OK. It was a load of total bollocks. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a free webhost for you to post fantasies on. If you can produce references complying with WP:RS that show you were posting legitimate, factual material, I will consider them. If you want to do real editing, I suggest you read WP:PRIMER. New Draft

Peridon, a few weeks ago you helped me by pointing out some articles that could help me make a better draft for what I'd like to contribute about. You said "create your draft at User:EMlass/DRAFT, and then ask for advice. I'll put you onto someone who is good at rescuing things."

OK... It's a bit promotional in wording, and not really encyclopaedic - "surmounted many obstacles before making the decision to create a lasting, meaningful legacy" for a start. I'll ping my friend User:MelanieN who will, I hope, take a look at User:Emlass/DRAFT too. Do listen to what she says. In the meantime, read WP:PEACOCK about the way you shouldn't word things. BTW - I might well have said create it there - oops! I've moved it to the correct draft title and it's now in your user space. On the Douglas L. Peterson page.

How can you say something violates my own / my firms copyright. I will be getting the license from the company on Monday. You deleted it prematurely (something it seems you are known for)

I'm finding this to be a blatant attempt to allow our competition a page but the CEO / Chairman of another. I will be filing a report. Your actions are NOT unbiased, and frankly it seems you have a poor history with this site.

I also will be filing a stop on my credit card donations. It seems the bias around here is exactly as more news sites report.

(talk page stalker) @Rustysurfing07: To be precise about it, if you do not have the licence today it is a copyright violation today. When you submit permissions correctly to use the material then the issue goes way. It will be a shame that you are stopping donating over this, but you have an absolute right to donate or not. I;d rather see Wikipedia lose a donation because IT has upset you than because an editor has upset you, but life is unfair. Fiddle Faddle 17:34, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

jonathan king

Hi, i feel that several items on his page have no place on wiki, and i have labeled them as such for senior editors to decide. Can you follow the rules and state why thye should be saved, not simply remove the tag please, thats the correct way. If they decide they stay then they stay. I personally think 3 musicals that no-one has ever heard off have no place on wiki. Thanks, no offence meant.(Dave006 (talk) 18:01, 7 January 2014 (UTC))

I am an administrator, and I am telling you that you are tagging with an inappropriate tag. See note on your talk page. We don't have senior editors, although as one who has worked in the deletion area for over five years, 2.75 years as an administrator, I am senior enough, I suppose. If you go on applying the wrong tag, someone is likely to block you. If you think something is non-notable, take it to WP:AFD. Don't tag it for lack of context when the context is quite clear. Personally, I detest King's music and don't know the ins and outs of his downfall enough to have an opinion on his guilt or innocence, but as an administrator I do know the speedy deletion criteria. Thanks mate, appreciate the help. I will TRY an dread the rules, but they are so spread out? Is there a suggestion forum or similar, as Wiki should follow on-line games way! New user has to complete a short introduction with various task before they can post for example. That way we learn before messing up. There's the Wikipedia Adventure for beginners, I suppose. Don't like the sound of it... As a sort of forum, there's the Teahouse WP:TEAHOUSE where you can ask about things. You could suggest the pre-edit tasks at the Village Pump (Proposals) WP:VPP or (Ideas) WP:VPI. Another source of info is the Primer WP:PRIMER. Some other boards are WP:VPT for technical problems, WP:VPM for stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else, and WP:AN plus WP:ANI for the major dramatics to happen at. AN means Administrators' Noticeboard, and the I is for incidents, but anyone can post there. Wikipedia is a bit like an iceberg - there's a hell of a lot underneath. Otherwise, people learn by making mistakes, I suppose. It's very difficult to seriously damage the encyclopaedia as everything is saved somewhere (more than one somewhere at that). Ordinary editors can remove stuff from articles, but this is easy to revert. Administrators can delete whole articles, or 'hide' (revdel) edits. Admins can see everything deleted or hidden. If it's really serious, there is Oversight - restricted to a select and highly trusted few - and only they can see the stuff they hide. But it's still there underneath. When newcomers make mistakes, they get tipped off, then warned, then if they don't listen, they may get a short block to give them time to read things. Things progress to 'indefinite' which is somewhat equivalent to 'at Her Majesty's Pleasure'. Even those who are indeffed are still part of the community. Banning is usually a community decision reached on a drama board, but can be from the Foundation or the Arbitration Committee. You won't get involved with most of this. It's a bit different for Almonroth - he actually works for the WikiMedia Foundation, the body that hosts Wikipedia. He is Global Communicatons Manager, so I thing he will know what are and aren't security risks. Most of the WikiMedia employees give their real names and a contact email, and they have two accounts - one with (WMF) after it for official communications. Quite a few are admins here, but not all of the, - Matthew isn't. There is no rule that people cannot say who they are in the outside world. Some do, but I don't. I work behind two or three pen-names, and sometimes as myself - but I keep that separate from my work here. When someone is young - under 16 usually - we do try to keep identifying information off their user pages, Anyone who is definitely adult (like Matthew), we only get involved when they are posting a CV (resume to Americans) and have no other edits. That isn't allowed, and gets tagged as advertising. When people only work on their user page and do no other editing, that's time to have a word with an admin. Regular editors that have built up their user page over quite some time (like mine) are OK. Mine is humorous and shows what I am like. (I once told jokes to an audience for half an hour while someone fixed the electrics so that we could go on and play our set...) But I don't say who I am (or who I have been) or anything that could be regarded as advertising. There are some links to articles about performers I like, but I'm not in any of those bands and haven't been in them (and probably won't be in them in the future either...) and haven't even played alongside them or seen them live. OK? Unless someone says "I am called Ervin and I am 9 yrs old and live in Squishy Bogg WA" or similar, leave them to it. Peridon (talk) 19:17, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

