Information icon Hi NelsonLee20042020! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Kalwant Singh several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Kalwant Singh, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 12:30, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Regarding your recent actor articles creation

Hi NelsonLee20042020, I noticed that you recently started to create BLP articles pertaining to actors such as Joo Jong-hyuk (actor, born 1991) and Park Ho-san, however there were some issues with the articles created. Firstly, filmographies should be presented in table format as per WP:FILMOGRAPHY instead of long list format. We are also no longer listing the television networks and/or streaming platforms on South Korean actor/actress articles as per local consensus on WikiProject Korea which is also inline with the examples at WP:FILMOGRAPHY. Please also italicized the title of the works per MOS:TITLE. For, television series/shows with multiple seasons, please combine them together instead of separating them, you can see the example at Park Ho-san#Television series for The Penthouse: War in Life. Secondly, contents in the Infobox such as education and agent, are required to be sourced if they haven't been in other portion of the article. Lastly, contents in the lead section such as date of birth are also required to be sourced. In addition, noticed on Park's article, these two sentence ("He made his debut as a musical actor in 1993 before subsequently expanding his acting career into film, stage and television" and "He is currently married with three sons in his personal life") also unsourced which I have removed them per WP:BLP, you can add them back if reliable source are provided. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Abdul Rahim Shapiee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Oh Hye-soo moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Oh Hye-soo, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Certified as a courier

I'm trying to understand what this phrase means. From reading some news I think it means that they didn't manage to prove to the court that they didn't know they were carrying heroin, which would allow them to escape the death penalty. Is that right? If so, this isn't the right way to say it. The word "certified" connotes an official status, so it sounds like the government of Singapore gives official permission to some people to import heroin, which isn't right, right?Central and Adams (talk) 01:09, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

@Central and Adams Okay. Don't mind if I gave a short lecture here, because from 2013 onwards (up till now), the latest drug laws in Singapore decreed that if any persons who can prove that they are merely acting as couriers whose roles were limited to delivering and transporting drugs, and if such persons additionally made substantive assistance to the police in tackling drug trafficking activities, the prosecution will issue these drug traffickers a certificate of substantive assistance to show that they were just couriers and they had cooperated with the authorities. This type of certificate can help the courier to at least have a 50% chance of getting life imprisonment instead of the death sentence (since it's ultimately up to the courts to decide). NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 01:58, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
You may refer to the cases of Yong Vui Kong and Cheong Chun Yin, as they were initially on death row before the law reform and they got certified as couriers. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 02:00, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
The phrase "certified as a courier" is not meant to legalize the trafficking of drugs by these people, but as a legal requirement for any drug traffickers if they want to escape the death penalty, as I explained to you in the first message. As long as these traffickers can prove they are just couriers and have cooperated with the authorities in a substantive way, the issuance of this certificate can make the courts to have the discretion to impose either life imprisonment or capital punishment. Although Yong and Cheong evaded the death penalty and got life sentences for being certified couriers, there are some traffickers like Abdul Rahim Shapiee who is recently executed on 5 August 2022 despite having been certified as a courier since he not only delivered the drugs but also received profits and repackaged the drugs for the purpose of trafficking. This proves my point that the courts ultimately have the final decision on whether you should be hanged or locked away for life. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 02:08, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
Holy cow, thanks for explaining! I wonder if you could put something about that in the articles, because it really confused me. Thanks again for your work. Central and Adams (talk) 02:38, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

