License tagging for Image:Hitchnanof1.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hitchnanof1.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:06, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in IPod. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. -FisherQueen 19:33, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What can I do to make an article about the device that isn't "an advert". What constitutes and advert...it seems to be pretty subjective to whoever is editing the wiki at a given moment. There's pages for tons of products, but I put one up that offers both criticism and talks of usefulness, and it gets flagged. What gives?

read the above links. Read them again. Extranal links spamming is spamming. :Leuk he 17:02, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm deleting the talk page, but moving my response to you here. EVula // talk // // 05:47, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a guide on how to use the product, and will be linked to the iPod article, as part of the alternatives to iTunes for loading the iPod. What can I do to make it look less like an ad? I will be adding links to the reviews...as well as some of my own Linux dev work on it.

Wikipedia is not a guide for how to use products. Please stop abusing the system. EVula // talk // // 19:40, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
