03:47:36, 2 August 2014 review of submission by Bodrad
Thank you kindly for the very quick review and response to my draft submission. I think I understand your concerns and the changes required. I have attempted to address each of your suggestions, and also have a clarifying question. Again, I appreciate your assistance with this process and I hope that these changes are along the lines of what is necessary to publish this article.
Clarifying Question
You stated that I need to "improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable...". I am a bit unclear as to the best way to address this concern. Shall I include more references and citations? Or do I simply need to place the ones I already have more frequently throughout the article's sentences rather than at the end of paragraphs as I have done?
Addressing Notability
It seems to me the biggest issue with the article in its current form (and I do plan to flesh out the other sections more fully in the next weeks), is its notability. I have reviewed the Golden Rule and musician notability guidelines that you were very helpful in passing along.
Golden Rule
Significant Coverage I've included over 15 unrelated and independent references from sources including newspapers, magazine articles, well-known music corporations (e.g., ProMark and Zildjian), other musicians' websites, and online music stores. Nearly all of these discuss the topic directly and in detail. I understand these may not be enough, and I actually have other print sources that I have not yet had a chance to include as I was saving them for additions to the topic. I've listed these below to hopefully bolster the significant coverage requirement:
- Modern Drummer is the premier magazine/news source for professional drummers of all musical styles. One of my currently referenced articles is available online[1] - the others I only have in print form at the moment.
- Modern Drummer - March 2000
- Modern Drummer - September 1999
- Modern Drummer - January 1984
- German Jazz Magazines
- German National Newspapers
- Die Welt [6]- February 25, 1999
- Berliner Morgenpost [7]- February 23, 19992/23/99
- US Radio Stations and Newspapers
- WPRK/FM, Orlando - November 23, 1997
- Orlando Sentinel, Orlando [8] - November, 1997
- WLRN Radio, Miami - October, 1997
- KDSU/FM, North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota - September, 1997
- WUSB/FM, SUNY Stonybrook, New York - September 11, 1997
- Sun Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale [9]- February, 1993
Reliable Sources As mentioned on the Golden Rule page, these sources are newspapers, periodicals, and media stations, which fall under example categories of reliable sources. Please let me know if those listed above and those referenced in the current article are not up to standards.
Independent Sources All of the articles referenced and those listed above were generated by independent authors or interviewers. None were paid advertisements or otherwise arranged by the topic.
Verifiability I am a bit confused by the statement listed: "Non-independent reliable sources can be used for verifiability". Either way, I hope the sources I've already used and those listed above are considered verifiable. The answer to my question above will help me understand more clearly how often sources should be included/referenced.
Notability
- Multiple, non-trivial, published works in all forms
It is my contention that the listing above and those already referenced fall under this category.
- Non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country
The interviews and articles listed above cover this topic regarding several major festivals Abbey performed at in Europe
- Two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels
Two of Abbey's albums were released by Cadence Jazz Records, which contains notable musicians and is a leading label for independent jazz music.
- Musician who has been a reasonably prominent member of two or more independently notable ensembles
Abbey played for John Handy and Mal Waldron in several ensembles during the 70s and 80s, both independently highly notable jazz musicians.
- Prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city
Abbey Rader is the one of the only, perhaps the only, musician playing this style of music in South Florida. There are several newspaper articles and online mentions of his work in Miami that allude to this, many of which I have already referenced. However, I have found another: http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/crossfade/2011/08/abbey_rader_john_mcminn_pax_miami_august_24_2011.php

HELP!!!!!!!!!
Dear Missionedit,
This is my first year on WiI ssipediaI'vend I'm not on very often. I'm really bad with technology but Wikipedia is articlesomething my friends tell me I should use because I have PythonessofDelphihese useless facts in my brain that they say Wikipedia is the place for. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what to edit because I'm afraid of making a mistake and I don't want to make a new page because what if it's really bad and no one likes it? It's taken me a while to contact a host because I'm rather shy by nature and independent. What do I do???????
Sincerely, PythonessofDelphi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pythonessofdelphi (talk • contribs) 23:21, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hello PythonessofDelphi, it's very nice to meet you! I'd be glad to help you with any questions you have :) Would you rather be called PythonessofDelphi or Hope?
- If you want to make an article on Wikipedia, I would highly recommend using the Wikipedia:Articles for Creation wizard. This process helps make sure that your article is notable enough for Wikipedia, and that it has enough sources to support it's facts (it also helps make sure that your article won't get deleted in the future). What topic(s) would you like to create an article about?