Daryati moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Daryati, is not suitable as written to remain published. The criminal is not notable, but the murder is. This needs to be retitled The murder of Seow Kim Choo, and edited to show that. In other words, don't focus on the perpetrator, but on the crime, so the lead would need to be totally re-written, and then the "personal life" would need to be trimmed and renamed something like "The perpetrator". This does not need to go through AfC review, but I moved it to draft so that you could work on it without any interruptions, ping me after you've made the changes and I'll take another look.Onel5969 TT me 11:36, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Konerak Sinthasomphone.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Konerak Sinthasomphone.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:45, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vincent Lee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. excuse me, Onel5969. This is not the page i created. I create a page titled "Vincent Lee Chuan Leong", not "Vincent Lee". I made a redirect of the article with the exact same name but never expect this to be filled with someone else's edit. --NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 11:49, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
Don't worry i am going to restore the very first edit to my redirect to the article about a subject who was convicted of kidnapping and sentenced to life in prison by the courts of Singapore more than 23 years ago --NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 11:57, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 122.11.212.104. I used this network (which is my personal mobile data by Starhub) to edit many times before and there was no problem and it was not perceived as an open proxy for all these times I used this. I had no problem using either the school wifi or the home wifi to edit by the way despite the block. Not sure if got problem. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 10:18, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Procedural decline. You are not directly blocked and may edit from any IP that is not blocked. Yes, the IP is blocked but instead of trying to persuade the people who put it on to lift the block, I will instead direct you to WP:IPECPROXY where you may follow the directions and request IP block exemption, so this won't be a problem again. You've been editing for a while and haven't been blocked; that looks pretty good. — Daniel Case (talk) 07:27, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Speedy deletion nomination of Pulau Senang prison riots

Hello NelsonLee20042020,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Pulau Senang prison riots for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Pulau Senang prison riots to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Mentioning of race in your articles

Hello NelsonLee20042020, I'm sure you're not doing it in a malicious way. But unless the victim or perpetrator is of a different nationality that is not Singapore, or the crime was racially motivated, I don't see why you should really mention their race. "Singaporean" should suffice. Bringing up the race of either the victim or the perpetrator (either Chinese, Eurasian, Malay or Indian, etc.) is completely unnecessary and may lead to a generalised belief about a particular group of people. Okay, sure. I think you are right about this, but honestly its been like nearly thirty years. I doubt that such a thing would happen, especially since the son was not named or identified in any sources --NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 16:25, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

regarding the first paragraph of the 'Aftermath' section of Execution of Elke Tsang Kai-mong, perhaps it would be better to have it on the "Hong Kong drug traffickers" Category page if thats possible ? Another reviewer could deem it irrelevant to Tsang's case and delete it, plus we could add in more detail regarding other similar articles that were deleted ? Replaceable non-free use File:Yong Vui Kong.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Yong Vui Kong.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Better source request for File:Ching Bee Ing.jpeg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — Ирука13 03:28, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

WorldTravleerAndPhotoTaker (talk) 14:37, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Well, admittedly, the court judgements in Singapore cases are only available for those from 2000 onwards. Those from 1999 or earlier are not accessible, unless if some law students posted online the judgements of certain cases from the 1990s or earlier. So I am sorry that I cannot help you in this case, since I myself had searched countless times in the past but my efforts are futile. But still, I hope you have a good time editing in wikipedia.
--NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 15:07, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
oh yes, online records are available from 2000, but i am referring to actually submitting a request for the non available records to be released, either in paper form or electronic form, for a specific legal case. Is there a method of doing this in Singapore, or are these restricted to the public ? WorldTravleerAndPhotoTaker (talk) 15:55, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
Well, I am sorry, but I know no such avenue is available for members of the public who wish to look at those documents. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 16:33, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:Kelvin Lim Hock Hin.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Kelvin Lim Hock Hin.jpg.

Thank you. — Ирука13 10:45, 8 October 2023 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Ismil Kadar.png

Thank you. — Ирука13 13:15, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Muhammad Noor.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Muhammad Noor.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 14:39, 28 October 2023 (UTC)

