Your contributed article, Sonic The Hedgehog (2013 remake)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Sonic The Hedgehog (2013 remake). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit video game). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit video game) – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. shoy (reactions) 18:17, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Sonic article editing
[edit]Hi Joe. I just thought I'd throw this out there for you - you seem to have an interest in writing about unofficial Sonic fan games/hacks, so I thought I'd point out to you that a List of unofficial Sonic media article exists. Another admin created it recently, so its probably unlikely to be deleted, but at the same time, he barely created a stub, so there's plenty you could hypothetically do with it. I just thought I'd point it out, since we keep on ending up having to trim back your contributions on the subject on the official articles. I figured this could be more of an outlet for this interest of yours. But it's just a thought - don't feel obligated. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 14:53, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't think that existed. Thanks, I just thought that there wasn't much mention to it. (TheJoebro64 (talk) 16:32, 4 January 2017 (UTC))
- I'm not surprised - the article has only been around for a few weeks and not many things link to it. I only stumbled across it because I have the main Sonic template (the one that goes on the bottom of every Sonic article) on my watchlist - so I see any time people add articles to the template, which usually ends up showing me every time someone creates a new Sonic related article in effect. Otherwise I never would have known it existed either. Sergecross73 msg me 19:10, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Soniccd-cover.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Soniccd-cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:09, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
I didn't want to clutter the discussion page, so wanted to ask you here. If you want me to go away, just say so and I will.
I'm confused that you said "it isn't an actual holiday", after you'd already said it was notable. It is for sure a real-thing; if you look on google News there's lots of articles about it.
It's certainly just as real as Star Wars Day.
If it's merged, it'll be 1 sentence - we'll lose any chance to document how it started, the history behind it, and so on. The picture (which is non-free) will be deleted. It'll be removed from categories like Category:Unofficial observances, and it'll be de-linked from March 10.
Also, at the moment, Google is showing the page, right at the top; if removed, it'll show the "nationaldaycalendar.com" page instead, as it was before.
Basically, it's exactly the same as deletion. 86.20.193.222 (talk) 22:55, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
- If it's merged, I'll make sure that it's not limited to just one sentence. It is notable, but, like Star Wars Day, it's not a holiday, it's a social media thing. I just don't think that the page merits its own article (yet, at least). TheJoebro64 talk 11:05 PM, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
- Well fair enough, thanks for your time. It certainly has been big on social media - quite good fun with all the dressing-up and things, [1] [2] - but it also got picked up by "real news".
- I just think it's the sort of thing someone will want to look up on Wikipedia. Can't see why this needs merging, and not the thousands of stubs created every day, like today's Zimiris, Tricongius, Tivodrassus...and so on.
- I mean - I definitely think those deserve an article, even at 1 sentence and 1 ref. But Mario Day has dozens of RS, and it's a few paragraphs; why does this one need merging? 86.20.193.222 (talk) 23:20, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
- I can understand why you (among others) want it to be its own page. However, think of it as a case like Donald Trump email controversy, an AfD I was involved in: while it is notable, it's not ready for its own article yet. In fact, when it was merged, the entire page perfectly fit into Legal affairs of Donald Trump. If this is merged, the whole page could be retooled as part of "legacy".TheJoebro64 talk 11:10 AM, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
- I'd like it to include info about "Mario Day" in Chicago in the 1980s, which is absolutely nothing to do with the Nintendo character. That won't be possible if it's merged. 86.20.193.222 (talk) 22:59, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
- I wouldn't add that if it's not related to the Mario character. It's likely to be swiftly removed. TheJoebro64 talk 02:07 PM, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Super Mario 64, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Unity. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your GA nomination of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006 video game)

Sonic Forces logo
[edit]Before you consider trying to bring back the opaque background version of the logo, as you have attempted to do and suggested you would do in the future in the edit history, be sure to know that the transparent image currently used was updated with the official logo, sourced from the NeoGAF post everybody is taking the high-res version of the logo from. If you had checked the image's history and source, you would've seen that it was no longer sourced from the deviantART fan-made logo. There's a preference for transparent background logos on Wikipedia, which is the reason why one is being used. Apart from that, User:ThePersonFrom2 was uploading these copyrighted images to Wikimedia Commons, which is obviously inappropriate, hence their deletion. Just thought I'd let you know that as well. FNAF
[edit]Let's discuss our reasons. I would say keep it, as it links the two games. The mini games in FNAF 3 show the place has shut down (leaking water, rats etc.) whilst also providing the origins of Springtrap (the main antagonist). Meanwhile, the first games did have some plot in the form of the newspaper clippings, telling you why some animatronics were haunted (Ie. Golden Freddy).
Despite not being in the first game itself, it probably should be on both pages, because it is the linking factor.
Now tell me your further reasoning.
Empoleonmaster23 (talk) 00:12, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
- My main problem with it being on that page isn't really that it links the two games; it's really that it was the first game in the series. It barely had a plot, just a guy working at a restaurant who is called by a man on a phone to tell him what to do. I can understand why you want it to be there: the later games heavily expanded upon the first game and introduced a complicated plot and chronology. It just doesn't make sense to have readers looking at plot info from later games in the article for the first game. TheJoebro64 talk, 10:32 AM, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
I see your point, and I respect it. However, as I have stated multiple times, it is the linking (plot) factor between the two games, and thus is appropriate on both pages. Plus, your assumptions about the plot-less game is incorrect. The plot was told via newspaper clippings.
Anyway, I have an idea that I'll add into the page.
Thanks, Empoleonmaster23 (talk) 10:46, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

April 2017
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Hedgehog Engine. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block.
