Russavia Block
There's a pending case for Russavia (talk · contribs) over at AE and I see you blocked him for 3 days. However the block log doesn't indicate why and I don't see that you notified him he was blocked or why. Can you elaborate? It might have some bearing on the AE report. --WGFinley (talk) 15:15, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Application for AWB
My request for registration at Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage # Requests for registration is pending for the last four days. ⇒TomTom suggested that I have less that 500 namespace edits, but my edits as explained in the section are more than that. Can you please help me with this registration? --Wikishagnik (talk) 23:11, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
AWB
You gave me AWB access and I'm working on a project which is "Operation: Grow Small Categories to Large Categories". Do you like it? M'encarta (talk) 23:27, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

A big NPT update
Hey! Big update on what the developers have been working on, and what is coming up:
coding
- Fixes for the "moved pages do not show up in Special:NewPages" and "pages created from redirects do not show up in Special:NewPages" bugs have been completed and signed off on. Unfortunately we won't be able to integrate them into the existing version, but they will be worked into the Page Triage interface.
- Coding has been completed on three elements; the API for displaying metadata about the article in the "list view", the ability to keep the "patrol" button visible if you edit an article before patrolling it, and the automatic removal of deleted pages from the queue. All three are awaiting testing but otherwise complete.
All other elements are either undergoing research, or about to have development started. I appreciate this sounds like we've not got through much work, and truthfully we're a bit disappointed with it as well; we thought we'd be going at a faster pace :(. Unfortunately there seems to be some 24-72 hour bug sweeping the San Francisco office at the moment, and at one time or another we've had several devs out of it. It's kind of messed with workflow.
Stuff to look at
We've got a pair of new mockups to comment on that deal with the filtering mechanism; this is a slightly updated mockup of the list view, and this is what the filtering tab is going to look like. All thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome on the NPT talkpage :). I'd also like to thank the people who came to our last two office hours sessions; the logs will be shortly available here.
I've also just heard that the first functional prototype for enwiki will be deployed mid-April! Really, really stoked to see this happening :). We're finding out if we can stick something up a bit sooner on prototype.wiki or something.
I appreciate there may be questions or suggestions where I've said "I'll find out and get back to you" and then, uh. not ;p. I sincerely apologise for that: things have been a bit hectic at this end over the last few weeks. But if you've got anything I've missed, drop me a line and I'll deal with it! Further questions or issues to the usual address. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 17:14, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Your unhelpful bot

