Thank you for your participation
Salvio, I would like to take this moment and thank you for taking part in my RfA that happened a while ago. Although it didn't turn out as I had planned, I certainly appreciated all the comments and suggestions given by you and other people. I will learn from all of them and will hopefully run again someday when I'm fully ready. Thank you. TheGeneralUser (talk) 13:41, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Witch (The Vampire Diaries)
Hi, Salvio. Can I ask you why you deleted my page? Tyler Gracyne, Yours Truly :) (talk) 18:45, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- I apologise for the tardiness of my reply, but I was away on business. The article you created was deleted after a community discussion (see here), during which the members of the community who chose to express an opinion came to the conclusion that said page did not belong on Wikipedia. Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:17, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
Deletion of article about Sabella (company)
Hi,
I contact you again about the deletion of the article about Sabella (French tidal turbine technology developer), as the post has been archived.
First, thank you for your reply.
I think SABELLA is one of the few tidal turbines companies recognized in France and worldwide: in this field everyone knows this technology, and the company is always present at international events. It is involved in most regional and national industry clusters and lobby associations (Bretagne Pôle Naval, Pôle Mer Bretagne, Syndicat des Énergies Renouvelables…) and is always included in marine energy technologies lists.
As you proposed, you can see below some links to articles talking about Sabella (either about the company, research, the 3 m diameter prototype, the full scale prototype, current projects, future projects in France and abroad, partnership with GDF SUEZ, etc.)
SABELLA has for example been mentioned:
- in national highly recognized business journals such as “La Tribune” (http://www.latribune.fr/regions/bretagne/20120814trib000713869/sabella-veut-aller-partout-ou-il-y-a-du-courant.html, http://www.latribune.fr/green-business/l-actualite/20110322trib000609854/une-hydrolienne-produira-de-l-electricite-sur-l-ile-d-ouessant.html), “Le Point” (http://www.lepoint.fr/futurapolis/climat-energie/gdf-suez-a-l-assaut-des-energies-marines-20-06-2012-1475768_434.php) or “L’Usine Nouvelle” (http://www.usinenouvelle.com/article/les-hydroliennes-jouent-la-simplicite.N161728)

- I have to apologise for the tardiness of my reply, but, as I said a couple of sections above, I have been away on business; unfortunately, in a couple of days I'll have to go abroad on business again, so I can't guarantee I'll be able to review the articles you have posted on my talk page before leaving. If I can't, I'll certainly do it when I'm back. I apologise for the inconvenience, but I can't do any different... Should I appear to have forgotten about this (and should the archiving bot move this post), please do feel free to ping me. Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:23, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Chauhan1192
Hi Salvio, you imposed a 3-month topic ban on Chauhan1192 (talk · contribs) in 2012, at which point they disappeared. We've recently been experiencing a sock/meat situation at Chauhan, Prithviraj Chauhan and other articles, with various anons and newly-registered users trying to push a pretty hopeless it of Gurjar caste puffery. Within hours of the Chauhan article being semi'd by @Bishonen:, Chauhan1192 suddenly decides to start contributing again and is doing pretty much the same thing that they were topic banned for all that time ago. SPI won't link IPs to usernames etc but maybe you could take a look at the general trend here? If you have the time and inclination, of course. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 13:03, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Never mind. I've blocked per WP:DUCK. It's obvious that the semi of the article flushed out the puppeteer. Bishonen | talk 13:14, 14 June 2014 (UTC).