OK - I don't do formal mentoring, but I'm almost always willing to answer questions. Most admins and regular experienced editors will answer questions too. Don't always expect quick answers. Koroli Page Deleted

Dear Peridon, I am not sure why this page seemed like unambiguous promotion. Koroli is a hillstation that is coming up near Mumbai, MH, India. And the first construction there is happening of a resort called Green Courts. It is just like many other hillstations who have pages on wiki (Nearest and a popular one is this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonavla)

This hillstation is a much anticipated one in this geography and they have started putting advertisements for it.

I am not associated with the location promoters in any way. I read about it in newspapers and saw their banners somewhere in the city. In my point of view, it would definitely help people to know that something like this is coming up in their state which they would visit in the future.

With wording like "a vision to provide a Green Living Experience to its customers" and "unique amenities", it looks like a PR piece. We don't "help people to know that something like this is coming up in their state which they would visit in the future" - that is promotion. We record things of note, not the up and coming. Lonavia seems to have a distinct history, and to be well established. I am not very happy about the way that article is written, and I am considering what to do about it. But, the existence of one article doesn't mean that another article should exist - WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Please read WP:GNG about general notability, and WP:RS about the reliable independent sources needed to prove it. Also, read WP:SPAM and WP:PEACOCK about how not to do things. Ok Peridon, I will rewrite the article after reading more rules. But I dont agree with some of your points like "help people to know that something like this is coming up in their state which they would visit in the future" is promotion. It is just information to be given out and just like other hillstations, even this one is going to be a notable one. Only because there's not been much establishment there does not mean people should not have knowledge about it. Lonavala looks established because many people have edited that article since many years. But someone would have taken the first step to start it with a short information correct, on which people built more info blocks? And there were independent references I had added too. @Gradtamu: -- Hi, I'm here because I'm reading up on the backstory behind the Koroli article. There are glaring problems with the Lonavala article, too, so I wouldn't look to it as an example of an ideal article. Promotion is promotion and needs to be removed from Wikipedia. I don't mean the article about Lonavla is established - I mean the place has a history. It's an old hill fort site, and other things like that. Remember we are NOT here to tell people what is coming. That is not the job of an encyclopaedia. We don't give out information on everything. Things not yet notable have to wait until they are. For spreading information, you can use PRWire and Facebook. Dear Peridon and Cyphoidbomb, When I wrote upcoming, I didnt mean theres nothing yet. It is already a hillstation which is ready to have tourists and visitors. And it is being developed more by the Government and agencies. It is not as developed as Lonavala and hence I wrote upcoming because there is much development happening. And Peridon, even this hillstation has a lot of interesting places in the location - I need to add more to the page as I research around. If you suggest, I will update the article to remove the word upcoming. I am still learning how stringently each word is checked.Gradtamu (talk) 10:59, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Merge histories

Hello Peridon. :) I need your help, because content of the article aeromobil is lost when Draft:Aeromobil was renamed in Klein Aeromobil. It should have first been merged with already existent article, and then removed. The draft was created because I unintentionally posted a copyvio on that page. :( However, I heard that admins can merge histories, so can you please do that for me? Deletion of Brian Barnett