deleting templates per G6
while I agree the system is a mess, could you restore or orphan these (since they are not currently orphaned, which is part of the criteria for G6): Template:Fb team SD Huesca and Template:Fb round2 2011–12 FL Cup QF. thank you. 64.134.156.208 (talk) 15:17, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- thank you. I will try to orphan these where possible (e.g., you can now delete Template:Fb competition 2011-12 Segona Catalana). there were about a dozen that showed up on the most recent database report of transclusions of deleted templates. 64.134.156.208 (talk) 15:35, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- sorry to bother you again, but I found one more Template:Fb team Al Hadd Club. thanks again. 64.134.156.208 (talk) 15:36, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- there are basically two database reports to check, (1) Wikipedia:Database reports/Transclusions of deleted templates which comes out weekly. unfortunately, the numbers include all namespaces, but sometimes User:Plastikspork/Transclusions of deleted templates is updated, which has more information. (2) Wikipedia:Database reports/Unused templates will list all the orphaned templates, if you go to page 3, you will find the remaining Fb templates that could probably be deleted. thank you again. 64.134.156.208 (talk) 15:44, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Rev Del
Can you rev del this please? It is a blatant copyright violation. Puffin Let's talk! 15:23, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Request
You were so kind in changing all the eponymous categories to hidden. However, due to template transclusions, we now have 2 administrative templates on every page. (please see: Category:Wikipedia categories named after media for example.)
I added the hidden parameter to the transclusion through Template:Eponymous category (On the categories, it's apparently called "named after".)
That said, what I'd like to do is remove the transclusion of Template:Wikipedia category from inside Template:Eponymous category. (Better to have them separately transcluded I think, to allow for passed parameters in the future.) So to do that, all the Wikipedia categories named after... categories would need to have Template:Wikipedia category adjusted to make sure they have both parameters: hidden=yes and container=yes.
And as an extra added bonus, it would be nice if "named after" was changed to the current name of "Eponymous category".
Is this something your bot can do? and if so, would you? : ) - jc37 03:16, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi jc37! I'm happy to tell you that I've completed all the things that you requested:
{{named after}}
has been replaced with{{Eponymous category}}
and I've deleted Template:Named after, which was a redirect to Template:Eponymous category.- I've added a container=yes to all the
{{Wikipedia category}}
usages, such that both hidden=yes and container=yes are parameters. - I've removed any instances of
{{hidden category}}
and{{container category}}
on the pages as this has been merged into the Wikipedia category template as per above. - I've removed the transclusion of Template:Wikipedia category from inside Template:Eponymous category as they have been separated now on each page.
- Finally, I've re-ordered the templates on each Category so
{{Wikipedia category}}
with its parameters comes first, then{{Eponymous category}}
, as you can see for example in this diff.
If you notice anything is missing or incorrect, please don't hesistate to tell me. The Helpful One 13:54, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Awesome! : )
Thank you very much for your help : ) - jc37 21:37, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Azure
I have another request for you if you are so willing : )
I recently closed an RM (see: talk:Azure (heraldry))
I was wondering if you could fix the links which point to azure (for example to point to Azure (color) or Azure (heraldry), as appropriate).
I don't think it's a big deal, since they point to a dab page, but others have noted a concern, I suppose it would be nice : )
If this isn't possible with your automated tools, I understand. - jc37 21:46, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi! Sorry, I don't think it's possible to do this with automated tools, as it is difficult to differentiate between the two types of links - is there a particular word that would likely be on one article that would not be on another? Would there be cases where both Azure (heraldry) and Azure (color) were linked on one page? The Helpful One 22:47, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well, for the heraldry ones, I think you could look for "tincture" or "coat of arms" or even "heraldry". (watching out for hatnotes, of course.)
- But both kinds of articles would probably use the word "color/colour". So not sure about that. But as the move was to the heraldry page, that would probably be enough, if that's possible. - jc37 22:54, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- These are the pages that don't have the word heraldry in them, but as you can see - some of them are referring to the company, the journal etc- so it would need a manual review.
- The Helpful One 23:00, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Nod, I had a feeling that this was a mish mosh : )
- I think we should confine ourselves to fixing articlespace links. Anyone clicking from a talk page is probably best served hitting the dab page anyway.
- I'll see what I can do to tackle some of the above. (thanks so much for he list : )
- Does this mean that you'll be able to fix the heraldry ones? - jc37 23:08, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, I think I took care of the above. I tried to skip the ones concerning organisation, team, school, or family colors, since I honestly am not sure if that should be the tincture or the color. Someone else can decide that : ) - jc37 00:07, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for not replying sooner, yep I've gone through most of the heraldry ones so that should make it easier for anyone working on fixing the rest of them. :) The Helpful One 20:13, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

ConfirmAccount extension
Hey :). You're being contacted because you are involved in the ACC process, or participated in the original discussion in '08 about the ConfirmAccount extension. This is a note to let you know that we are seeking opinions on switching this extension on, effectively making the ACC process via the Toolserver redundant. Unhelpbot
Hello Helpfulone. Helpfulbot seems to turn into slightly-unhelpful-bot when interacting with blanking/vandalisms. In both [2] and [3] Helpfulbot has tried (which is appreciated). Would it be possible to either tweak the code to find mass-blanking, or instead to perhaps add a 1 hour backoff before the bot kicks in? —Sladen (talk) 14:15, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, I've justed noticed another editor asking a query (below) about the bot. Is the bot being left running unattended for long periods, with no monitoring of (this) the associated talk page? —Sladen (talk) 12:24, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Sladen!
- My sincere apologies, I thought that I had already replied to your message. Yes, the bot runs from a server, so it runs without supervision. With regards to the blanking issue that you reported, the bot does not revert vandalism, it was simply adding interwiki links to the respective pages using a trusted well-tested source code, the Pywikipedia framework.
- I hope this answers your question, feel free to ask me any more. :)

Thehelpfulbot: interwiki to Sound from ultrasound
Hello Thehelpfulone,
There are two article clusters, one is dealing with audible sound carried by ultrasound:
Another one is about hypersound with frequencies above 1 GHz:
Interwiki inside clusters are correct, but interwiki between the two above mentioned clusters are wrong. Please teach your bot not to make cross-cluster interwiki.