- If you have information about a topic that already has an article, feel free to add that info to the article, but you should make sure that any facts you add are backed up with a reliable source. For information on how to put sources in articles, Wikipedia:Citing sources is very helpful. And if an edit you make gets deleted, don't panic :) It happens to everyone, even very experienced editors.
- I'll be on Wikibreak for the next week, so I'll take a while for me to respond to any messages you leave me. One last thing--when you post things on talk pages, make sure you type 4 tildes (~~~~) after your post. This will leave your username and the date. Cheerio! ~ Anastasia (talk) 01:11, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Missionedit (Anastasia),
- To answer your first question, I would rather be called PythonessofDelphi. I've heard of making new pages/articles in the sand box but what is Wikipedia Articles for creation?? Thanks a lot!!!! Pythonessofdelphi (talk) 12:14, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
- Articles for creation is a help feature of Wikipedia that makes it easy to find out if you should create your article (and how to create your article) by asking you a series of easy-to-answer questions. Click on this link, then click on the "Click here to create an article now!" button to get started! ~ Anastasia (talk) 00:16, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
Dear Missionedit,
This could possibly be my last question though I sincerely doubt it. How do you make the tabs like you had a button to make them on your talk page to make it organized.
Thanks again,
Pythonessofdelphi (talk) 00:16, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Pythonessofdelphi: Can you rephrase that question? No comprendo ;) Also, if you want to indent your sentences and such, use a colon ( : ) instead of a bunch of spaces. This will make it look like you want. ~ Anastasia (talk) 02:25, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
So the title of this message is Help and you can minimize the amount of space that it takes up. How do you do that???
- Thanks once more
- Pythonessofdelphi (talk) 00:23, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Pythonessofdelphi: What? I'm sorry, but I don't understand. Please make your questions coherent if you want them answered. I'll start a new section at the bottom of this page to keep this one from getting too long. Click here to get to it. ~ Anastasia (talk) 04:24, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Missionedit,
- I figured out my question on my own but now next question. I see all these people with projects. How do I get involved????? Pythonessofdelphi (talk) 01:33, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- HELLO PYTHONESSOFDELPHI!!!!!! I AM USING CAPS BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT BEEN RESPONDING. I HAVE BEEN ASKING YOU TO PLEASE MAKE YOUR SENTENCES COMPLETE FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DON'T, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU, AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS!!!! Thank you. I started a new section at the bottom of this page to keep this one from getting too long. Click here to get to it. ~ Anastasia (User talk:Missionedit#to) 16:43, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Reverting at your talk page
I usually only revert really nasty stuff at others' talks, but I went ahead this time. I hope that was okay. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:07, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Yes? :)
Pythonessofdelphi, Please continue your questions here. ~ Anastasia (talk) 04:28, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- As an answer to your question about WikiProjects, you can get involved with any WikiProject you want by adding yourself to the member list of that WikiProject and reading their homepage to see what they need help with. To find a WikiProject you're interested in, go to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory page and look around. Or, I can help you find some, if you like. What are you interested in? ~ Anastasia (talk) 16:50, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Missionedit,
- I am interested in Greek, Egyptian, and Roman Mythology and the Texas Revolution.
- Thanks!!!Pythonessofdelphi (talk) 00:37, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Pythonessofdelphi: Wikipedia:WikiProject Mythology and perhaps WikiProject Texas or WikiProject Military history might be of interest to you, then. Check them out and see what you think! Thanks for making an effort to make your grammar easier to understand :) Sorry for yelling at you earlier, I just needed to get your attention. ~ Anastasia (talk) 16:02, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Fundación Aladina
Hi, I´m working on the translation for a new page on the Fundación Aladina, I´m working on the spanish article and decided to translate it. Could you help me out checking the links? They told me the format is ok, but that the reviewer couldn't check the links because some are in spanish. Thanks.--FMateos (talk) 09:02, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- I'd love to be of service :) Where is it, exactly? ~ Anastasia (talk) 14:47, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- Its in my sandbox, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:FMateos/sandbox thanks--FMateos (talk) 07:49, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- @FMateos: Done - Who was the reviewer? I checked the links, and I believe that you may need a few more sources to establish notability. Nice job translating :) One suggestion--the "See also" section is only for links to Wikipedia articles, not links to other websites, which belong in the "External links" section. ~ Anastasia (talk) 14:53, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

14:42:50, 11 August 2014 review of submission by Salmaawakening
I need to understand a small point. Is it rejected because the subject is not notable, or because there is not enough references that he is?
Salmaawakening (talk) 14:42, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Because there are not enough references. If you can find more independent, reliable sources, this would help establish his notability. ~ Anastasia (talk) 17:24, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome -- now what?
