Hi Scuac. I posted a response to what you wrote on the talk page of the article on the Charter of the French Language. If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask. Cheers! CWPappas (talk) 08:13, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again, Scuac. I posted the response to your question here, rather on the Charter of the French Language talk page, because it is not of general interest to the those discussing editing the article itself. I hope you don't mind.
- It seems that if you send your child to a private English-language school for a year, he/she (and his/her children if your child attends English-language schools for most of his education) will acquire the right to attend the public English-language schools thereafter. There is a new law, Bill 104, that if passed will remove the right of privately-educated children to continue their studies in the publically-funded English system but this law is being challenged legally. We can only hope that the striking down of this law will be upheld by the higher courts but even if Bill 104 goes through, I believe that your child will still be able to attend a private English-language school. There is more information about Bill 104 in the Charter of the French Language main article.
- I have to caution you...I am by no means a legal expert and I suggest that you contact some private schools before you arrive in Montreal and get their take on things.
- I see from your user page that Spanish is your first language. Montreal has a lot of Spanish-speaking people and a pretty good Latin Quarter. I may not be able to help you too specifically with the Latin Quarter and goods and services available there, but if there is anything I can do to help you find stuff in Montreal, just ask. I'll be glad to help if I can. CWPappas (talk) 07:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
