C&P Move

[edit]

Thanks for warning me about my recent cut and paste move. I am an IP address and therefore cannot move normally, so I resorted to CPMing. However, I still think Mccafe should be moved to McCafé. 69.255.170.118 (talk) 01:35, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP, the GFDL is the license we use here and all edits have to be compatible with it. Original authors have to be credited (4B), otherwise it is a copyright violation because it looks like you are the only author of the whole content, what isn't the case. As I already wrote on your talk page, if you can't move a page yourself, list it at requested moves. --Oxymoron83 15:24, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took another couple down: [1] - I've followed your lead of 3 hour blocks for them. Rjd0060 suggests a range block if there are anymore beyond those 3. ScarianCall me Pat! 20:06, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

How may I discontinue my account. The lack of respect for the great William "Willie" Shearer (praise be upon him) in this website, quite frankly, disgusts me and I have every wish to delete myself rather than give someone else the satisfaction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stevieboi-2k7 (talkcontribs) 17:58, 9 Apr 2008

rc patrol

[edit]

It occurred to me you might know the template - there used to be one, I think - for labeling "related IPs", as when an article is vandalized in exactly the same way two minutes after a vandal is blocked. (My last two or three blocks of vandals are an instance of this). I'm signing off for now, but if you know what the template is, can you let me know? Regards, Kaisershatner (talk) 17:58, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's a warning template ({{uw-multipleIPs}}), but I can't remember a post-block template for IPs without an sockmaster account, sorry. Probably you're asking due to VHS/Camera/DVD/...-IPs — these look like dynamic IPs and will probably never be used by that person again, so the only effect of labeling them would be that the next users who get these IPs assigned could feel offended. --Oxymoron83 18:14, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I will read up on dynamic IPs as well. Also, thanks for your vandal fighting and nice working with you. Kaisershatner (talk) 21:19, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take that musical

[edit]

Waste of time, if you look at the edit history, light defender is clearly employed or connected to the musical - his edits are a) to promote the musical and b) to remove any sourced material that demonstrates that take that are not connected to the musical. This has been explained to him by multiple editors on the COI board and his own page - he's just not interested. --87.112.25.245 (talk) 10:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and there is no "potential" about it, he has breached 3rr on 3 articles and has been reported as such at the 3rr board. --87.112.25.245 (talk) 10:57, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

Hi Oxymoron83, thanks for the note. I did report Runtshit to AIV once before, without success because I didn't know the name of the master puppetter at the time. When I do file there in the future, do I just write: suspected sockpuppet of User:Runtshit? thanks. Tiamuttalk 11:35, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found only one report to AIV from you, which was successful? You can keep the comment as short as reasonable for these permanent vandals, it's unnecessary to gather the diffs, because it delays your report and lets the socks waste your time. So your proposal above is a good way of reporting. Regards --Oxymoron83 11:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for deleting the page, I was going to ask how you do that! Akerbeltz (talk) 21:06, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can put {{db-self}} on a page when you are the only author of the whole content and want it deleted. But it's better to prepare a new page in your userspace, e. g. at User:Akerbeltz/Articlename to see if you're happy with the content before moving to the main space. Grüße --Oxymoron83 21:17, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah thanks, that's useful to know. I was happy with the content - it still exists - but I moved it back to the main page on Basque bowls to avoid too many short pages connected with that article. Akerbeltz (talk) 21:32, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a moment, I would like your opinion on this matter. Reading through the Adorno article, I came across this dab page, the existence of which is nonsensical to me. There are currently no articles for either the "Romanian book" nor for the piece of musci---both of which entries connect to their respective articles---so, why do we need a dab page? Minima Moralia should go directly to the Adorno book, since this is the most widely-known usage. Given that there are no other relevant entries, the dab page should be removed altogether, methinks. What do you think? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 20:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also think that this page should redirect to the Adorno book, because this is the only article with this title and there are 50 times more GHits for this book than for the Andrei Pleşu book. --Oxymoron83 20:41, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Did I make a mistake in the page move? I think I made it more complicated for myself than I needed to... Let me know if I did something wrong so that I can not make the same mistake again. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 15:18, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You carried out a cut&paste move there instead of moving the page, what removed the original authors who are required by the GFDL for attribution. If you aren't able to move the page yourself like in this case, you have several possibilities:
  • tag the target article with {{db-move|Minima Moralia (Adorno book)|reason}} or
  • list the articles at WP:RM or
  • you could have asked me as I already knew what you wanted to do ;)

