King of Rome
I deleted the ref to the alleged destruction of historical records by the Gauls in 390 for a variety of reasons. First, the kings are legendary because it's very clear and unanimously agreed upon in the literature, that many, if not most, of the events recounted by Livy and other late authors have little if any basis in reality. For example, Romulus was not the son of Mars and surely the average reign of the kings was not 35 years (to pick two very different kinds of statements). Second, there's little archaeological evidence that the Gauls did all that much damage to the city (see Cornell 1995, for example), so it's unlikely that they destroyed some trove of records. Third, even if there were pre-390 records that we securely knew about, that wouldn't change the problems with the accounts. The kings are mostly legendary and we can't blame the Gauls for that, but even if we can, they're still legendary. At the very least, as User:PsychoticSpartan123 writes, we need some citations for this statement. I'd much prefer though that it be left out of the intro section and confined to the later portions of the article, since it doesn't help the reader who just looks at the intro and leaves. (As a side note, like a lot of the Roman history articles, this one relies on old and outdated scholarship to make its points, and so is very misleading about current scholarly opinion.) So I think we should delete this sentence from the intro if for no other reason than to leave it brief.- Eponymous-Archon (talk) 04:14, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 3
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ian Livingstone, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page City of Thieves. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Chief Judge edit.
I pressed the button before finishing typing. Dredd says he's executing him and silver begs him to let him live saying, please don't kill me. He was executed, I am certain someone even says it in a later story. Dredd viewed him as being Chief Judge at the time and as being alive in some way, that's why he executed him. Death also does not view what he does as murder, the Dark Judges call it lawful execution warped as it may be. Saying he was murdered does no reflect this properly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.187.163.240 (talk) 21:52, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
