Murders
[edit]Pleased to see you have reduced the size of this page. It certainly does seem bonkers to use email for matters which can be discussed on talk pages here.
As to moving Seema Gavit, the rule is quite clear: murder victims who were not notable before they were murdered do not get an article but murderers even if it was their first and only offence can have one. Eg. Sally Anne Bowman and Mark Dixie (a case of interest to me because I was within a km or so of the crime scene on the night it happened) or James Holmes (mass murderer) and 2012 Aurora shooting (in this case I had passed through Denver 16 hours before the incident). So the precedent is that Seema Gavit can stand and a separate article could be written at 1996 Maharashtra baby kidnappings and murders if there was sufficient material. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:32, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Notifying myself, as mandatory
[edit]Hello Shirt58. I notice I have recently edited the article Abu Khattab al-Kurdi. I am obligated to alert myself that that this article is subject to general sanctions. This this applies to all pages related to the Syrian Civil War or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, broadly construed. That said, let me take this opportunity to thank me for being an OK content contributor (~1 000 or so tiny but impeccably referenced stubs) and a reasonably competent WP:ADMIN who (though occasionally quite bonkers) seems sensible enough. [edit]Peter, when you delete promotional userpages with promotional usernames, I've noticed several times that you don't block the user, or even warn them. (Block is best IMO.) Is there any special reason you don't? Here's the latest I saw, where the username is the name of a pornsite and the userpage that you deleted was a description of it. Wikipedia is not compulsory and there's nothing you have to do, but as long as you're deleting their pages, please block them. Don't be nice and sweet. It's not as if they're here to contribute. Did you check the talk page before deleting?
[edit]G4. Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion This applies to sufficiently identical copies, having any title, of a page deleted via its most recent deletion discussion. It excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version
Did you Check the talk page[1] before deleting? The G4 tagging was blatantly improper. The page was not a recreation of anything (it's a decade old), and it was not remotely identical to a deleted page. It is an obviously useful redirect to content that has been at the target page for more than 100 days. And the page view log shows that the redirect was being used on average more than every day. Proposed deletion of Banned (disambiguation)
[edit]Hi Peter, the article Banned (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Graham (talk) 21:49, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

I tried to explain the notability (there are links on the news and independent sources, including the regulation company in the article) and wrote that I'm not working in this company (I'm a freelancer but I don't trade with forex at all though I read financial news and communicate to specialists in different spheres (forex too) regularly. In general, I write articles on different themes whether it is finance, technics or beauty). And I'll be very glad to fix all the problems and to become a good contributor here. :)
I see that you are very strict about the rules but I don't mind to change and adjust any materials for them to become really notable and neutral.
I would be very happy if I could solve the problem! Have a nice day! :)

- Hi Shirt and Janeshep0. I'm not totally convinced the article is notable but I think it passes the fairly low bar we have for speedy deletion. I'm happy for you, Shirt, to nominate for AfD and apologise for time wasted if it is subsequently deleted, but I have to apply the policy as I see it. Jane, my best advice to you is to take your time and read the material Shirt put on your talk page in the welcome notice. Wikipedia isn't an easy place for newcomers, but you are most welcome. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 13:34, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Extended confirmed protection
[edit]Hello, Shirt58. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Invite to the African Destubathon
[edit]Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 55 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African wildlife articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance. If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing any article related to a topic you often work on, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Might be a good way to work on fleshing out articles you've long been meaning to target and get rewarded for it! Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:58, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

About Anas Al-Abdah - notification as required
[edit]Hello Shirt58,
I notice that I have recently started the article Anas Al-Abdah. I remind me of the General sanctions about this article.
Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.
A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.
General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.
Thank you. Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:27, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
[edit]Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. Elitesingles
[edit]Hi Peter AKA Shirt58,
I'm struggling to understand why you decided to delete the EliteSingles article I put together? Removing it under the rubric of unambiguous advertising seems a little ambiguous to me, particularly as it was written impartially and in a neutral tone. Moreover, the reference list included some 30+ sources, many of which included negative criticisms of the company's practices. A more just tact on your behalf would've been to contact me before pulling the plug, perhaps even offering advice on how to improve the page. Please refer to similar articles such as eHarmony, Zoosk, Bumble, Tinder, Badoo - I feel that you may have a few more deletions to add to your list. I hope this matter can be resolved and that my effort wasn't in vain. Looking forward to your response.

A new user right for New Page Patrollers
[edit]Hi Shirt58.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of article of Marrickville Metro
[edit]Hi Shirt58, I agree with your comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marrickville Metro. I agree that this shopping mall is more than just a run of the mill and when I was searching for Franklins Marrickville on Google I found these two articles http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/stories/s238058.htm and http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/stories/s237979.htm which I referenced in the article that it was the site of one of the first Aldi in Australia on the former Franklins store. The centre management building is a "Heritage listed Mill House" which I forgot to mention and I can see in the search on the Office of Environment and Heritage (New South Wales) website; that it was built on what had previously been the "Vicars Woollen Mill" I also clicked on this article on your comment http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/vicars-sir-william-9273 which I found this article useful and reliable. If you agree that this article should be undeleted you can place a request here. BugMenn (talk) 11:44, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

User talk page size
[edit]Hello. It appears your talk page is becoming quite lengthy and is in need of archiving. According to Wikipedia's user talk page guidelines; "Large talk pages become difficult to read, strain the limits of older browsers, and load slowly over slow internet connections. As a rule of thumb, archive closed discussions when a talk page exceeds 75 KB or has multiple resolved or stale discussions." - this talk page is 660.3 KB. See Help:Archiving a talk page for instructions on how to manually archive your talk page, or to arrange for automatic archiving using a bot. If you have any questions, place a {{help me}} notice on your talk page, or go to the help desk. Thank you.--McGeddon (talk) 10:57, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
Srednaus Lenoroc
[edit]Please don't return to a message you forgot to finish writing and add new statements, half an hour after someone has already replied to it. It changes the meaning of that user's reply: in this case it makes them look like they're saying that something has "already been explained", when they weren't.
Also, if a user is the subject of an ANI and SPI, it rarely helps to circumvent that and offer them your own two-option ultimatum based only on a "cursory look" at the situation, without joining either noticeboard discussion. You seem to have missed the fact that "Lrednuas Senoroc" was an impersonation account operated by someone who mimicked existing usernames. (It's particuarly unfortunate in this case, as Srednaus Lenoroc appears to be a bristlingly defensive non-English-speaker without much understanding of how Wikipedia works, and who other editors are struggling to get any straight answers out of. Telling them to fess up to being Lrednaus or change their "problematic" username can't have helped.) --McGeddon (talk) 11:32, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Re-initiating INCOTM
[edit]It's been almost an year since "Indian collaboration of the month" was active. Firstly we need to restart this as soon as possible for development of India-related articles to greater heights. The members page was blanked, where many of them are inactive. This mass message is to all the members of WikiProject India, about this and interested editors interested will sign up. After this message gets delivered, we'll wait for 7 days before we start a discussion under a thread on the collaboration's talk page, among the members. The discussion will include what to clean-up of sub-pages, a new set of guidelines for smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the collaboration etc. Please keep all the discussions under this thread only, so that it will easier for future reference. Why on earth do you think this article is a "blatant hoax", when the reference in the article (created by myself, an admin of over 9 years' standing, for the record) clearly proves that the player existed and played professionally for Gillingham.....? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:48, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi, I saw your comments on Nomad Capitalist and it's deletion. I'd note that it seems to be more of a media company and private research entity, and as such guidelines intended for pubically listed corporations would not apply. PompeyTheGreat (talk) 07:45, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