Question

[edit]

I saw that you were taking part in this conversation about the HAGGER vandals and wondering whether you can help me what is it that those square boxes represent after the word. I posted a question on the help desk here and i got the response that your computer or browser doesn't have that character and so its represented by a square. Is that correct. Just want to make sure, i think you'll have the correct answer for me. Thanks 220.239.52.180 (talk) 13:28, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's correct. Some time ago, when I had no Chinese and Japanese fonts installed, all the interwiki links to pages in these languages were represented by squares on my PC. After installing the fonts, they show up correctly. The character which caused the "problem" on your browser is the En space (U+2002, more info). --Oxymoron83 19:58, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Project

[edit]

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 06:52, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal on French people.

[edit]

Hi, there's a registered user who vandalized this article a couple of days ago[2] I recently checked his contributions, and he has vandalized a few other pages as well. Judged by the fact that he repeatedly writes a singal word over and over when he vandalizes, do you think he could be the IP who wrote "WEINER" all over that user's talk page a while back? (see above) Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 21:56, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't find the IP. Which one are you referring to? --Oxymoron83 22:15, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This one: 67.83.130.161. Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 22:33, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The only correlation between those two seems to be the repeated use of signal words. During RC patrol, I sometimes encounter IPs which show similar behavior, but are from different geographic locations. Moreover, as the edits from the two users mentioned are more than a month away from each other, I don't think that those two are the same. But 65.220.101.2 was probably the same person who made the edits from 67.83.130.161 (likely school and home IP). --Oxymoron83 23:03, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wives and wiki's

[edit]

Tune in to the bottom of the IOOF thread on my talk...

  • But don't know why this became or I left as a redink... too much text juggling in too little time is best guess. But please connect the dots after speedy undelete.
  • Alternative, is to take the main article to singular tense, automatically creating the redirect... but affecting a lot of articles. IMHO, the wrong thing here...
(Contrary indicator: Category now matches the main article title... a good thing — which brings back restoring your speedy delete with proper fix.)
  • Bottom line, lucky the wife didn't smack me as she brought me a hot plate of food whilst I was trying to close out the repair on IOOF... so I didn't catch it. As you can also infer from my talk, I'm not really happy with wikisociety these days anyway. Especially speedy D...
    • so why didn't you just fix it? Good editors fix, not rack up edit counts breaking things. Why didn't you check what links here?

Links: :connect this to Fraternal and service organizations. // FrankB 17:08, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. -- This place is out of control... "right thing" and "wrong thing" now missing... sheesh! Too many kids lacking the prospective of experience blindly following arbitrary rules and applying them too strictly... so deleting useful things and confusing it with progress. Activity and action are not equivalent to progress and better! And then people wonder why so many admins and good editors stop contributing. Hah!

The page was a redirect to itself, what doesn't make sense. The deletion doesn't prevent anyone from creating a redirect to a proper target. --Oxymoron83 17:53, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Due to popular demand, HAU has a new look. Since the changes are so dramatic, I may have made some mistakes when translating the data. Please take a look at WP:HAU/EU and make sure your checkmarks are in the right place and feel free to add or remove some. There is a new feature, SoxBot V, a recently approved bot, automatically updates your online/offline status based on the length of time since your last edit. To allow SoxBot V to do this, you'll need to copy [[Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot]] to your userpage. Obviously you are not required to add this to your userpage, however, without this, your status will always be "offline" at HAU. Thanks. Useight (talk) 17:19, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I recently got a warning from you "== October 2007 ==

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Critical path method, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. However this is not my IP nor am I on a public network. And this warning is 7 months old on a subject i have no interset in let alone expertise to contribute with.

What is going on here. Is there some IP conflict or an IP compromise? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.107.184 (talkcontribs) 15:28, 19 May 2008

Hello, you're using dynamic IP addresses, even the IP you used to write this message is different from the IP that edited the article. You may create an account to avoid future confusion. --Oxymoron83 03:58, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted a whole page and you block people for vandalism. Shame on you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiWorm202 (talkcontribs) 12:15, 24 May 2008