- FYI, the china telecom IP usage in these sort of articles is a bit unique, I remember having to handle that a couple of years ago, so there likely is another master. —SpacemanSpiff 14:14, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- The IPs seemed to be located all over the place. It is very weird and at first I thought it was a meatpuppet situation co-ordinated via Orkut or similar. I'm now convinced that it was socking and wonder if the IPs - India, China, Pakistan etc - are being run through a proxy. - Sitush (talk) 15:34, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Could be either, we had a mass campaign on the Gurjar thing through some forum in 2010 or so (some of us admins involved in cleaning up that mess found special mention on those forums, while the editors involved were targeted in a milder manner :)).—SpacemanSpiff 15:50, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- I don't really know either, though I'm a little more inclined towards believing this was a case of socking; anyway, thanks to Bish for doing the needful and I'll try to keep an eye on the Chauhan articles to see if more socks/meats pop up... Salvio Let's talk about it! 10:40, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Deleted page
Hello I was onto red to have a Wikipedia page created, and dismayed to find it deleted. I am a survivor of human trafficking and an Advocate I am working towards educating the public about human trafficking. I was never interested in any promotion and don't understand why the page was taken down? There are numerous advocates similar to me (Rachel Lloyd) who have pages up for years. Please advise exactly why it was assumed that the page was created solely for any promotion
I would like the page back up and any reference to any books I've written taken out if that helps. My story has been featured in varied media, Fox News three times, NPR, Channel 4, Washington Times, World Magazine, channel 10, Animal Magazine, Examiner, many other media sources all unsolicited, I've spoken and brought education to the public at universities across the United States, including Pennsylvania University and Princeton and many more Thank you Barbara amaya (talk)
- Ms. Amaya, I am extremely sorry for what you had to go through and do sympathise with your goal! Unfortunately, even though that was not your (or anybody else's) intention, the article came across as promotional in tone and, for that, it had to be deleted. This sentence, for instance, is a good example of what I'm referring to: While watching a newscast during 2012 about trafficked teens in her Arlington V.A. neighborhood, Amaya had an epiphany and realized for the first time that she was really a victim of sex trafficking, then she dedicated her life to helping others. Amaya speaks and shares 'her story' and ways people can make a difference.
My suggestion would be to recreate the article using the WP:AFC process; it takes longer, but it insures that experienced Wikipedians take a look at your draft before it goes live to help you tackle possible issues with the content of the article.
Also, since you are the person in question, I suggest you familiarise yourself with out policy on conflict of interest. Salvio Let's talk about it! 09:34, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of article about Sabella (company)
Hi again,
I contact you once again as my previous message was archived again...
Did you have time to look at the articles I sent you about the company SABELLA, whose article in english has been deleted?
I would also like to send you another link about a very recent news about the company : http://www.whogotfunded.com/deals/265413-sabella-sas.
Moreover, in this article (http://www.letelegramme.fr/finistere/quimper/hydroliennes-courants-de-nouveau-porteurs-09-07-2014-10251066.php) you can see that SABELLA currently has a tidal turbine model installed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris, that all foreign delegations coming to meet the minister Laurent Fabius will see during one year.
I hope this shows that SABELLA is notable enough to have an article in English on Wikipedia...
Thank you in advance,
Best regards
- First of all, apologies for the delay. That said, I have just undeleted the article and userfied it. The page is now located here, in your userspace. @tanbircdq, instead you are a sockpuppet of User:YousufMiah Salvio, peccato, sembri un po' infame.
Do you believe I have been able to improve past the concerns you have brought up? Do not be afraid of being too harsh, I am specifically welcoming criticism as I believe it is the best way to improve and I am always looking to learn from my mistakes. I am particularly looking for feedback as to whether you have objections to myself lifting the self-imposed 1RR restriction I had agreed to towards the end of my RfA. Prime Focus Technologies (PFT)
Hi
I’ve been trying to upload Prime Focus Technologies’ profile on Wikipedia and was told that it clashes with our parent company’s profile, Prime Focus Limited. Prime Focus Limited is a publically held company with two subsidiaries: Prime Focus World (PFW) and Prime Focus Technologies (PFT). PFW is the creative services business offering visual effects, stereo 3D Conversion and Animation to Hollywood studios. PFT is the technology business and behind the world’s first hybrid cloud enabled Media ERP technology, CLEARTM targeted at Media and Entertainment companies.
PFT has a separate board, executive leadership, employee base and locations/markets. It reports revenue independently and has a different set of customers across broadcast, studios, brands, sports and digital, globally.
PFT recently acquired DAX, an American company and our focus is to grow in the US market. It is important that we communicate to our customers, investors, employees and industry at large that PFT is a technology/product companywith global footprint which should not be confused with our Hollywood focused creative services business, Prime Focus World.