Hi // Thanks for the teashop welcome! I'd love to get started as a wikipedia editor, but I'm not really sure the best way to get going. There are certainly topics I know about, but it's not clear to me the best place to get going. Are there lists of tasks that I can work through, preferably starting with fairly minor copyediting or other straightforward activities while I get the hang of it? Thanks! Breandank (talk) 09:33, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Breandank! I'm so glad that you are enthusiastic about editing Wikipedia! If you want to find some minor jobs to do, there are plenty that need to be done. The Wikipedia Typo Team is a WikiProject dedicated to--you guessed it--correcting typos. This is a great place get started, so take look at the page to see how you can help. Also, if you are really serious about learning how to help out Wikipedia, Adopt-a-user is a program in which an experienced Wikipedia editor mentors you, giving a big intro in to many areas of the WikiWorld :) This mentorship lasts awhile, though, so prepared to be committed. That's all that comes to mind right now, but if I think of anything else, I'll contact you. Thanks again! ~ Anastasia (talk) 17:47, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

- Hello again, DURYODANAN! Nice to see you, too. I have a few things to say:
- Please to do not type with the Caps Lock on all the time. This is equivalent to yelling in computer etiquette, and is extremely rude and annoying to many people.
- Thank you for your gifts and encouragement :) However, one or two barnstars/kittens/cookies is plenty, no need to give any more to me.
- What do you need your question answered for? Something Wikipedia related, or something for school? If it's something for school, then I'm not really supposed to help with that. Talk pages are for Wikipedia related work only. If you have a homework question, than feel free to ask it at the Wikipedia:Reference desk.
Thank you for your suggestions. Why did you say that you know me? It's a lie. I know you and you know me but you know me with a different name. Do you remember what was my old name? I have one doubt. How can we change our username on Wikipedia? How can I find my friends who are in Wikipedia? I am a school girl. I am from Kerala,India. I know Malayalam,English,Spanish,Russian,Tamil and Kannada. Are these qualities enough to qualify me as your friend? Bye, my dear friend. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DURYODANAN (talk • contribs) 12:32, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

- @DURYODANAN: Yes, you can call me Ana, and that's alright, no feelings hurt. I remember you; your previous account was blocked because of disruptive editing--you were using Wikipedia as way to make friends and talk to people, and not contributing to it. If you continue to do so, your account will be blocked again. As for teaching you English, I'm afraid I can't, because Wikipedia is not a classroom. AfCs.
Your help with AfC reviewing is greatly appreciated. Perhaps I might make some suggestions on the basis of experience; much of this is not as simple as it may seem.
1/Please be aware of the actual requirements of WP:PROF. The basic requirement is to show the individual an authority in their subject. The way people accomplish this is by publishing work that is highly cited . There are also some simple unambiguous ways this status as an authority can be demonstrated: holding a named chair at a major university, receiving a major national or international prize, election to a major national level society, being editor of an important journal. Proof of any one of these is fully sufficient for notability. We accept a published curriculum vitae or biography on a university web site as sufficiently reliable proof for this, tho additional sources are desirable. I have consequently accepted several of the afcs you have recently declined. (There are often problem with promotionalism or copyvio which require rewriting, but this is distinct from notability)
2/ Remember also that being a member of even a state or provincial legislature, or a national cabinet minister , is enough for notability. Nothing more needs to be proven if this can be shown from either news reports or official sources.
3/Although the prebuilt templates do not provide for this, there is a key difference between an article which needs better evidene to show the possible or probable notability, and one where there is no chance of showing notability at all. It's necessary to leave a specific comment to this, in order to discourage people from hopeless efforts at rewriting that will never be accepted. I find that at present the only way is to place a specific warning to that effect on their talk page. In extreme cases, where the material would be a clear A7 if it were it mainspace, the article should not be allowed to remain--I have nominated a few you declined for MfD, though speedy as a test page is also available for the worst of them, especially Facebook-style BLPs. (You may have noticed twinkle is currently not doing this--it has to be done manually. I've filed a bug report. )
4/The accepted standard for accepting an article is that an article will probably pass AfD. An acceptable stub is enough. If the submission can be reduced to a stub and accepted, I sometimes do that. It can be developed further later, like all articles.
5/it is probably very confusing to new users when you sign your name as Anastasia, but the edit is recorded as being by Missionedit. I'm not in the least a new user, but I thought I was seeing two different people, one accepting or rejecting an afc, and the other commenting.