Hi, Oxymoron83; I think here we may have a disruptive user. Several days back, I created a redirect which an IP had suggested in AFC. Granted, they did not provide a source, but I didn't think that a redirect needs to be sourced (maybe I'm wrong on that). However, this user came onto my talk page, and warned me about "creating hoaxes" on Wikipedia, and even said I need to learn how to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. They then reverted themselves, and when I restored the message, they tried to remove it again. They appear to have bothered at least one other user, judged by their contributions. I don't know enough about the policies regarding IPs to know what this constitutes, but do you think the admins should keep their eyes peeled for this one or not? The ''Gorgeous Girl''!!! (talk) 23:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Already blocked by someone in the meantime. Looks like a long-term problematic user. --Oxymoron83 07:54, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You speedy-deleted this article some time ago, I was just wondering what the page contained. I seem to remember it being a useful page, but I may be mistaken (I may re-create it with sources soon if you don't mind). Thanks in advance -RunningOnBrains 04:28, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There was only one edit that created the page with 'it was alot of bullshit you know'. Probably Dallas tornado outbreak of April 1957 is the article you remembered. --Oxymoron83 07:54, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking of 193.120.116.180

[edit]

hi, I'm User:Dalta, the above IP, my own, was blocked, the reason given was 'Vandalism'. I have never engaged in any vandalism on a Wikipedia or Wikimedia website. Not only that but I have barely edited any pages in the last few years. I would like to know what the specific reasons for this were, what vandalism did i engage in and when. Also, according to the Wikipedia:Appealing blocks page, there should be information given on the block template informing me how to unblock it, this was not provided. I will also be informing another administrator of these events. - User:Dalta —Preceding comment added by 83.70.239.21 (talkcontribs) 13:08, 31 May 2008

wow, you've just admitted to socking and vandalism as [[3]] and other shows show vandalism by that IP. I'll let Oxy decide what to do here. RlevseTalk 13:12, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I just looked at the talk page of the IP, previously I was looking at the Dalta talk page. I can see now the vandalism, however, this is not me, I can assure you. I don't know the reasons, maybe it's a shared IP or something. Can anyone help me with this problem. If you look at the history of edits by 'Dalta', you'll see no malicious or vandalous edits. - User:Dalta —Preceding comment added by 83.70.239.21 (talkcontribs) 13:17, 31 May 2008
Looks like 193.120.116.128/25 is used by Hutchison 3G for their (mobile?) customers to access the internet using proxy servers, whereas 193.120.116.177 block log, 193.120.116.178 block log, 193.120.116.179 block log and193.120.116.180 block log are the only IPs used to access Wikipedia. As you can see, there is frequent vandalism from these IPs, what results in equally frequent blocks. Since you have an account, you can log in to edit and should not be affected by the IP block.

Hello, please see the message at the bottom of your talk page. You may create an account to avoid future confusion. --Oxymoron83 22:35, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 22:24, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are You Obtuse?

[edit]

How do you plan on warning one specific 5th grader out of over 15,000 students + hundreds of staffers and teachers? I know for a fact that these warnings end up not reaching the vandal in question because, GUESS WHAT!!! I get them instead, as a heavy wikipedia user, I see the new message alerts and thus receive the warnings. The shared IP should be blocked from editing *because* of the continued and most certainly never ending vandalism that comes from it. Unless you know some secret to making sure every last person in the district never edits wikipedia unconstructively, the warnings will continue to go unheeded and ignored forever. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carterhawk (talkcontribs) 19:25, 7 Jun 2008

Believe me, I've some experience with different types of IPs, and those you tagged aren't used by 15,000+ students at the same time. There's a realistic chance that the warning reaches the user who vandalized. And again, the IPs will not be blocked unless they vandalize, there are some students who want to edit constructively. Your edits would only discourage them. Please sign your talk page edits using ~~~~. --Oxymoron83 20:35, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cut&Paste moves--Reply

[edit]

"Hello KC Panchal, you recently copied the contents of Afferent lymphvessel and pasted it into Afferent lymph vessel. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. --Oxymoron83 22:36, 9 June 2008 (UTC)"[reply]

Well, I thought I'd listed the article under the section of "requested moves", but may be ended up being a bit impatient, and manually moved the content (in spite of having some idea that one must not do that). But, I didn't know the disadvantage in doing that. But, having read your reply to one of the IP addresses that it's important that the original authors be credited for their work, and so the old history has to be merged with the new one, I realized my mistake was somewhat serious. And, reading the message above, I also realized it did cause you some trouble.
So, sorry on both the counts.
By the way, this was my first "move", so hoping to be more methodical the next time around.
Thanks for being extremely prompt, and for the warning on my talk page.
Regards.