If I merge both the companies’ profiles into one Wiki, it is not going to help address the confusion that currently exists. It is extremely important that we are seen as two different companies with different set of stakeholders but one common parent.
I have separate websites for each of these companies as well and you’ll see how different each company is from theother:
http://www.primefocusltd.com/ (Parent) http://www.primefocustechnologies.com/ (Technology) http://www.primefocusworld.com/ (Hollywood)
I have many external references for PFT as you’ll see in the content submitted to you already. With time, we’ll only have more:

Here are examples of parent and subsidiary company on wiki for your reference:

L&T (parent company) and L&T Infotech (subsidiary) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larsen_%26_Toubro_Infotech http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larsen_%26_Toubro
Should you need any more information, we’d be happy to provide. Richa101091 (talk) 07:13, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'm afraid you misunderstand why the article was deleted; the reason was not that we already had an article for the parent company, but rather that the page was written in a promotional tone, which is explicitly prohibited by our policies (and may actually lead to the speedy deletion of the article in question – see G11, which is exactly what happened in this instance). I suggest you familiarise yourself with our policy on conflicts of interest and, then, if you still wish to create an article for PFT, you create it as a userspace draft. Salvio Let's talk about it! 20:13, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi, good to see your name again!
I don't think we've interacted, but (from my bleacher seats) I remember you as being _the_ admin to wade through the particularly tough-&-lengthy ANI cases or what have you and deliver the exactly-right closure. So, seeing you turn up to close a couple of random MfD's I was involved in seems a bit weird--a bit like showing up to traffic court at night and having an especially distinguished Supreme Court justice on the bench--but still good to see your name again! --Hobbes Goodyear (talk) 01:32, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, I began my admin career patrolling wp:mfd and wp:uaa and still like to pop up over there from time to time, especially when there is a backlog. Then again, I don't consider myself particularly distinguished, so I don't find my closing a couple of mfds that strange , but thank you for your kind words. They are really appreciated. See you around! Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:21, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello Salvio. Could you please check the links to the legal texts provided below the file summary? We're trying to find out at NFCR whether this is copyrighted or not, but the links are all in Italian. I'd appreciate your help. De728631 (talk) 16:57, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- @De728631: first, a necessary disclaimer: my knowledge of copyright law is exceedingly limited, as I have always found the subject mind-numbingly boring and so I have always tried to steer well clear of it. That said, those links are to decrees of the President of the Region, describing the flag and other symbols of the Region and detailing how and where they can be used (however, these rules only apply to official uses of the symbols, which this is one is not). So, those texts are pretty much inconsequential in this case. So, I'd say, you're left with the standard rules concerning fair use. Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:17, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for looking into this. Anyhow, at NFCR we're now debating whether there's a detailed description that focuses on this particular depiction being the official flag, or if the decree simply gives some guidelines of the design like in a heraldic blazon. - Art. 2, § 1 of Regional Law 17 October 2001, n. 135, describes the flag of the Region as follows: la bandiera della Regione Friuli-Venezia Giulia è formata da un drappo di forma rettangolare con al centro lo stemma della Regione, posto su fondo azzurro. Lo stemma ha dimensioni pari a tre quinti dell’altezza della bandiera che a sua volta deve essere alta due terzi della sua lunghezza meaning that the flag is rectangular, with the regional coat of arms in the centre on an azure background. The coat of arms is three fifths of the flag's height and the flag's height is two thirds of its length. The decree of the President of the Region, then, describes the regional coat of arms as d’azzurro all’aquila d’oro al volo spiegato, afferrante con gli artigli una corona turrita d’argento. Now this is more complicated, because I'm not familiar with either the Italian or the English terms of art, but it's something along the lines of "a golden eagle flying with its wings spread, holding (technically, it's "afferrare", i.e. seize, grasp) in its talons a silver turreted crown on an azure background". - Ah, I see. So there is no direction on how to draw the eagle and the tower. That's very valuable information. Thanks again for digging this out. De728631 (talk) 18:32, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