I'm very willing to help you deal with problems--just ask me on my talk page--it's the only place I'll see them. (or use the notifications system--I do now see these also). DGG ( talk ) 04:51, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- @DGG: Thank you so much for stalking me and fixing my problematic edits! Sorry you had to spend all that time :-$. I'm relatively new to AfC (as is obvious), and joined because I saw that the project needs more reviewers. But I lack experience sadly in this area, and make plenty of mistakes. I had noticed numbers 3,4, and 5, but didn't know how to deal with them. Thanks for making me aware of 1 & 2, I'll be more careful in the future. I'm so grateful for your help and will ask you if I have doubts or concerns. Thanks again! ~ Anastasia (talk) 17:14, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for listening! (we don't call this stalking--stalking is a negative term here, used if I were checking all your work to find as many problems as possible or oppose you on everything you did, not just following up a single problem in recent edits) And the easiest way to do 5 is to use Missionedit as your sig. The next easiest is to use "Anastasia (Missionedit)" or "Missionedit (Anastasia)". The most complicated way is to ask for a rename. DGG ( talk ) 08:58, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

THANK YOU
Hello Missionedit,
Thank you for the badge! I am fairly new to Wikipedia but, I hope to be a good contributor to the website. Would you mind giving me some tips on making my Talk Page more effective? I do do through other pages and tutorials to learn everything I can. But, sometimes (due to the way I learn) it is a little confusing. I need a WIKI MENTOR!! :-) Thanks again and I hope to remain in contact with you. Ask Molly 18:09, 16 August 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Molly's Mind (talk • contribs)
- You're very welcome :) I'm glad you're so enthusiastic about learning to contribute to Wikipedia! If you would like a mentor to help you learn about Wikipedia, try WP:Adopt-a-user. This is a program in which experienced Wikipedia editors mentor newer editors. Just so you know, every time you write something on a talk page, you should "sign" it with 4 tildes (~~~~). This will produce your username and the date. Also, every time you respond to someone on a talk page, indent your response with another colon (:) so that you can see who's saying what easier. For instance, you left the first message on my talk page (which doesn't need a colon), so I indented my response with 1 colon. When you respond to this message, you should indent using 2 colons. A little difficult to explain, but easily done. ~ Anastasia (Missionedit) (talk) 18:27, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks again! I thought I had been using the tildes on my messages, we'll see if it works on this response! I did use the 2 colons as suggested, hope that works as well. Can't I just adopt you? You seem so helpful and constructive. I have seen quite a few "nasty-grams" from other editors who seem to have a need to flaunt their superiority rather than use their experience to actually HELP! :-) Tildes here, 4 of them >>>> Ask Molly 22:43, 16 August 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Molly's Mind (talk • contribs)

I'll just have to set up a few things, won't take me but a few days (my time in real life is a bit tight right now). As for those no-so-helpful-kind-of-nasty comments from other editors, I'd like to apologize for them. Most experienced editors mean to be helpful, but these days there are so many people who come into Wikipedia trying to make trouble, vandlizing and using Wikipedia for things other than what is was intended. This has caused lots of editors to be so on their guard that they forget that not everyone who makes a mistake is trying to bring down their world. Some editors have been around here so long they have forgotten what it's like to be a newbie :) Just remember, we're all human, and we all need a little grace sometimes. Or a lot of grace, in some situations :)
- So, would you like me to adopt you? I'd be available most days, and I'll always leave you a message telling you if I'm taking a Wikibreak. Like I said, it would take me a day or 2 to get your adoption classroom setup, as I'm not signed up as an "official adopter" yet. I'll contact you on your talk page when I've got it ready--ok with you? ~ Anastasia (Missionedit) (talk) 04:02, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Article Resubmitted
Hi Anastasia - just wanted to let you know I've finalized the additions (for now anyway) to the Abbey Rader page and resubmitted it for review. I can't imagine it not being approved as I've greatly expanded the references in both notability and breadth. Thank you again for all of your help! Bodrad (talk) 23:08, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Question
Hi Anastasia,
Tonight I will be looking at the other page we have set up and going through the points. My question now is, where can I send you information that probably should not be posted publicly (inflammatory comments from another person)? In hopes that you might have some advice to offer or perhaps "watch" the page, I wanted to send you some information. Thanks Ask Molly (talk) 20:35, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Molly's Mind: Hmmm. What sort info is it? The best place I can think of to post that sort of thing on Wikipedia would be your adoption classroom talk page--it's rather buried; hard to find if you don't know what you are looking for. And, I if remove this part of the message after you read it, no one will know what they're looking for :) I don't give out my email as a general rule.
