Conflict of interest

[edit]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article User:LynnSGrubb/new article name here, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:06, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We must, in order to protect ourselves, be rather draconian about copyright. We need the information, but cannot violate the rights of the copyright holder by stealing their intellectual property. This is a non-negotiable rule here and cannot be breached just because you admire the elegance or eloquence of some copyrighted text. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:06, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lynn,

You can reach me on my talk page ("Talk" link to the right of my name in my signature.) Use the "new section" tab at the top of the page to start a new discussion there, or edit the appropriate section of the page once you've already left a message.

The ironmasters I was thinking of were three of the sons of Henry Bates Grubb: Edward Bates Grubb, Sr., Clement Brooke Grubb, and Alfred Bates Grubb, who were involved in operating several iron furnaces in the vicinity of Columbia, Pennsylvania, as well as the Mount Hope estate. (Incidentally, some research leads me to believe that E. Burd Grubb V is alive in Florida, so that branch isn't quite extinct.) Choess (talk) 05:28, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How to change an article name?

[edit]

{{helpme}}

I am working on a userspace draft currently named "Grubb Family Iron Empire". I want to change the name to "Grubb Family Iron Dynasty" before I move it to public space.

How?

LynnSGrubb (talk) 20:03, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MOVE should help there. You could just leave it as it is and just use the title of your choice when you move it to mainspace. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:19, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
