Locating an editor to design articles for contemporary composer

[edit]

Hi Matthew: I'm an active composer and want to include pages on the Wikipedia site that include: 1. Main biographical page in 21st Century Composers subcategory 2. List of classical compositions titles (148 compositions completed so far)(linked to main biographical page) 3. Separate listing for each classical composition (linked to main biographical page)

I really don't have the time to devote to learning the plethora of details involved with creating the Wikipedia articles, mentioned above.

I have the sheet music with descriptions and full length audio uploaded to the MusicaNeo sheet music site: http://creativeconceptenterprises2010.musicaneo.com/

Are there editors, yourself or others, that would consider doing this work for a fee?

Thanks for the help,

License tagging for File:Topological map of TFL rail systems.svg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Topological map of TFL rail systems.svg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:05, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nice map! Though I just wanted to let you know that Leicester Square has a typo and shows as "Liecester Square Road". Jared Preston (talk) 09:59, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but I don't think I'll bother fixing it. People think I'm a copyright violator and that it's useless in its current size, so hopefully it will get deleted and someone else will create something better on all fronts. Matthewedwards (talk · contribs) 19:37, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Don't be disheartened, Mr Edwards. It's just the file and not you anyone is worried about. It would have value on Commons at whatever size, if it survives PUF. Unfortunately that seems unlikely, but it certainly shows quite a skill at creating this sort of thing which you might be able to apply elsewhere (as I believe you do already). A tag has been placed on Template:MIint2 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it must be substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. [edit]

Since Magog's decided the file ought to be kept, I thought I'd say at this juncture that, given that in the past TfL have intimated to me the seriousness with which they defend their copyright, you should consider making some minor changes to the file to save yourself hassle in the future. I mentioned in the PUF discussion that I believe the station notation and junction notation are what push the file over the line, in my opinion. Although contrary opinions have obviously been expressed, these would not be difficult to change. For example, stations could be cutaway circles from thicker lines (which would also make the general layout more visible at smaller sizes) and junctions shown by a grey joining line. Something to think about; previous correspondence with TfL has been strong worded. In a separate thing, did you mean to use a deprecated template for a licence? Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 20:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed when I woke up this morning that it had been kept and I was actually going to come to you for some improvement ideas, both with regards to avoid any other problems in this matter, and also getting it passed through FPC. Regarding what you said at the PUF, Wikipedia's NY Map has sort of merged the information from a few different official NY Subway maps. There are different official maps for the five different time periods that MTA operates on: Rush hours (6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday–Friday), Daytimes (middays – 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., M–F), Evenings (8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., M-F), late nights (12:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., every day), and Weekends (6:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday). Unfortunately London Underground doesn't do that and to indicate service schedules I think would be difficult to say the least.

Any other suggestions you have I'd be glad to hear, unfortunately, I'm not sure what it is you mean by either "cutaway circles from thicker lines" or "grey joining lines" for junctions. Could you knock up a crude MS Paint image of what you mean, perhaps?

I picked the lisence because I've seen many regular FPC contributors use it in their photographs and files. Thanks, Matthewedwards (talk · contribs) 22:31, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded here (you'll have to forgive the low resolution, but it's only for the idea!). I don't think it's a better system, I think it achieves the same end without stepping on TfL's toes. I think it could be the single biggest way to avoid their wrath, actually (whether mine or a third version). Both are inspired by the NYC map.
Also were the files you based the licence use on only on en.wikipedia? Because it's only deprecated here, I think because all contributions have to be dual CC-BY-SA and GDFL licensed whereas this is only the latter. I can raise a Media Copyright Question if you would like. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 10:09, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I get what you mean now. In the process of doing it, but with almost 300 stations it's taking a bit of time, and I'm half way through boxing up our house ready for a move this weekend. Matthewedwards (talk · contribs) 15:20, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to point out that the particular style of diagram you presented isn't similar enough. Maxwell J. Roberts does a lot of alternative tube diagrams and he hasn't been sued once. However, please thicken the lines because at a small size it is hard to recognise at the very least. Thank you. --Marianian(talk) 11:19, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for commenting. I'm already working on that, actually. Should be up in the next few days but first I have to move house. Matthewedwards (talk · contribs) 15:20, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Matthew, very nice to hear from you again. Well, my allocations have evolved. Much less FAC reviewing. I now do mostly movement technocratic and political news at the Signpost's "News and notes", which is a weekly bun-rush (there is a deadline on wikis after all!). I do a little gnoming. And I've been offering mild pestering in the foundation's development of the FDC at Meta, while not wanting to run for membership (hey, grant applications are my profession ...). I really should look at FAC more; but in a month's time my annual RL crush will be upon me. Tony (talk) 07:54, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