requesting check for suspected sock puppets

[edit]

as i'm a new anon ip, i will try to ask you the following:

recently on the UFO article, there seems to be the case of sockpuppets:

the admin User:Kwamikagami (aka kwami) seems to be the puppet master of User:ScienceApologist. they always agree with one another, always support one another, always protect one another and always use the same or very similair writing style. so i thought that maybe i can find another neutral admin who checks these two as kwami seems to abuse his admin rights to push the POV of SA and himself. if you feel uncomfortable doing so, please contact one of your admin colleagues and let them do the job. thx in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.84.19.26 (talkcontribs) 16:21, 10 Jun 2008

Oxy, this exact message was left for me, so feel free to weigh in at User talk:Xenocidic#requesting check for suspected sock puppets. xenocidic (talk) 17:34, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Xeno addressed it there, but just in case, SA and I have completely different interests and long edit histories, so I don't see how anyone who looked into it would think we're sockpuppets. It seems to be a case of our anon. IP being incredulous that two editors could have the same contrary opinion. kwami (talk) 18:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the IP vandal I reported to AiV that you declined to block

[edit]

Most of his Vandalism seems to be centered on this one guy. He's warned to stop, stops for awhile, then starts again. Letting him off just because he takes a brake from harrasment doesn't seen like a good idea.— dαlusT@lk / ImproveContribs 06:29, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The last warning given was more than 8 months ago and this IP is not very active (only 6 edits in the past 8 months). The IP made only 1 edit today and stopped afterwards, so it qualifies neither for a short nor a long term block. If they continue to vandalize after a recent final warning, re-report to AIV. --Oxymoron83 06:44, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have to make 10 edits to be able to move a page. But Richard Stone shouldn't redirect to Richard Stone (disambiguation), because it would be a Malplaced disambiguation page. And the Nobel Prize winning person currently at Richard Stone seems to be the primary search term, so imho all should stay as it is currently. --Oxymoron83 19:37, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cannabis Culture & Cost

[edit]

Eleven years ago The Ottawa Citizen published four consecutive Editorials in four days calling for the legalization of Cannabis. Calling the Editor to commend him for such bold action, it was suggested an article be submitted for payment if published on the Op-Ed page. On submission, the Editor said, "Now we're going to have to shit or get of the pot."

It was published as a Letter To The Editor with the heart and guts edited out so that no reader would have a clear perspective or understanding of the issue. If you're interested, you can read the article in the discussion here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Joseph_Cormier and maybe comment on the images in the article. Missing headline

[edit]

I'd advise you to think before you warn, since this is a dynamic IP address assigned by the ISP, and changes users every day. I never even visited (let alone edited) the said article, blocking this IP will only prevent those who can do genuine updates from contributing anything positive, in the event they were assigned this address. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.43.63.231 (talkcontribs) 12:52, 5 Jul 2008

Also dynamic IPs will be warned and are subject to a short-term block if they vandalize. It is highly unlikely that there's another editor who gets the same IP of this type assigned within e. g. an 8 hour block. The warnings were given more than 7 months ago, and they don't prevent you from contributing anything positive. If you want to avoid future confusion, you may create an account. WP:HAU, Status, and you!

[edit]