- A few things to point out:
- Please try to remain calm and polite as is possible when confronting a rude editor, especially one who is more experienced then you. See WP:CIVIL.
- I reverted your edit which deleted that section from my talk page. If you really want the section deleted, you can do so again and I won't revert it. But I like to keep a record of all my talk page discussions for future reference, so I "archive", or move to another page, all my old discussions.
- I forgot to tell you--there's a box you can put on your userpage that says that I've adopted you. If you want it, just add {{Adoptee|Missionedit}} to your userpage. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 00:03, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Missionedit Thank you Anastasia, I will check all of that out. I will be back on later, very irritated with the guy who did and said what he did. Grrr. More soon! Ask Molly (talk) 00:18, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

I wanted to ask what a 'peacock' word is? My page was deleted as apparently it included a 'peacock' word. Would you kindly help me with the definition to that. I don't intend to bother you. If you are unable to help it's ok. :) Nice meeting you and please reply soon! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
- I'm happy to help :) A "peacock word" is, basically, a word which puts the subject of an article in a favorable light, and that isn't just stating the facts. Since Wikipedia is supposed to be a neutral and unbiased encyclopedia, we try not to use promotional words. For example, changing "coffee shop" to "a lovely coffee shop" promotes the coffee shop unnecessarily. WP:PEACOCK explains what a peacock word is in better detail. Just so you know, when you write things on talk pages, you should always "sign" them at the end with 4 tildes (~~~~). This will produce your username and the date. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 16:33, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Adoption
First of all, let me apologize for responding to your offer on your talk page. I saw the alert you had posted, but I was unsure of how to add {{Talkback|username}} to your post.
That said, I would love to be adopted. I'm really not sure what it entails, but editing Wikipedia seems to be a worthy endeavor, and I'm really quite clueless as to how to go about it. I'm currently a high school senior in the throws of college admissions, so I might not be too active on Wikipedia at the moment, but I'll certainly do my best.
Thanks!
- Great! Don't worry about the talkback, that's fine :) I'm so glad that you're enthusiastic about learning to edit Wikipedia! That's alright if you're not that active, we'll just play it by ear and do lessons when you have the time to spare. You'll find your adoption classroom at User:Missionedit/Adoption/Ntomlin1996. That's where we'll do lessons on how to edit Wikipedia and you can ask all the questions you want :) We won't need to use the talk page, all the lessons and such will be done on the userpage. I would recommend that you put it on your watchlist so that you you when someone edits it.
- If you don't know how to add something to your watchlist, it's easy! Go to the page you would like to put on your watchlist, and click the little star next to the "View history" tab at the top of the page. If you want to take a page off your watchlist, just click the star again. You can access your watchlist anytime by clicking the "Watchlist" button at the very top of the page, between the "Beta" and "Contributions" buttons. Your watchlist will show the most recent change to the pages you're watching within the past few days. If a page has not been edited within the past few days, your watchlist will not show it.
- Just so you know, you should "sign" all your posts on talk pages by typing in 4 tildes (~~~~) at the end. This will produce your username and the date. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 00:12, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Draft first article
Hi - I'm getting towards finishing an article on D.P. Thomson, the Church of Scotland evangelist (1920s-1960s) - and would very much appreciate your comments while it's still in my sandbox: Editing User:Ian Badenoch/sandbox.
I only created a Wikipedia account a few days ago and it's a sharp learning curve. A friend recently completed a page for Rev. Tom Allan and I thought I should add one for his colleague DPT. I didn't know DPT personally, but friends did. I hope I've been objective. I also hope that referencing DPT's own books - even though he saved time by self-publishing - is ok for the sort of points I'm trying to make.
Thanks
Ian Badenoch (talk) 19:55, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hello! Thanks for working so hard to get this topic covered. I moved the draft in your sandbox to Draft:D.P. Thomson, as the draft namespace is the preferred place for AfC submissions, and I also fixed some minor style issues. I believe you are ready to submit the draft for review; however, some of the writing style and unnecessary information that you included does sound a bit promotional (I know you probably didn't mean it that way). This may cause the submission to be declined. Also, the fact that many of the sources you cited are written/published by the subject may not bide well. Not that self-published sources are a problem in themselves (see WP:SELFSOURCE); the problem is that every article needs to cite at least a few sources that are reliable and independent of the subject to establish notability. See WP:Golden rule for more info. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 00:57, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Dear reviewer: I've re write the text for David De Cremer in a tone as plain and objective as possible. please see below- i'd be appreciative if you can give specific pointers as to which part still sounds not 'unbiased'. Thanks a lot--
David De Cremer is a Belgian scholar examining behavioral applications to organizations, management and economics.1,2 He is appointed at the University of Cambridge (UK) as the KPMG chair in management studies at Judge Business School. - This last well-meaning paragraph sounds rather biased, and much of it is either not necessary to the article and/or has no sources to back it up:
- He is known for bridging basic and applied research approaches that can be implemented in organizational and societal settings. He applies this evidence-based driven consultancy approach for a wide variety of companies around the world including Novartis, KPMG, and Huawei.3 His business experience spans from compliance and creating ethical awareness, leadership and coaching, to developing trustworthy cultures and reputations as a business asset.4 He has also developed a specific expertise at understanding the challenges that Chinese companies face in pursuing innovative working cultures.5,6 His evidence-based driven efforts are published as opinion pieces in a variety of newspapers (e.g. the Financial Times) to further societal awareness around these topics.
