Hi Matthew,
Your piece on the Talk page for "emo (slang" was very interesting, in terms of another perspective to take into account. However, i'd disagree with you when you say that the people most likely to be gay are so called "preppy".
Emo as a subculture is far more effeminate - skinny jeans, black make-up, the slim silhouette and overt displays of emotion are the main examples. I'm definitely not saying all emos are gay, just that i'd be willing to bet good money on there being more gays in a group of 100 emos than in a group of 100 "preppys".
As for everything else you said, i couldn't agree more. We definitely need to sort out/list the multitude of different forms that emo takes. As you said, we can't just have the "mtv emo" represented, there has to be greater care taken to ensure detail and accuracy.