Restoring Motorola Defy Plus
hi Thehelpfulone,
I created an article Motorola Defy Plus some days ago. It was placed for speedy deletion under "section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion" on the ground that it did not contain any content whatsoever and it has already been deleted. I would say that the article contained a useful infobox about the mobile phone. All the information mentioned were accurate with appropriate references as well. Its not necessary for one person to write a whole big article. i wrote the infobox, someone else can expand the article. Please review the article and restore it if you think that it contains some useful content.

Abuse Filter on the Article Feedback Tool
Hey there :). You're being contacted because you're an edit filter manager, At the moment, we're developing Version 5 of the Article Feedback Tool, which you may or may not have heard about. If you haven't; for the first time, this will involve a free-text box where readers can submit comments :). Obviously, there's going to be junk, and we want to minimise that junk. To do so, we're working the Abuse Filter into the tool.
For this to work, we need people to write and maintain filters. I'd be very grateful if you could take a look at the discussion here and the attached docs, and comment and contribute! Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:34, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
As closing administrator, what was your basis for deciding on the rename in this discussion? I would like to point out that WP:TITLECHANGES was a new point raised that had not been taken into account in previous similar discussions. Cjc13 (talk) 16:30, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- I would also like to point out that no other editor supported Cjc13's bizarre reading of WP:TITLECHANGES.
- Cjc's grotesque inversions of various points of fact have been a persistent and tedious feature of a long series of similar discussions. His latest bit of nonsense was at indeed something other than a rehash of the many points of nonsense he raised before, but mere novelty does not give it any validity. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:16, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- PS Note that Cjc13 has been disrupting a long series of similar discussions by systematically misrepresenting WP:NDESC, as discussed here.
- He tried a complaint to another closer, Jc37 (talk · contribs), which you can read here. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:26, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- By all means read the discussion on Jc37's talk page and you will see how BHG tries to intimidate any opposition to her proposals. WP:TITLECHANGES was a point raised late in the discussion and no one else apart from BHG has tried to argue against it. However I am only asking for clarification as regards your decision. Cjc13 (talk) 22:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- Post a lot of tendentious nonsense, repeatedly, and when it is challenged, allege initimidation. Nice try.
- If you mean it about the intimidation, you know where WP:ANI is. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:35, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- I wish I had the time to waste that you clearly have. Cjc13 (talk) 09:55, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Would you mind closing this discussion? It seems unanimous.--Mike Selinker (talk) 15:03, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Suggestion
I like these kinds of bots, but you've gotta give people some time to correct errors on their own. Waiting 15-30 minutes to add a {{reflist}} to an article will avoid edit conflicts, as just happened to me because of thehelpfulbot. Many editors are likely to simply abandon their edits rather than deal with edit conflicts, so I think that it's important to to everything reasonable to avoid them. Regards,

Thehelpfulbot edits following vandalism
Hi. Looking at the bot's contributions (and some comments above), it appears that not rarely the bot will pick up articles whose references tag and/or interwiki links had been lost as a result of vandalism, and re-add them to the article. I'm not sure, but think it seems quite likely that this may cause anti-vandal bots or recent change patrollers to miss the vandalism and leave the article still partly vandalised. Perhaps a ten-minute or half-hour delay before Thehelpfulbot makes such edits will be beneficial? --Paul_012 (talk) 14:29, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there! I've adjusted it to run every 30 minutes instead of every 15 minutes - hopefully this solves the problem. The Helpful One 16:54, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