Your contributed article, 1993 NUS professor murder

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 1993 NUS professor murder. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Murder of Lee Kok Cheong. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Murder of Lee Kok Cheong. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Wikishovel (talk) 16:58, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Sure, thank you. Actually it is just an overhaul-like improvement of the existing article, thought of merging but I am not sure how to ask on merging it. Having heard your advice, I choose to put the changes I made into the existing article instead. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 17:04, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, I am shortsighted on this issue. Should be more mindful actually. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 17:17, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Hey there! I've noticed that you have added a few sources from the NLB e-libraries at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Killing of Riana Agustina. However most of them are locked and can only be accessed at the multimedia stations at NLB libraries. I'm curious if you actually go to the library to access the archives, or if there's another way to access them online? Blissfulclarity (talk) 10:11, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Well normally we search in our home computers, naturally it is locked. But ofc we go lot the library to access them. The newspaper TODAY can be accessed in home also actually, because you can press on the whole page containing the article (regardless of whether it’s locked or not) rather than the article itself, then it will show the written content. The rest is not like that unfortunately, hence the library is the only place you can freely access the locked articles
but there is a fact you need to know as a reassurance, because starting from sometime last year, they begin to unlock access to articles dated about 25 years from now, like for example, the articles for November 1998 will be unlocked daily from the first to the last day as this year November is passing by, so at the earliest, we might be able to access from home the 2006 or later year articles relating to the wife murder case in the next eight years, and of course the issue is with how much time passes and the patience you have to wait until that point, but it doesn’t matter, since the fact is the unlocking is a gradual process applicable to those archived in NewspaperSG
NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 10:23, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

I see, thanks for the info! Blissfulclarity (talk) 10:54, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled user right

Hi NelsonLee20042020! I think you are an ideal candidate for the user right of autopatrolled (which allows the articles you create to be published directly to the mainspace, bypassing manual patrol/review). This is not only helpful to the user, but it also helps cut down on the backlog of new pages that need manual review, which is currently very high. With your permission, I would like to nominate you for this user right. Thanks! Wikipedialuva (talk) 06:43, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Thank you, I am obliged. You may go ahead if you wish to. I am fine with whichever outcome that may arise from the application. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 16:54, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi NelsonLee20042020, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Chetsford (talk) 04:53, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Notice

The article Abdul Rahman Arshad (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Konesekaram Nagalingam.png

Thank you for uploading File:Konesekaram Nagalingam.png.

Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to join New pages patrol

Hello NelsonLee20042020!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Can you find this image in newspaper archives published before March 2, 1989 (or ideally before 1/1/1978)? If so, it can be uploaded to the Commons under conditions. Current image was published February 14, 1973.--Kieronoldham (talk) 01:35, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
i tried to, but I failed to find any archives. Still, since the image of Allison Liu was published in books, we can assume that this is allowed

I tried to find the image myself, NelsonLee20042020. As well as the Commons one uploaded, I found the image of her taken (I assume) in the late 1960s with the short, earlobe-length hair fashionable at the time within 1973 archive newspapers, but I couldn't find the on her UCSC student card you used and on the article. If you want to supersede them be my guest. I am convinced the image of her on the UCSC card will have been printed in a newspaper in the 1970s.--Kieronoldham (talk) 00:04, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Illit (group). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 09:33, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

thank you for the clarification. I tried before to move another article to the correct title but that correct title article contain a redirect to the another article, and it didn't work
So I thought copy and paste might be a way out, never knew this is not the right way

MOS:CAPS and date formats

Hello, I have noticed many of your changes on articles such as Illit, Magnetic (Illit song), etc. fail to conform to MOS:CAPS and MOS:DATEFORMATS. You should write out names in standard title case, not all caps, and use the date formats that are used on the article that you are editing. I'm not sure if you're aware, but the Illit article uses the mdy format; as such, do not add dmy dates that goes against the standard usage on the page. This will help prevent other editors, including myself, from having to correct your edits each time you edit these articles. Thank you for your understanding. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 05:05, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

sure thanks for the reminder and my apologies for any inconvenience caused. I often use the dmy format and it's like a habit. Plus ILLIT is more commonly used rather than illit outside Wikipedia so I thought there's nothing wrong to use it NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 09:44, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

Thai name spellings

Hi. I'm wondering whether the Thai name spellings in some of the Singapore murder articles you've created are from external sources, or if they're your own back-transliterations? Because if it's the latter, I think it would be better to just not include them, as there's a significant chance of error. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:17, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

I kinda used Google translate. Not sure if this is still allowed? NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 00:21, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
It's not disallowed per se, but since machine translators are unable to recognise person names, which are not formed by usual vocabulary, they can often give incorrect results. I would highly recommend to just leave out the Thai script in these cases. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:03, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for the recent articles you've made. For any American based article please use MDY format for dates though, for example, 5 November 1968 should be November 5, 1968, for an article to do with America. Please do the same for any reference dates and access dates. Thanks. Inexpiable (talk) 18:20, 5 August 2024 (UTC)

Also for infobox dates use the following for people's date of births and death dates. For example, instead of: | birth_date = 23 November 1974 use {{birth date|1974|11|23}}.