- If you can get this fixed, the article is as good as passed. Good luck! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 02:38, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
CONFUSED...
You're there again! Even your instructions about leaving you a message is impossibly cryptic and jargonesse! I'm sixty-four - reasonably intelligent and reasonably literate, yet a red mist comes up whenever I try to do anything on Wikipedia, and I'm beaten down and down by all this code-work and totally unnecessary complex arrangements about leaving messages. I really don't know why I'm still bothering. I left a detailed question the day before yesterday on a similar vein, after I had struggled to make an article I'd just submitted and had rejected fit the required criteria. I sent the question at the same time as I applied to join the Teahouse. I've had my acceptance and my badge, yet my question has, apparently, been completely ignored. I thought the Teahouse was supposed to be a 'friendly place to chat with other editors'? Why am I being ignored? Sorry to be coming across as all negative, but this is the effect your website is having on me. Surely, I'm not the only one having these problems? Steven Parkes (Sparkoparkes)Sparkoparkes (talk) 20:04, 3 September 2014 (UTC) Sparkoparkes (talk) 20:04, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Steven, very sorry for all your trouble. I'm glad you haven't given up on Wikipedia yet, I know it does takes a little getting used to. What page exactly did you ask your question on? There are lots of possible reasons why your question wasn't answered, but don't worry, you are not being ignored. Maybe someone couldn't find your question, or it didn't get saved. I don't know. But you can ask your question here, if you prefer, and I'll do my best to answer.
- One thing important to remember about Wikipedia is that it is almost entirely run by volunteer editors, such as you and me. That's why sometimes answers are not prompt--everyone has a real life to look after as well :) ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 03:06, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi :D I have a profioe at the Teahouse? Thanks.

My lost question...
That's just it, Anastasia... you say I can ask my question
'here' if I prefer, but WHERE, exactly, is 'here'? I'm typing
this out offline, in Notepad, at first, so that I can still SEE
your very kind reply to me about my ignored (or lost) question. If I try to go onto what I think is your page (?), your reply to
me disappears and I don't know what I'm replying to! I'm LOST
in the labyrinth that is Wikipedia! Even these, most basic, fundamental elements, such as where to
physically write, or send, my questions, are NOT AT ALL CLEAR,
to say the least! I've rarely seen such a user-unfriendly
website! I know this is NOT social media, and we're not here for idle
chit-chat. Wikipedia is a serious encyclopaedia and things have
to be done in a very stricktly-controlled way. Having said
that, WHY is it so DIFFICULT to even go to somewhere like the
Teahouse and ask questions about what's wrong with my submitted
article? I asked my question on the Teahouse page, and I followed procedure properly, signing it with four of those squiggly things, like you're supposed to when it's just 'talk.' That Teahouse seems a waste of time as far as I'm concerned - there are a load of questions on there that people have asked and you can click and find the given answers to, but MY question has somehow got lost, leaving me feeling very annoyed and also rather stupid, as I'm guessing I probably missed some vital coded character or something to ensure it went through properly? Then I see that there is a page called 'Articles for Creation' where I could ask questions, too! My article was entitled 'Walsall Lithgraphic Company'and was a brief profile on a former, large printing Company in my old, hometown of Walsall, West Midlands, U.K., where I was apprenticed. There is hardly anything about this now-defunct Business on the Internet, so it's almost impossible to cite references, etc. Now we get to the gritty business of WHERE I post this question for you? Your instructions about posting it on MY page or YOUR page is a bewildering puzzle, to say the least! I can't cope with stuff like this. Now I see the line 'Please click here to leave me a new message' so I'll try that. Hope you get this, and perhaps you'll get back to me somehow? Steve Parkes (Sparkoparkes) Sparkoparkes (talk) 17:06, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I got your question. You did it! You are not stupid--I understand, I couldn't figure out how to get around Wikipedia at first either. You've actually been doing a good job so far :) Apologies again for all the trouble you've had contacting people. I'll lay some instructions out for you, see if that helps.
