14-character pollution of Kill Bill.
I happen to think the 14 characters I added to the Kill Bill article are important, as saying she's sobbing in that scene without saying she laughs is even a bit misleading, at best. I also happen to think that the OSE policy justifies my addition, not argues against it. "[T]he encyclopedia should be consistent in the content that it provides or excludes. The problem arises when legitimate comparisons are disregarded without thought because "other stuff existing is not a reason to keep/create/etc."" OSE policy notwithstanding, I'm puzzled as to why those two words, 14 characters out of the whole article are the ones most troubling to you. But whatever. I'm done with it. ColinClark (talk) 04:14, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your polite reply. (By the way, it was 14 characters, not 14 words :-) ) Good luck with the editing. ColinClark (talk) 04:29, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
The Shawshank Redemption
Hey, RepublicanJacobite, I'm a little new to Wikipedia. I've looked at other articles on movies or whatever, and for some movies it says on the top paragraph so and so is, for example, Once Upon A Time In the West is a epic Italian spaghetti western, or The Godfather is an American film, or whatever, so aren't you able to do that? Its not a big deal or anything, I just like doing it to the most important American movies. Thanks. Jordancelticsfan (talk May 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for helping me out with that, I appreciate it. I won't be adding that stuff to movie articles anymore. Jordancelticsfan (talk) May 5, 2010 (UTC)
Non-free content review
There is a discussion at Wikipedia:Non-free_content_review#File:FreeRepublicTeaBag.jpg concerning a file page which you have recently edited, so you may like to take part. JamesBWatson (talk) 00:10, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
You just deleted the Obviously Jesus page, but missed the talk page. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 16:28, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the nudge, page is removed now. I guess i was to busy attempting to geolocate Orchid Enclave to notice the "There is a talk page warning" that pops up after a removal :). Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 16:30, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Do you know much about Ireland and Irish history? O Fenian (talk) 00:47, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- Funny! Irish revolutionary and not at all a Catholic! Damned impossible! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 00:50, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- But "Irish Republican most definitely equals Irish Catholic" surely? O Fenian (talk) 00:54, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- This must be some kind of alternate universe or something! He must've been a Catholic in secret. Surely there were no Irish Catholics, ever, who were not Republicans, right?! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 00:56, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps he was also a secret lemonade drinker? O Fenian (talk) 00:58, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Balance
I was asked to tell you about 1RR, but I believe you already know so I will not bother with a big template. Since one of your reverts was an IP there is no violation at present anyway. O Fenian (talk) 01:05, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Cast in Table Format?
Hi...could I ask why you restored a cast list to Table format? My understanding was we generally shouldn't do that per the MOS. Thanks. Doniago (talk) 05:11, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Re: Talk:György Ligeti
It's probably because one of the templates used in that page has __NOTOC__ in it, and it's being improperly applied to the talk page. Figuring out the offending template is incredibly tedious, and I have to be out soon, so I can't help right now. Sorry about that. Ask at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). Graham87 03:17, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- I originally wrote this on my talk page, since I thought that that's where I responded in our last conversation. However, that wasn't the case. Sorry for any inconvenience. Graham87 03:29, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- It has something to do with the presence of a comments page, because it also occurs on Talk:Franz Schubert. Graham87 03:33, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- No, it beats me. I'll test something; if that doesn't work, we'll probably have to ask at the technical village pump. Graham87 03:38, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- I've asked about this problem at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 124#Talk pages of some articles not showing the TOC when comments are present. Even using Special:ExpandTemplates doesn't help me figure out how to solve the problem. Graham87 10:16, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Our ongoing sock on the George Harrison page
