Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Hello, MolecularGenetics Fraser. Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. My name is Howicus, and I've been an editor here for some time. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

If you're working on creating a new article, you should take a look at this page on your first article, and use the article wizard here to get started. Also, this page has instructions on how to cite sources, complete with videos.

If all this Wikicode is a little overwhelming, this cheatsheet may help untangle it.

If you're looking for a tutorial of sorts, The Wikipedia Adventure is a good option.

And if you need more help, I'd recommend getting live help at the Wikipedia help chat channel: click here to join. Additionally, you could ask me on my talk page, try the Teahouse (a help page for new users) or click here to ask for help here on your talk page and a volunteer will visit you here shortly

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, welcome, and have fun editing! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 20:57, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

[edit]

Hi there MolecularGenetics Fraser! I noticed your recent contributions to a few microbiology articles. I'm glad to have another person interested in microbiology on board! There's so much to do, and we could use all the hands we can get! Starting out here at Wikipedia can be a bit bumpy. There are a whole lot of policies, norms, and formatting to try to learn all at once. So I just wanted to reach out and say that if you have any questions about anything, feel free to leave me a message here or at my talk page. Also for general questions you could try The Teahouse which is meant to be a friendly place where newer editors can go and get their questions answered.

Also if you're planning on sticking around and working on microbiology-related articles, perhaps you'd be interested in joining WikiProject Microbiology! WikiProjects are a way to organize editors interested in a topic as well as articles that fall under that interest. If you're looking for somewhere to get started or some problems that need fixing, that's a good place to look. Anyway, I hope so far things are going well and that you decide to stick around and help us all improve the coverage of microbiology topics here! Happy editing!