- You can ask the question on this page by clicking the little "edit" button next to where it says "My lost question..." at the beginning of this section. This will bring you to a page called "Editing User talk:Missionedit". This is the page where you can leave your message.
- Scroll to the bottom and type your response there; this is very important to find where and what respond to. I think this is probably what happened before when you got confused, you just didn't scroll down to the very bottom of the page.
- Click the "Save page" button once you're done, if you don't do that, your question will be lost.
- If you can't find the little "edit" button, or if something else that I mentioned doesn't work, that's fine. You can just use the "Please click here to leave me a new message" thing at the top of the page again. Try following these instructions and see what happens :) ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 19:17, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
Okay, Missionedit - Let's see if this works. When my article was rejected, it mentioned a name next to it (can't get back now to tell you the name). I presume this person was another editor - should I try to talk to HIM about how I should progress with my article? Is that how it's supposed to work? Steve Parkes Sparkoparkes (talk) 20:17, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Sparkoparkes: It works - nice job! The guy who reviewed your article submission is User:Chris troutman. It doesn't really matter who you ask questions about your article to, but I guess it's customary to ask your reviewer questions as they have already looked at your article draft. So, you can ask him if you want. But if you prefer to ask me instead, that's OK, too. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 01:03, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Sparkoparkes: I left a comment on your draft that your draft is entirely unreferenced. Wikipedia cannot accept unsourced articles. I also replied to your post at the "Articles for Creation" help desk to report that I had declined your draft because it is unsourced. Please read our "referencing for beginners" guide as well as our criteria on organizational notability. Every draft must both be well-sourced and make a claim to notability in order to be accepted. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:09, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Okay - now I don't know who I'm replying to - Anastasia or Chris Troutman? I would really like my article on Walsall Lithographic to be able to get through all its difficulties and eventually be accepted on Wikipedia. My immediate problem is that there is little, if any, published material online about the former company, which is one of the reasons I wanted to GET some information about it on somewhere like Wiki! Because it no longer exists as a business, it does not have its own webpage. If you Google it, you get odd bits and pieces about some of its old posters and Metcraft Plaques that they produced, offered for sale. Or else, random magazines that they printed years ago held in a local museum. There is an article from a few years back, describing a visit by stamp collectors to Walsall Security Printers (the main, surviving offspring company from Walsall Lithographic), where they mention a little of the Company's history. Would any of this be useable as citable reference? And how should I go about doing that? As I mentioned in my 'lost' question, I'm not someone who has ambitions about being a Wiki Editor - that does not interest me at all! I simply want to write an acceptable article about this particular subject that will be suitable for inclusion on Wikipedia, WITH photographs (eventually), preferably - though I already read that to get photographs accepted in an article you have to have had ten 'edits' done first...? What on earth is THAT all about? Some strange rules on here, I can tell you! Any advice so far? Steve Parkes. Sparkoparkes (talk) 15:14, 7 September 2014 (UTC) I need to add this footnote. Chris - I just attempted to read your recommended 'Referencing for beginners' and, by the second paragraph, my eyes had glazed over and the old, familiar, red mist was rising fast. It seems, the only possible, available reference I might have used is not going to be acceptable, so heigh-flippin'-ho! Looks like I'm going to have to give up my attempt and leave the world ignorant forever about what Walsall Lithgraphic Company was all about. God - this makes me so ANGRY...! Steve Parkes. Sparkoparkes (talk) 15:41, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Sparkoparkes: What kind of sources do you want to use for the article? You are actually allowed to cite sources that are not online. For instance, newspapers, magazines, books, and even audio recordings are all allowed to be used as sources. Again, sorry that you are getting frustrated; everyone gets that way when people expect them to know how to do something unfamiliar without any help. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 17:42, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Anastasia,
Thanks for the welcome. Having joined an anachronistic book club (which eschews publicity, so seeks as little mention in this medium as possible) and recently become a regional tour guide, while I used to just be a little techy, I'm now techy with a history focus. And here's one wonderful medium for feeding that flame.
It's fun reading through the questions. My question is about adding info boxes to articles. I'm editing an article (Edith Anisfield Wolf) and need to put in a bio box. As an example, I look at Michael Scharf's article, and not sure how I get that bio box that contains his photo and bio info. Do I copy the whole thing into my article and edit as needed, like this?
Or is there a more kosher way to get the basic box?