If the person is still alive use: {{birth date and age|1974|11|23}}.

If the person is dead, instead of doing this: | death_date = 28 August 2020 (aged 45) use {{death date and age|2020|8|28|1974|11|23}} It will automatically calculate the age when the person dies with the DOB added after the DOD. Hope this helps and keep it up! Inexpiable (talk) 18:28, 5 August 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 02:06, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

Further articles?

Out of interest are you planning on creating the final two articles left for post-Gregg federal executions? Christopher Vialva and Alfred Bourgeois? It has always bothered me that Vialva redirects to the Brandon Bernard article as although they were convicted of the same crime his case was ultimately separate from him. Inexpiable (talk) 17:13, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

I'm happy to proof read them as well if you are like I did the others. Inexpiable (talk) 17:14, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
Sure. About the both of them, I am planning on reading the cases thoroughly before deciding on creating them (I might need time first). Thanks for wanting to help. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 00:15, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
My concern is, its hard to access any archives on Bourgeois's case prior to 2019. my searches on google news archive did not yield much results. Once I published it, may I enlist your help in this matter, like looking for the other archives on your side? NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 02:17, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

@NelsonLee20042020 i have found an excellent online resource that has archived judgements from the Supreme court in Singapore: https://www.lawnet.com/openlaw/singapore/judgments/supreme-court

I hope you find this useful ;) WorldTravleerAndPhotoTaker (talk) 10:59, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

Sure thanks. That means a lot.
Does it have full public access? NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 11:44, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

Article names

Hi Nelson. I've renamed some of the articles you have created. Just because some of the titles are a bit off. For example, with Christopher Andre Vialva, most sources just used his first and surname, i.e. Christopher Vialva, so that should be the title of the page, the middle name isn't needed. Similarly, "Execution of" before a page title should only be used for naming an article if the execution itself was notable. For example, Execution of Kenneth Eugene Smith is the appropriate page title because his execution was the notable part of his case. With Alfred Bourgeois, nothing about the execution itself was particularly notable, so the circumstances surrounding his case and murder victim better represent the article just being titled Alfred Bourgeois. Similarly with you recent article, Execution of Robert Dale Conklin, nothing about the execution itself was particularly notable. It wasn't botched and it wasn't outside of the ordinary. The notability in that case really comes more from the murder case, how the victim died, perp's time on death row, his execution etc. So Murder of George Crooks is a better fit. Inexpiable (talk) 11:12, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

sure, thank you I appreciate it and the reasons you gave are fine, even though I didn't agree to the renaming of the execution of Robert Dale Conklin NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 12:14, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
@NelsonLee20042020: Why do you think the page should be called Execution of Robert Dale Conklin though? As I said above, nothing about the execution itself was notable in the slightest, it was a typical U.S. execution. The last meal part might be somewhat different from normal, but that isn't really to do with the execution. Inexpiable (talk) 12:25, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
its just a personal opinion, but I thought that there is not much background about the killer or the victim, and I kinda feel the notability of the killer exceeds that of his victim, which is why I decide to opt for "Execution of Robert Dale Conklin" NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 12:26, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
I already amended the description and add the infobox of the victim. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 12:28, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
And of course, I am more of surprised that it has been moved when I checked back after taking a break from homework rather than being displeased. I know the reasons and I accept it NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 12:46, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello

Could you please create articles on Chinese Wikipedia about the murder cases that occurred in Malaysia? I've noticed that many sources you reference are from Chinese news outlets. 27.125.249.83 (talk) 11:25, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

I am very grateful for your creation of murder cases related to Malaysia on the English Wikipedia. I am Malaysian. 27.125.249.83 (talk) 11:27, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
You are welcome. I will see how. My Chinese is not as good as my English even though I can still read, write and speak it, so I might not be able to immediately do the task. But thanks for the acknowledgement NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 03:07, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