Hi Peridon, yesterday you deleted the article Brian Barnett per ("A7: Article about an eligible subject, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)". IIRC this was the 3rd—or was it 4th?— time this article was deleted. Some of its "authors" were blocked for this yesterday, specially user Ekhogroup (talk · contribs) who also uploaded the image [1] and who is blocked indefinitely for this. Now the article was, let's say, once more recreated again with exactly the same content as before by some new username Michaellandis (talk · contribs) who is likely (wp:DUCK) another instance of the original author. User NatGertler (talk · contribs) tagged it for deletion again ([2]). Is there a way to create-protect this article? Cheers - DVdm (talk) 08:09, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Eva Haller

Hi there! Eva Haller is my first big article here! The user Ireneshih (talk) marked her with no significance stated for an AfD. She is an Honorary Professor, the Board Chair at numerous non-profits, including Free the Children, the largest charity in Canada, amongst others, so I don't understand how she has no significance?! I saw that you posted on Ireneshih's talk page, as I have. The AfD for my article has been up for a while now, without Ireneshih or anybody else commenting on it or making a decision. Could you help? OK. Honorary positions are not necessarily notable. You have plenty of references, but I'd suggest reading WP:RS (again if you already have...). Too many of your refs are not independent, or are listings, or in the case of her husband's obit, don't seem to be about her. The AfD will be up foe seven days, and if people haven't !voted (the ! is because it's not a head count), it'll be relisted as there is no consensus (one all at the moment). See what you can do about refs, and talk to MelanieN who is good at digging things up and knows what's what at AfD (see above post...). I think there's a fair chance, but the refs do need improving. Actually, 'significance' is the standard for speedy deletion. It's notability at AfD - WP:BIO. And coverage in good sources. Peridon (talk) 10:25, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

What I really don't get is why WP doesn't have a BLP on Timothy Francis Ball.

Wasn't me wot dun it. I just deleted a redirect to a redlink. OK. First link here is a 'make new section' on HJ's talk page (????). Second is a link to a userfied article about Ball. Jinkinson seems to be having another go. I tend to keep out of discussions on academic notability as I think the standards are ridiculous compared to those for rappers and footballers. Here, I think the notable fraud is more important than the notable academic - based on the controversies section. I don't know. I do know I wouldn't have closed that AfD either way. Oh; thanks! I misread that as you having deleted the article after it was stashed away in Jinkinson's page. Sorry to say, I don't understand the word "userfy," even though I see it frequently. "Redlink" is simple, and some time ago I realized "redirect" is WP-ese for "re-name."
Yes, way back when I argued Ball is a notable denier, not a notable academic.
Today I found that this fine doctor is crowing about the deletion; if Ball is so non-notable, why does Connolley take such note of him? It seems to me that he and a few others have a perception that WP is a unique universe that comports with their ideas as opposed to reality. It seems to me they think that since they don't like Ball, if they can keep him out of WP they deny his existence/personhood. Plus, it's a game with some, I think. To me, that attitude militates against the whole purpose of WP. Why can't people who hear Ball speak or otherwise hear of him not be able turn to WP to find out more about him? He's notable. He's not.

No, redirect isn't rename. It's for alternative versions (as when I heard 'La grande tante' and couldn't find 'La grand'tante') or likely misspellings (that aren't insulting UNLESS the insulting bit is actually in the article and referenced). Sometimes they result from a move (=rename). Userfy means move into someone's user space. For some time, it'll be safe from tagging unless it's an attack, spam or a copyvio. Have a talk with Jinkinson. I've been dripping recently, too. Not only me - I've had to do quite a bit of plumbing to stop other drips... Peridon (talk) 19:15, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi Peridon - forgive my unfamiliarity with Wiki. I'm a journalist trying to track down this meme character known as "Zeke Durden." Apparently, there was once a wiki entry for him, but it was deleted, I'm not sure by who. Is it possible to see what the old Zeke Durden wiki page looked like? OK. It got created in April 2013 as Zeke Durden, but wasn't thought ready for article space. It was moved to Articles for Creation so it could be worked on, and I deleted a redirect that was left over. No-one touched the article for over six months, and so it got deleted. I'll restore it to User:Rockfeather/Zeke. If you decide you don't want to do anything more with it, put {{db-u1}} at the top. (Curly brackets) I've taken the AfC stuff off, and the category bit.