Hi again RepublicanJacobite. I think that I can count at least four named accounts (and an unknown number of IP's) that are all now part of the Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dmerkurev/Archive nest of sockpuppets that have joined the fray in the last week or so. Do you think that it is worth trying to fully protect the page for awhile? Unfortunately, it is time for me to log off and hit the hay so I can't really do anythin about it tonight. I know that they probably wouldn't protect it so I will just say thanks for your help in protecting his page and cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 04:20, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi yet again. Looks like Rodhullandemu protected the page which should gives us a few days peace. Fisher Queen also added sock tags to all of the named editors. This editor is persistent so we probably haven't seen the last of him/her so enjoy your days of editing other things til their return. MarnetteD | Talk 20:16, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
this must stop, now
RJ, this edit summary was a personal attack. You've made others. I most strongly suggest that you stay away from Malke's talk page and be very careful about not making any posts which could be taken as personal attacks towards Malke. Comment only on sources and how to echo them in the text. Do not comment on other editors. If you make more personal attacks, I or another admin will mostly likely block you from editing. Gwen Gale (talk) 20:38, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
notice
I don't know what your beef with User talk:Malke 2010 began as, but I have seen five diffs now that contain pretty stern personal attacks. Why? SGGH ping! 22:16, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Dieselpunk
Hey. I thought you might be interested in knowing that User:Larry442010 is working on a Dieselpunk page. You can see his progress here. Ottens (talk) 16:27, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- I know it's problematic, that's why I hope you might be able to help. I'm afraid I don't have the time for it. Ottens (talk) 17:23, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Speedy moving a category
To speedily rename a category you would add {{subst:Cfr-speedy|new name}} to the category page and then add the entry to the list at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Speedy along with the reason. Then it would be renamed in 48 hours (which is not very speedy but there you go). Hope that helps. ... discospinster talk 03:29, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Steampunk for Children mess
I've started a discussion about how to fix the paragraph and if it's even worth it. I think you'd be an important contributor to that. Duggy 1138 (talk) 13:01, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground
Hi. Thanks for trying to make Wikipedia a better place, but please actually read edits more carefully before you accuse someone of being a vandal on their talk page. The article phrased a single (unnotable) opinion on the song as a universal truth in the article, so I removed it. A better edit summary was not given because the material was blatantly out of place. Thanks. Dfsghjkgfhdg (talk) 13:14, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
RJ, this edit could have carried a more helpful edit summary but it wasn't vandalism. Although sourced, the text was more or less meaningless and may have been the editor's original research. Gwen Gale (talk) 13:25, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- You are both incorrect. It has been known for years that this song was placed aboard the Voyager spacecraft, one of only 27 pieces of music so honoured, as the article states, and this is not an insignificant fact. All of it is explained right there in the NYT article, which is, I might add, a notable and verifiable source. The material is true, notable, verified by a good source, and not out of place. Furthermore, an edit summary of "wtf?" is not helpful in the least, and when used to explain the deletion of referenced material, it looks like vandalism. I would suggest that you actually read the article, Dfsghjkgfhdg before deleting it. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 13:42, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I see what happened. I wholly agree that wtf was hardly a helpful edit summary. I also agree with your having undone the edit. I don't agree that the edit was vandalism, rather, it was a good faith mistake. Please be a bit less quick to call content edits vandalism, is all I'm saying. Gwen Gale (talk) 13:46, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for the heads-up that you left over on my talk page. BTW, interesting to note that you are a SF writer. I'm an avid SF reader myself (I can finish a novel in a day and go through more than a hundred a year). I'm burning with curiosity about whether I've read any of your books. ;-) LK (talk) 05:27, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- Another thanks for turning me on to Blind Willie Johnson (from the talk above). I've just listened to some of his songs on youtube – it's the most heart wrenching stuff I've heard in some time. LK (talk) 05:30, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Ryan Kirkpatrick
His disruptive editing has continued despite both our requests. Would you be willing to certify a request for comment on his editing if I make one? Thank you. O Fenian (talk) 15:44, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- If you could sign the "Users certifying the basis for this dispute" section at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Ryan kirkpatrick that would be very helpful. Thank you. O Fenian (talk) 21:42, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Link on The Bible's Buried Secrets
