- @CycloneYoris: Subject clearly passes WP: NPOL as the member of Bangladesh legislative assembly. Maliner (talk) 21:05, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, but it still needs more sources. Other stubs created by the same author have been sent to draftspace because of this. CycloneYoris talk! 21:08, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @CycloneYoris: You missed something there, the stubs sent to draft space had no sources. If the article is just one liner and a valid source is provided, I doubt any reviewer will send an NPOL passing candidate to a draft space. Anyways, I will add more sources there. Maliner (talk) 21:20, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- I guess you're right! I'm just being extra cautious since the author has been warned recently due to disruption. Though it seems that before they weren't adding any sources at all. CycloneYoris talk! 21:38, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Done per request. Hi @Maliner
Hello, I hope you are doing well. Could you please return the article to my draft? I am still working on it, and I would appreciate being asked before any further changes are made. Thank you. Regards, Riad Salih (talk) 18:22, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Riad Salih. I moved it per your request at WP:RM. You can work on it in mainspace too. I can send it to your user space again, but this is a bit weird for me to send back the patrolled mainspace article to draft space again. You can do it yourself too. Maliner (talk) 18:32, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi back @Maliner I never asked for the article to be moved. Could you please send it back to my draft space? I still need to work on several aspects of the article, but not in the mainspace. I could have done it myself. I didn't want to come across as rude. Have a great day!" Riad Salih (talk) 18:35, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

- @Maliner, yes. A few weeks ago, I asked him to clear the article if he could, but not to move it. Could you please move it back if possible? Thank you. Regards. Riad Salih (talk) 18:45, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Riad Salih Doing.... For me it appears to be a good faith request by an experienced editor, Aymatth2. Maliner (talk) 18:48, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

SIGCOV Question
[edit]Hi there! I was reading your comments on the Tehrani draft, and realized I may be misunderstanding something. Both you and a previous reviewer said interviews don't count for establishing notability. Do you happen to remember where that's codified? I couldn't find it in the policy pages, but I'm also pretty new, so am probably missing it. (N.b.: I agree that Tehrani does not appear notable in any case, this is just to help me be a better editor in the future.) If you don't know off the top of your head (or if it's a convention, not a formalized policy) that's also okay, I just figured I'd ask. Either way, thanks for your time! EducatedRedneck (talk) 16:01, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- @EducatedRedneck: Thanks for your kind intervention. Please see Wp:primary sources. Maliner (talk) 16:07, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- Aha! It was in a footnote! Gotcha, thank you so much; I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. Now I can send others the same way, if needed. Thanks so much! EducatedRedneck (talk) 16:08, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. I will have more references, but as it stands, based on the interviews already included, I would be fairly convinced that the article does meet the criteria for musicians (under 'others'). It might not happen today but I'll be working on it. --Ouro (blah blah) 07:26, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Ouro: Good luck. 😊 Maliner (talk) 07:38, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- All right, how about this: I have added one ref (under the Further reading section in the article You moved to my name space); this is a book written about the Hungarian music scene with a particular strong focus on the subject, and in fact, sections on Palotai are actually available for viewing on Google Books. I don't know if it would be enough to justify notability per Wikipedia guidelines but I think it's quite strong. --Ouro (blah blah) 07:45, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Edit: It's here. --Ouro (blah blah) 07:46, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Not that I've read some more of this reference, I will definitely be able to include much more in the article based on it. I'm certain I can get it up to an appreciable standard. I will appreciate any of Your input. --Ouro (blah blah) 07:50, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

- I know I am cluttering up Your talk page, but! I have added one more reference. Thing is, it is an article that I actually wrote. I am not sure whether it would be allowed. Anyway, I'll be working on the page and will submit it for review in due course. --Ouro (blah blah) 08:10, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

While I understand that the page lacked sources and should have been put into the draft space, the link I put should not be a broken link as you've suggested. I can access it quite fine and it is the Secondary Education General Directorate's website (under the Ministry of Education) which mentions the history of the school alongside 99 other schools in Turkey.
I added another reference in order to source the number of students and the person who occupies the position of headteacher. I will try to add a few more sources for the history as the High School is also mentioned in Şevket Beysanoğlu's History of Diyarbakır and it shouldn't be that troubling to find other sources to cite.
Please notify me if you have any recommendations as it is my first time creating a page for an institution :) BayNuman (talk) 10:06, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

- Hi again, I've cleaned it up a little and added a few more sources. I'll finish off the alumni section with full citation later. Would that be enough to put it on the main wikipedia space? Thanks for your feedback.

