Please remember to have a quick look at your edits before leaving the page you've worked on: you left this page after your two edits with a stray "1" added to Alan Taylor, a mangled source dropped into the middle of the text at the start of the section, and a bare URL for the ref for David Congreve (this last not such a major problem, but please remember to format references properly - see WP:LINKROT). Sorry about that- I was experimenting with a tablet - apparently not a very good idea Plucas58 (talk) 16:26, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Sympathy, then - I do quite a lot of watch-list checking, and some editing, on a rather small smartphone! It's not easy. Sometimes I just make a mental note to come back to it when I'm on a proper machine. PamD 18:00, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

I need help at William Hartley Carnegie

I need help at William Hartley Carnegie. His obituary lists him as Archdeacon of Westminster, but he isn't on your master list. Maybe you can help me sort out which reference is incorrect. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:01, 10 August 2014 (UTC) User:Richard_Arthur_Norton_(1958-_)/William_Hartley_Carnegie

His alleged time as archdeacon was short enough for me to have missed him out as my list was put together from various sources. However an authoritative biography at http://www.westminster-abbey.org/our-history/people/william-and-mary-carnegie does not mention any time as archdeacon. I will continue to look around however. In the meantime you could check with User:DBD as I think he must have copies of Crockfords and suchlike. Plucas58 (talk) 15:18, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Archdeacon of Sarum

Hi Plucas. Could you perhaps clue me in as to the origin of the line "The position was redefined in 1843, having been previously known as the Archdeaconry of Salisbury." here? Thanks DBD 20:44, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

    • I regret I cannot relocate the source. However, looking at the titles of successive archdeacons, there does seem to have been a formal name change around that time. I accept that "the position was redefined" implies more than that but I have no idea what. If you think the list would be better off without this unsubstantiated complication then remove it by all means. Maybe it could be replaced by a statement about the two titles being interchangeable or changing according to fashion.Plucas58 (talk) 12:31, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
