the search box in caps you will be sent to the right page anyway, I found. 220 of Borg 01:01, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

MKI Edits Comment
[edit]Hey, although I'm really glad you are still contributing and your new article didn't get deleted, you recently made like 4 edits in a row to the page MKI. If you plan on changing several parts of an article, especially just renaming references, it would be more appropriate to make all the edits at once (or as many as you can remember), then make the edit comment "reference updates" or something similar. This makes it easier for watchers and other users to easily see all changes made to the page at a time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NDKilla (talk • contribs) 02:27, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Edit summaries
[edit]Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. 220 of Borg 02:52, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- NDKilla user:220 of Borg Didn't know that I need to put down change summaries. Thanks for the help guys!! Will keep an eye on it next time! BTW, is there any WIKI policies like, you can not only be editing one single page with your account? Liuchaoyi (talk) 00:45, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have indented your reply for readability. 220 of Borg 03:59, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- If an editor only edits one page then they are an SPA ( Single purpose account) Generally an editor is expected to be editing to improve, expand, and maintain Wikipedia (WP).See wp:HERE.
- If they only edit one page, but they maintain a neutral point of view, use reliable sources, and their edits are not promotional etc, that is allowed and all should be well.
- Some editors only come, make one decent WP page, then may never edit again.
- Others come with the purpose of pushing one fringe view or "To Right A Great Wrong". This is known as Soapboxing. One example that comes to mind is the view "Vaccinations are BAD and cause AUTISM". Some editors believe that with an unshakeable faith and are on a Crusade to Make the TRUTH Known!! And of course any attempt to use science to point out their flawed arguments is part of a Conspiracy by Big Pharma to Hide the Truth.
- Right now there is an editor who "Must have a page" on a particular person who is not very notable, and whose page has been deleted after an Articles for deletion discussion. But it appears they won't accept that. They created or re- created the page under several different titles, then used Sockpuppet accounts to keep trying to get the page on WP. They have even been Blocked for their disruptive behaviour, but are still trying.
- Unrelated to that, I came across one page that has been deleted about 16 times!
- Accounts that only create/edit one page, and don't adhere to NPOV are either people who have a grievance against the subject of the page when editing negatively, or if whitewashing a page are either the person it's about if a BLP, an employee or a communications manager (read advertising department). They may also be a paid editor, and from the pleading that goes on these seem obvious "I must have this page", with no real reason given i.e. "I won't get paid"! 220 of Borg 03:59, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Liuchaoyi: Comment: I think that making major contributions to only one page [or subject] would be welcome, but to edit in other areas if you would like to try but are unsure of what to do, you can discuss changes to other articles on the talk pages, and you can make minor edits to fix grammar/spelling/formatting errors.
- @220 of Borg: Can you link to help pages for minor edits, talk pages, and include any other helpful things you can think of? I'm still a noobie to editing even though I've had my account for 3 years.— Preceding unsigned comment added by NDKilla (talk • contribs) 16:46, 7 December 2013