Obviously I think I've answered my own question, but still did I snag the best code for my purpose?
Ohiohistorygeek (talk) 21:04, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- I think you've hit the nail right on the head :) {{infobox scientist}} is, I believe, the box you are looking for. And yes, just copy-paste and edit as needed. Looks like you're all set! If you need any more help with anything, I'm happy give it. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 01:43, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you so much. If you get a chance, please review the Edith Anisfield Wolf and Draft: Margaret W. Wong pieces.
- Wiki text (is there a name for Wiki Code?) is kinda fun. Unforgiving like HTML. But Wikipedia has a ton of built-in aides that make posting relatively easy, huh?
- I noticed after doing the Wolf article, other articles listed publications -- should I do this with Wolf's poetry books?
- While the Wolf article I felt okay about putting directly into production, the 2nd article I posted using the mobile article wizard, which suggested that putting the article into draft would permit other editors to help prep it for final article status -- and that this was preferable to putting it directly into the final article space. What's the draft process? I see the comment that suggests review Wikipedia:Drafts#Preparing_drafts, so I'm digesting that.
- I see that the period in the title looks odd, and so is prob not desired (guess I've never seen it, but is so normal outside wikispace I didn't think about it) -- how does one change the title of an article?
-
- I believe that the official name for Wiki text is "Metawiki Code", but most just call it "Wiki Markup".
- You can list publications for Edith Anisfield Wolf, if you like. Just make sure you list only a few important ones; we don't want your article turning into a resume :)
- The AfC draft process is just basically a way for an article to be reviewed before going live to mainspace. You write the article in draft space, then submit it for review. Then an AfC reviewer will come along and either reject the article to be worked on further, or accept it and "publish" it to mainspace. A little warning, though, there are 2,000+ articles waiting to be reviewed, and it may take a up to month for a reviewer to get to your submission.
- Which period in an article title are you talking about? If you mean the period after "W" in Margaret W. Wong, this period is actually supposed to be there, so no worries on that one. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 04:00, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you. I like your distinguishing an encyclopedic entry from a biographic entry. I'll be back with more questions... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ohiohistorygeek (talk • contribs) 19:00, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
Approved!
Daniel Edlen was approved! Thanks for your help. My question is about the subsequent edits. It was tagged as an orphan and needing sections. Do I fix these? Or do I let the editors work on orphans do that? And the article is only 2 paragraphs so I don't know if it really needs sections. Can I disagree and just remove the tag? How does that work? Thanks so much!Dedlen (talk) 12:14, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Dedlen: I'm so glad your article was approved! Yes, you are completely welcome to fix the problems the page that was tagged with. I don't really think the page really needs any sections either; if you think so to, you can remove the tag. No use tagging articles for problems that don't exist :) ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 17:29, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- thanks! So it won't upset the editor who added the sections tag if I just remove it?Dedlen (talk) 21:33, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Dedlen: I doubt they care. But if they do, and they replace the tag, make sure you ask them why they think the page should have sections and how to go about fixing it. But again, I don't think they'll care. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 00:59, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello Missionedit, Thank you for the welcome. I am busy with two articles. At the moment my abilities on Wikipedia are new. I wish to improve two or three articles as they interest me. I will then start to create new ones. The only that worries me because there are people who want it removed, I have tried to make it more serious and complete. Before the editors had it continually deleted. It is now on Speedy Keep, so hope it looks okay. I am not good at truly understanding URLS, and some are bare. Another article needed doing too, so from one article I go to another following links. Hope to hear from you.Spikequeen (talk) 21:48, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Reuse of Wikipedia information
I have opened a site which shows timelines using information taken verbatim from Wikipedia pages. It can be seen here: http://www.timelinecontinuum.com/Default.aspx
I have read the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reusing_Wikipedia_content, but not being a lawyer, I have difficulty understanding it.
I think I have covered my copyright liability by:
1. Including these phrases in the Sources section of my page:
"The data in this timeline is from Wikipedia's daily listing of world events." "The data was automatically converted from Wikipedia.org licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License."
2: All hyperlinks from the Wikipedia text are maintained in my data.
Any comments or assistance you can give me on this would be much appreciated, as I am keen to "do the right thing". The intention of this site, where Wikipedia information is used, is to make it even more useful and accessible.

The picture is great, but in order to use it on Wikipedia, you would have to upload it from your computer to Wikimedia Commons. Unless you want to do that, maybe it would be easier if you just told me what you wanted a picture of (eg. a purple butterfly on a pink flower; your favorite actor; or something else that you like), and I could find one for you that has already been uploaded.