Re: last mail
[edit]Hello Mal, thanks for reaching out. My thoughts on the editor are at User_talk:Macbeejack#Regarding_the_COI_tag_on_the_article._Sandesh_Lamsal. I am just not doing anything about it right now, as I am taking a break from unpleasant business for a while (fun though it is to receive messages like the last one on my talk page). As for the article, the topic should be notable, it's an important hospital. I did find a couple usable sources in my quick search. Draftification was good. They should have put in a bit more effort into it before moving it back. If it went to AFD, I would not vote to delete, but I would support draftification. It would be fine to tag and mark reviewed as well, and handle the editor conduct separate from the article, since almost all of the NPP backlog is articles like this one and we don't have a way to deal with low quality high quantity article production, except case by case. Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:11, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks @Usedtobecool for your quick response. Maliner (talk) 16:22, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings Yamla: As Usedtobecool pointed out here, both User:SandeshLamsalNepal and User:WikiEditorNepali are trying to promote Sandesh Lamsal, a non-notable doctor from Nepal (probably himself) by removing COI/Notability tags. Please see 1 and 2. I agree with @Usedtobecool's observation that we are dealing with abuse of multiple accounts here. Any comments on this? Maliner (talk) 16:46, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I have blocked the user indefinitely. Note that they created the (highly promotional) article about themselves (
"fame as a Nepalese internet celebrity... innovative content... remarkable achievements"
) immediately after reaching autoconfirmed status, and that four of the ten edits needed were additions of articles written by themselves to medical articles — so yet more self-promotion there. Bishonen | tålk 10:04, 17 January 2024 (UTC).- Thanks @Bishonen. As @Usedtobecool pointed out above, I think he is the same User:WikiEditorNepali, who is abusing multiple accounts to promote himself. - Personally, I don't think there's enough to justify a CU there. There's nothing to suggest that the two accounts are the same person rather than one self publicist and one editor with an interest in Nepali topics. Another CU might disagree or see something I'm not. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:32, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Harry, did you notice this convo? I thought WikiEditorNepali's evasive reply to Usedtobecool's accusation of socking was sort of significant. Bishonen | tålk 12:43, 17 January 2024 (UTC).
- I think it's worth a CU. WikiEditorNepali was created 2 days after the article was created and, after a few minor edits, almost immediately honed in on Sandesh Lamsal. There's also the similarity between this and this. RegentsPark (comment) 13:16, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- First there were zero NEPAL editors doing MED, and then there were two. The second one found the article created by the first on their third day when the article was not even indexed. That said, it is my understanding that CUs need special training to get anything usable from checking editors in Nepal. A CU is not compulsory; you can block on behaviour alone if you find the evidence convincing. Usedtobecool ☎️ 13:36, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- The Indian subcontinent is notorious for providing ... complex CU results. Partly for technical reasons (huge population relative to the number of available IP addresses) and partly for cultural ones (lots of people on shared devices or connections, heavy use of mobile, etc relative to Europe and North America). For what it's worth, I ran a check on SandeshLamsalNepal; they're on some broad ranges, which I swept, and WikiEditorNepali didn't come up. I haven't checked WEN directly; I'm not convinced it's justified, especially as they didn't show up in my checks of SLN. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:23, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello everybody,
- I just came to know about the issue raised here. I want to say only one thing, I don't have any thing to do with both of these subjects. I am a medical enthusiastic so I am basically writing the articles related to Government Hospitals as they are easy to meet WP:GNG. If it's wrong to be focused on one topic of Wikipedia and create articles related to medicine or hospitals or doctors, then I might be wrong. But, I don't think its the right thing to justify somebody's intentions and work on the basis of anybody's assumptions witting on sofa and watching screen. I removed the tags on the article because other editors had significantly edited by changing the original POV plus I didn't see any defending argument from the editor who put the tag, for an enough period of time in the response of the reply of user:SandeshLamsalNepal. I haven't been involved in that article except on this issue which is very justifiable and obvious.
- Secondly, yeah the article might be sounding promotional at first but when I checked during the time of removal of tag, I found the tone neutral and the editor seemed not to have COI with the subject. Plus, I saw that the article was citing International Business Times, Online Khabar, Hamro Patro, Swasthya Khabar, Mero Film, Celebrity Nepal, APN News, News X, Local Newspapers such as Tulsipur Khabar, International Magazines such as Consul Magazine, etc. Moreover, I think if the articles about him aren't promotional as he seems to be a Nepal Medical Council registered doctor, plus he has been writing Medical articles since past 2 years. In addition to that while cross-checking about him, I just found even more independent articles such as this recently published.
- On the top of this, I agree with the point you guys raised, the article seems to have COI no doubt as the name of the creator and the subject matches perfectly.
- These are my points. I am new here and I particularly want to focus on my own articles related to medicine and rescue / create articles related to Nepali hospitals and doctors. That's my passion. Nothing is personal here. Happy editing. Cheers. WikiEditorNepali (talk) 15:21, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- It is also worth noting that the blocked account, User:SandeshLamsalNepal is a medico, and WikiEditorNepali is also interested in medical topics; both are Nepali editors sharing the same broad range. Per the behavioural similarities above, as noted by other admins, doing the same reverts on the Sandesh Lamsal page makes this case stronger. Maliner (talk) 15:40, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Where did you get "sharing the same broad range"? I said WEN didn't show up in my checks of SLN. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:02, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

