Edit Warring
[edit]Hi Mindxeraser! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of an article several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. VVikingTalkEdits 18:11, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Okay VViking, but you don't discuss - you do the same and revert ALL changes, not the one you are finding as not good enough contributions. I'm here to learn, so please advise what exactly you find wrong in the article and let's fix it instead of reverting to the 10 years old content. Thanks and and guidance much appreciated! Mindxeraser (talk) 18:16, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- One user already tried to point out some of the issues such as unsourced WP:PUFFERY "played hundreds of shows worldwide". Also including "
1000mods played countless live shows since their formation. List of all past and upcoming shows are available at bands website" is purely promotional. Including a link to spotify etc.--VVikingTalkEdits 18:22, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Understood, thanks. Removed link to Spotify, as well as the link to all the shows they did in the past. Same with the whole paragraph about festivals and gigs.
- Please provide further guidance what's wrong to either remove that part or adjust with the correct info. Mindxeraser (talk) 18:32, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Social media links
[edit]Please read the guidance at WP:NOSOCIAL. It explains "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject, one should generally avoid providing external links to: [...] 10. Social networking sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok), chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Facebook Groups), Usenet newsgroups or email lists." Thank you. signed, Willondon (talk) 18:36, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- But you removed the link to the band's website which is official page and opposite of the guidance above as well. Left that section as it was done by previous contributors and deleted all of my contributions for socials. Mindxeraser (talk) 18:39, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- The link to the band's official website appears in the infobox. signed, Willondon (talk) 18:49, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- And it was down bellow in external links for years (not a new edit), as almost every other band on Wikipedia.
- Examples:
- - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallica
- - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clutch_(band)
- - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colour_Haze
- - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truckfighters
- etc. - literally almost every band is allowed to put official page in the external links on Wikipedia. Mindxeraser (talk) 18:59, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- The link to the band's official website appears in the infobox. signed, Willondon (talk) 18:49, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry you're getting hit with a lot of policies and guidelines today, but there is a principle at WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS that what exists in other articles is not a valid argument for content in a particular article. But I did add a copy of the official website in the 'External links' section, as I'm not aware of any guidance that says it can't be in both. signed, Willondon (talk) 19:10, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