Hi.. I'm not sure that the link added by User:ProvidencePictures to The Bible's Buried Secrets is vandalism/link spamming. According to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/bible/credits.html "Providence Pictures" is the producer of the documentary. Evil saltine (talk) 18:07, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Ryan KIrkpatrick on Terrorism
Ok maybe some of the things i put on Terrorist incident of 2010 was not clased as Terrorism but on 3 June a car bomb exploded in Australia and damaged the building don't that attack meen it is a Terrorist incident. Ok the shooting in Belgium and in the United Kingdom was not Terrorism i get it now but i put the one in the United Kingdom because on duke street were the shooting started there was a police station and thourt he was attack the police station. Ryan kirkpatrick 14:46, 3 June 2010 (GMT)
- A response from Ryan Kirkpatrick, I had to come see for myself. It might be best to respond Ryan, on the RFC page created after the editing of the Terrorist Incidents page. WikiuserNI (talk) 22:32, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Nicknames
I can see why nicknames would possibly be in quotes, but why are none of the other marines names in quotes? I doubt "Animal Mother" is his birth name, for ex. Additionally, none of the marines nicknames are quotated either in the book or in the credits to the film. Just seems like a pretty heavy inconsistency in this article. Is there a Manual Of Style for character names somewhere? Thanks for your time. Rails (talk) 23:20, 3 June 2010 (UTC) (EDIT) Sorry, this is in relation to the Full Metal Jacket article. Rails (talk) 23:24, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for your note RepublicanJacobite. I couldn't figure out why it was being added twice on several of the pages either. This Demerkurev sock master is a persistent son of a gun. You might be interested to see my thoughts about today's version here [1]. I should also say that it is always good to see your name on my watchlist because that is an edit that I know that I won't need to check since you protect articles along many of the same lines that I do. Cheers and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 23:41, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
JFK assassination conspiracy theories article
I noticed that you've deleted a bunch of references at this article because they were video hosted on YouTube. Please note that WP:YOUTUBE says, "There is no blanket ban on linking to YouTube or other user-submitted video sites, as long as the links abide by the guidelines on this page (see Restrictions on linking and Links normally to be avoided)." What is your reason for deleting these references? Ghostofnemo (talk) 06:24, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Would you mind providing a reason for your revert of my edit to the Hart page. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 21:18, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
boiler explosion
Hi, I am still interested in editing the boiler explosion page, and would like any feedback that you might wish to offer before attempt making any more edits. I had written a response to you after your first revert of my edits to that page, but didn't post it properly. I have since written another response to OldMoonraker's comments, and I would like for you to read it as well if you care to. I intend to create a draft version on my userpage first, as time permits and I figure out how to do it properly. If you can tell me the appropriate way to communicate with you or others regarding this, I would be grateful. Exactly what is the correct method for notifying you or others that I have made updates, etc? I am not sure if editing your talk page is really appropriate or not, but I can't find any other thing to click so I thought I'd give this a go. If this is an intrusion, please accept my apologies and instruct me as to proper comm. etiquette. Thanks! Tomtroszak (talk) 01:09, 10 June 2010 (UTC)tomtroszak
A note from MarnetteD
Hello again RepublicanJacobite. While I don't know the specifics of what is going on - and it is none of my business - I just want to say that I hope that you find a way to stay. I know how frustrating things can be as one tries to build and protect this online encyclopedia. When I reached a point that you are at year or so ago ago I took several months off and that helped. I know that I have said this before but I do appreciate your work here. On the other hand I can sure understand the "I don't need this frustration" feeling that you are going through. Either way I say more power to you and if you don't return I wish you the all the best in your life in the future. MarnetteD | Talk 00:17, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Note
A note of acknowledgement regarding your diligence protection the Salinger page. Persistent, accurate and lightening-quick! By the way, I'm trying to add categories to the new (well, old really) stories I added on the unpublished section and having the damnest time. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