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 23:07, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Oxymoron; could you please restore Doppelmayr Cable Car so that the history isn't further lost. See discussion on WP:AN#History from User:Wikifox20 to Doppelmayr Cable Car, User_talk:Wikifox20#Speedy deletion of .22Doppelmayr Cable Car.22. There maybe some clean up to do; but I can't investigate further what needs doing until it's visible again. Many Thanks, hopes you'll get it all in the right place, and with the right history ...eventually! —Sladen (talk) 01:51, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I merged the histories at that article again. --Oxymoron83 08:11, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clearing that up! The article has now been split again into the company DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car and the product CABLE Liner, the latter of which I did by copy-and-paste after another contributor deleted it from the company page. If you're striving for true-perfection, there was also one revision of User:Wikifox20 that said something like "Hello, I'm XYZ" from before the page was overloaded for drafting; ideally that could be fished out and restored. Once again, thank you (genuinely—I had been getting frustrated at not being able to do the low-level manipulation myself). —Sladen (talk) 13:27, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I let this revision deleted, because according to the log Ultraexactzz deleted this revision. I desist from restoring this single revision with 4 words in it, since the user removed it himself afterwards, and if he wants to he can easily recreate it on his userpage.
On another note, you did a copyright violation yourself at CABLE Liner. One of the GFDL core contributor's right is the attribution of their contributions, at least the 5 main contributors have to mentioned. I did a null edit to the page trying to correct this. A proper correction without the loss of the content you contributed afterwards unfortunately isn't possible anymore due to the intermediate edit by Wikifox20's IP (registered to mail.doppelmayr.com in case you didn't notice), please make sure you don't forget to attribute the original authors with the first edit when you c&p content to another page in case a move isn't possible. --Oxymoron83 23:09, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, there's also the Special:Contributions/DCConline identity, but I'll let that pass for the moment and it's the reason I haven't flagged anything up for copyvio yet. Is there a clean way to do a fork/tee split like this? Eg. is it possible to add the first history entry as being a hard-linked duplicate of an earlier revision of DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car? —Sladen (talk) 01:29, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's currently not possible at en.Wikipedia to duplicate article histories. If there are only few authors and they fit into the edit summary (as in the case above), you can mention them there. If there are more original authors, you can either
a) copy the relevant source page history to the article's talk page and permalink to it in the edit summary when you create the new page, or
b) create a subpage with that history and link to it in the edit summary, or
c) copy the relevant history together with the content to the new article and state in the edit summary that the original authors can be found there (example, please scroll down) --Oxymoron83 09:39, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The GFDL requires the attribution of the authors, at least the 5 main contributors have to mentioned. If you want to split content (where a move isn't possible) you can
a) copy the relevant source page history to the article's talk page and permalink to it in the edit summary when you create the new page, or

Hello Albinoblackrabbit, we have some notability guidelines which your web page doesn't meet. As you are the owner of that web page, you have a conflict of interest and should avoid editing articles related to you. --Oxymoron83 21:23, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What happened? Why the hell has this been moved to an incorrect page name, and why was there no attempt at discussion beforehand? If you're not familiar with the meaning and spelling of "fuze", please check before moving pages. Andy Dingley (talk) 09:06, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There was a cut&paste page move that had to be repaired. Since the move was requested and there are more GHits for "proximity fuse" than for "proximity fuze" I decided to merge the histories at proximity fuse, and expected the complaints at the same time, no matter at what title I had merged the histories. If you disagree, just move it back using the move button, the important thing is that the histories are merged now. Do you think you're using the right tone to resolve disagreements? --Oxymoron83 12:48, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm just stuck in the middle of a whole slew of bad edits at the moment, where people with no knowledge of the subject matter are diving in and "fixing" stuff. My apologies if you're just the poor guy left holding the mop at the end. Andy Dingley (talk) 12:56, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ryan, we have some notability guidelines for people as an inclusion criterion. Furthermore, you should avoid creating or editing articles about yourself. --Oxymoron83 13:56, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nabel619, for some info on writing your first article, please see here. There are some notability guidlines as inclusion criteria for articles. Also you should avoid creating an article about yourself or an organisation/web site/etc. related to you (conflict of interest). If you want to test, you can use the sandbox or a subpage in your userspace, e.g. User:Nabel619/Test. If you have any questions, please let me know. --Oxymoron83 17:54, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for the help.. i want to make an article on online games.. and add some pictures of online games and stuff like that.. is that kind of article ok to make? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nabel619 (talkcontribs) 18:15, 20 Jul 2008

There are already articles about online and browser games, you can add content to the articles. If you want to write an article about a topic that doesn't match into one of the existing articles, best create a subpage in your userspace first and start the article there. To sign your talk page edits, please use ~~~~. --Oxymoron83 00:14, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Make Me a Supermodel (US)

[edit]

Can you please help the article link of Make Me a Supermodel (US) (previous article) → Make Me a Supermodel (U.S. TV series) (current article) which it uses Naming conventions (television), I moved the current article from the previous article which is now redirect to the current article without the merge history along with talk page. Can you please cut and paste to current article with merge history. --ApprenticeFan (talk) 02:33, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done, this was on my todo list for pages I didn't wanted to merge at peak editing time due to the number of revisions involved. --Oxymoron83 07:05, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2008 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Final

[edit]

Hi Oxymoron83; you deleted this page a couple of days ago, saying it didn't have much meaningful content. It has been suggested again in WP:AFC; does the suggestion there have suitable content? Mess around with the guy in shades all you like - don't mess around with the girl in gloves! (talk) 22:22, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this page has much more content than the deleted revisions, and the author of the AFC request copied it to this article in the meantime. Thanks for notifying me. --Oxymoron83 07:05, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
