- Hi Sleepinthestars, let's go for it now! I missed you! MarioJump83! 02:23, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi, and welcome to the Tropical cyclone WikiProject! We are a group of Wikipedia editors who help to improve articles related to tropical cyclones on Wikipedia.
Looking for somewhere to start? Here are a few suggestions.
- You can check out topics on the main page.
- You can re-assess tropical cyclone-related articles to assure they are up to standards.
- See the to do list for the WikiProject, and opt to try and complete some of those tasks.
- Check out the guidelines to get an idea of the project's standards.
- If you want to work on an article, Category:Stub-Class Tropical cyclone articles is a great place to start.
- You can also check out the newsletter.
- For further information, you could join the WikiProject Tropical cyclones IRC channel or Discord server.
If you have any comments, suggestions, or would like to talk about the project in general, feel free to leave a message on the talk page.
I have added your name. Dam222 🌋 (talk) 06:48, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- As part of this I admit that I archived most of your talk page to help you adapt to the recent situation (I see these warnings could get you triggered if you get stressed again), but unfortunately you are struck out from WPTC due to a need for probation. MarioJump83! 22:22, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!

You socked. You got blocked indefinitely. I cannot tell you how few users even bother to request a WP:SO unblock, but I am so glad that you did. I am sure that now, you will learn from your mistakes and edit productively, which, so far, is what you've been doing! 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 12:22, 12 March 2021 (UTC) |

[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. [edit]Hello, I'm LightandDark2000. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please remember to cite the sources where you found the information in future edits, such as the edits you made to Hurricane Henri and Hurricane Grace. The information you added to those articles was technically correct but was completely uncited; those changes need to have a citation in the article (in the article body, not in the infobox). Please remember this in the future. Thank you. LightandDark2000 🌀 (talk) 22:53, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors
[edit]Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.
We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 03:49, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

ANN
[edit]To the best of my knowledge the name Ann was never "retired" from the List of names in the Australian region and is thus not listed in the TCOP for the region as retired which as a result means that we can not consider it retired. If i had to make an informed guess, the WMO RA V TCC/BoM realised that the name ANNE was retired from the South Pacific names in 1987-88 and thus removed Ann.Jason Rees (talk) 13:43, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Jason Rees:The article on the 2018-19 Australian cyclone season says BOM removed Ann's name and replaced it with Amber, so I've added it to the list. Sleepinthestars (talk) 14:01, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes the name Ann was removed but my point was that it was never retired and thus can not go on the List of retired Australian region cyclone names, after all names are sometmes removed for other reasons than death/damages.Jason Rees (talk) 14:09, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
Hello! This is to inform you that there is an ongoing discussion, which is proposal to 100% scrap (delete) the two possible F5/EF5/T10+ lists on the List of F5 and EF5 tornadoes article. Feel free to participate here! Elijahandskip (talk) 20:05, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Replacement names
[edit]Hey, I saw you trying to add the replacement names into the Atlantic hurricane retired list, however, the references we use for the retired names from the NHC/WMO, do not indicate what name replaced what name. As a result, I had to revert your edits as you did not provide any sources for the replacement names.Jason Rees (talk) 15:08, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
List of retired Australian region cyclone names
[edit]Hi, Thanks for catching Dominic and Kerry being retired, however, Kerry 1978 like Yasa 2010 or Fran 1992 was never on Brisbanes list of names. At some point though, I want to merge the two lists together since there is a lot of overlap between them. For instance Kerry, Yasa 2010, Rewa 1993 and Fran 1992 were retired due to impacts in Australia, Gabrielle and others were retired due to theur impacts in SPAC, while Nigel and Eric's damage totals cannot realiastically be seperated out. I would welcome some feeedback in the proposal though.Jason Rees (talk) 12:14, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- Also the name Daphne 1982 was excluded, added to the list, another name Mawar (2012) JCWC Jakarta was removed but I did not find information about such a cyclone in the Australian region, there is only Typhoon Mawar (2012) Sleepinthestars (talk) 16:35, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah Mawar was removed for being a duplicate name, rather than being retired even though it's listed.Jason Rees (talk) 17:26, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Just so you know
[edit]As I stated in my edit summary, this collage is used for tropical cyclones which were major hurricane-equivalent cyclones. ''Flux55'' (talk) 16:49, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- major hurricane is category 3–5 Sleepinthestars (talk) 16:50, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- Exactly. Anggrek was at one point, a Category 3-equivalent cyclone, so that's why I tweaked the collage in case another system intensified into a Category 3-equivelant cyclone. ''Flux55'' (talk) 17:27, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
AFC submissions for Ampil and Jongdari
[edit]Hey there, there is a currently drafts named Ampil and Jongdari, which I created last month. Please do not create the specific list of the typhoon names regardless by the year, unless the AfC was currently submitted. Icarus58 (talk) 04:02, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
Retired names
[edit]While I know that Jasper, Kirrily and Megan have all been retired because at the recent WMO RA V TCC meeting, just linking to the BoM naming list isnt sufficient proof that they have been retired. As a result, we need wait until the updated Tropical Cyclone Operational Plan is released before we declare them retired.Jason Rees (talk) 08:58, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for finishing the List of Atlantic tropical storms! I followed and encouraged another editor to start that page, knowing it was a huge undertaking, and publishing the sandbox when it was incomplete. And then you came along and POOF the article now goes to the present. Thank you for your edits, and keep up the great work! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:13, 15 September 2024 (UTC) |

Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Draft:Hurricane John (2024). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Draft:Hurricane John. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Tavantius (talk) 21:26, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