Request to move TeaMarrr page from draft to main page
[edit]Hi, After reviewing your notes, I have added several more facts to establish TeaMarrr as a notable artist worthy of a Wikipedia article. Info includes her at Essence Music festival, artists she has worked with, and her tracks for Issa Rae's TV series Rap Sh!t and Insecure. All the established, reliable music journals, magazines and websites have covered her and her work. They include Billboard, Notion, LadyGunn, Interview Magazine, Flaunt, Essence, Sheen, Refinery29, as well as mentioned by Vanity Fair, Grammy and Rolling Stone. Hello, Maliner,
You draftified this article twice today. Please do not move an article to Draft space more than once. If an article creator objects, they can move the article back to main space and shouldn't face draftification twice. This holds true whether you did the original draftification or it was done by another editor/patroller. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:09, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with Liz. That said, I also believe the article was not ready for mainspace. I'm not as good as some with AfDs, but I've nominated it for deletion.--Bbb23 (talk) 02:37, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz: Oops, my bad. It shouldn't have been moved to draft space twice per WP:DRAFTOBJECT. @Bbb23: Thanks for your kind intervention by opening an AFD. I have voted there. Cheers, Maliner (talk) 04:10, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Saintsfanatic123 (02:09, 30 January 2024)
[edit]Hi! I'm trying to publish a page. I've written it, but it's saying that my account is too new to move it to the draft space. What are the account requirements for writing an article? Also, it's saying that I don't have permission to add photos to my article - how do I fix this? Thanks so much! --Saintsfanatic123 (talk) 02:09, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- The gallery is already covered in Edith_Halpert#Opening_The_Downtown_Gallery. Please edit that article rather than creating a new article which is a huge challenge for new editiors. Please also be mindful of the tone in which you write. See WP:YFA and WP:42 for help. Star Mississippi 02:47, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Promo
[edit]Im confused how Gabriela Sommerfeld who is a government minister (running a country) could be "promoted" by mentioning that they once ran a hotel or a defunct airline or did marketing to tourists in her city? Victuallers (talk) 11:39, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings @Victuallers: I see I removed "
She has led airlines, she led tourism for Quito and she was CEO of a
leadinghotel
", as the tone appeared a bit promotional to me, but may be I am wrong. Feel free to revert if you disagree. Thanks. Maliner (talk) 13:32, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I think for a quick summary of what shes done then its good for establishing a summary of whats in the article. If I was a minister then I'd be happy for ppl to forget that I once ran a hotel. Victuallers (talk) 15:33, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Saintsfanatic123 (02:18, 8 February 2024)
[edit]Hi, I just wanted to bump this.
I've since attempted to publish the page, but it was taken down when inside my sandbox. Whenever you're available, I'd love to discuss what was labeled about "promotional" on my page so that I can correct it. I believe this 100% a mistake, and nothing about my page was promotional, as "The Downtown Gallery" has long been extinct.
Thanks,
Ethan --Saintsfanatic123 (talk) 02:18, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Saintsfanatic123: Two celebrated admins, including Star Mississippi and Bbb23 endorsed the deletion so I believe it was not a mistake. Check WP:NPOV. Thanks. Maliner (talk) 18:11, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

Question from ChefThymeLord (20:42, 19 February 2024)
[edit]Hello,
I'm new to the editing space here on Wikipedia (just a retired old guy who is somewhat articulate and very literally bored out of my mind at times).
I was about to embark on a few of the "Easy Edits" as recommended, and immediately noticed a large number of articles that look like small businesses marketing themselves. Something of little or no historical value, or that appears to be a giant "sales pitch" -- I'm assuming there's a protocol for handling those pieces.
Also, I am an American living in Japan for the past 32 years - Fluent in Japanese as well as Reading/Writing. Are there different mentors for different languages? Japanese is an arguable art form when it comes to prose (assembling of Kanji, etc.).
Best,
Tony aka (ChefThymeLord) --ChefThymeLord (talk) 20:42, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings @ChefThymeLord and welcome to English Wikipedia. You can try asking at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan if there are any senior editors who are interested in adopting you. Thank you. Maliner (talk) 11:46, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

Moving editnotices
[edit]Hello. When you move a page following an RM, you will see a message telling you whether the article has an editnotice that also needs to be moved. This is not done automatically, so you must follow the instructions on the move page and click the link to move the editnotice. Thank you. InfiniteNexus (talk) 18:27, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- @InfiniteNexus: It is very rare to deal with articles with editnotice on RM, so it seems I might have overlooked the editnotice somewhere. Thanks for the heads-up. I will be more careful next time while dealing with such rare requests. My apologies for any inconvenience caused to you. Regards. Maliner (talk) 07:58, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
