Re Mark Reed (sculptor)
Dear the roadislong,
Thank you very much for your editing of the Mark Reed (sculptor) article and removal of unsourced and primary content.
I have removed the information relating to Reed's education, as I didn't have a 3rd party source for this.
With reference to the citation needed for the sentence in Biography "In 2004 he worked on his first public commission- Bronze and Cast Iron Tree Planters for The Prince's Trust and the City of London, unveiled by the Lord Mayor of the City." This was something that was discussed in the Anglia News feature on Reed by Clare Mc Galuchlan and hence the citation should be after this sentence and not preceding it. However, if you feel that it would be better to remove tis sentence then I will be guided by your expert opinion and editorial knowledge as i don't want to article to be at all subjective.
When I started updating the Mark Reed (sculptor) article at the start of the year, I was stupidly unaware that my additions to the page were contravening COI rules on Wikipedia. As the wife of the sculptor for 5 years now, I genuinely didn't want to advertise on the site and can completely see that my viewpoint could be skewed by my relationship with his, particularly in relations to his more recent work, where he made a Wave Sculpture in Norwich Cathedral ( 2021) in conjunction with the Natural History Museum visit of Dippy on Tour about climate change that raised over £2,000 for Cathedral charities and was visited by 230,000 visitors. (as you have very kindly seen that I have plenty of 3rd party citations to evidence and thus deemed appropriate- thank you so much for your kind editorial advice on this!)
Also a tree sculpture for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust Kings Lynn Garden of Life at the Macmillan Centre , last year which he completed for a not even cost price of materials as this piece was of personal importance to him, his first child was born at the hospital and he lost his father to cancer there. Each leaf can be engraved thus is raising funds for the League of Friends .
These were the two pieces that I wanted to add and am enormously grateful for yourself and other editors giving so freely of your time to help others such as myself. I am enormously grateful that and allowed the Wave piece to stand.
I wanted to scrap large parts of the previous article but as I hadn't edited for a considerable amount of time it was so difficult to learn from scratch again, especially as in this period ,so much seems to have changed from my previous editorials several years ago.
I would be honoured and massively grateful if you would accept my apology for being rather naïve. I honestly did not mean to use Wikipedia as an advertising vehicle and didn't know ( stupidly) that I was doing anything wrong. He has a wealth of news and magazine sources on these pieces in particular and I would be enormously grateful if you would consider to continue viewing my further editorial requests.
I would really love your advice as I don't want to contravene any Wikipedia guidelines. . I would relish your help and thank you once again for all your help and advice, Many thanks Hannah

Jason Gamrath article
Please explain why entire articles about the subject on local newspapers' websites and botanical gardens does not qualify as reliable secondary sources. 1010Art (talk) 11:36, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Your draft Draft:Jason Gamrath doesn’t show how they pass WP:NARTIST. Facebook and his own resume are NOT reliable independent sources and other sources are primary so contribute nothing to notability. Theroadislong (talk) 11:54, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
My draft: Francesco Tigani
In your comment I read that there are no independent sources. In reality, independent sources such as Italian magazines and newspapers are cited that talk about the subject. Laconoscenzarendeliberi (talk) 06:23, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

Mark Reed article
Hi there! So I just finished some cleanup over at Mark Reed (sculptor) and was wondering if whenever you have a quick second, to take a look and see if it sounds any better than before. Since you placed the advert template, I'm deferring to your judgment on whether it comes off or not. The COI template I think should remain because they were up until just the other day still editing the article. But I think it reads a bit better now, if maybe you could take a look, I'd appreciate it. Thanks so much Spintendo 07:13, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your hard work, much improved, though if this was at WP:AFC I would question whether they passed WP:NARTIST. Theroadislong (talk) 07:26, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Draft: Dr Sola Fola-Alade
Hello Theroadislong,
Thank you so much for your support and review of the article I created. I followed the advice in your comment by removing the active links and links to spotify and youtube. Additionally, I added secondary sources to the article. I seem to have been rejected by an editor aligned with a paid scam editing service. How do I rectify this, please?
Many thanks, Shirleysk (talk) 11:49, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- When I declined your draft I didn't realise that it had already been rejected before, because you had removed the notice with this edit [1] it has now been rejected again and rejection means it will not be considered further. Theroadislong (talk) 11:55, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

Review of Draft:Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy
Hi Theroadislong,
Thank you for your feedback on my draft for the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks school article. After trying to revise it, I realize that it likely doesn't meet WP:GNG for separate pages because I had a very hard time finding secondary sources that were not affiliated with Cornell. However, I still think it is "notable" to a certain extent because the school is outputting large amounts of research and its existence has a non-trivial impact on college admissions.
Is it appropriate for me to edit a closely-related page like the Cornell College of Human Ecology, whence the Jeb school comes, to reflect the existence of the school and then put up a redirect? Since notability seems to only apply for having separate pages, not sections?
Thanks! - Adeqyateky Adeqyateky (talk) 18:39, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- Notability is established by significant coverage in sources not affiliated with them. It might be possible to mention it in another article if there are suitable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 18:58, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Request on 21:14:21, 4 July 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Littleboybrew
So I created an article describing a recently opened non profit museum. This museum documents the history of the US Marshals. It describes the history of its establishment and what topics the museum covers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:United_States_Marshals_Museum
I am not sure why this page has been declined. Please explain in detail why it is not acceptable.
Littleboybrew (talk) 21:14, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- You say that you “created an article describing a recently opened non profit museum” that’s not how Wikipedia works, articles are based on what reliable independent sources say about a topic. Theroadislong (talk) 21:21, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- The governor of the State of Arkansas was there to conduct opening ceremonies. https://www.4029tv.com/article/opening-ceremony-held-for-u-s-marshals-museum-in-fort-smith/44392665
- Now she is a right wing hack to be sure but just what kind of reliable sources do you want me to reference to establish that this museum is noteworthy? This is a legitimate museum documenting an important part segment in the history of the USA. Littleboybrew (talk) 21:40, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Littleboybrew: Please read WP:42 for info on what is required to show notability and WP:BACKWARD for a good guide to how to successfully write an article. - UtherSRG (talk) 01:21, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oh you mean like the newspaper article I cited and the web news site that I cited that are not affiliated with the museum? Is that what you mean? Or maybe the information I referenced at the US Marshals' website (not affiliated with the museum)? Maybe if someone had spent a few minutes actually READING what I wrote (seriously, the article was rejected so quickly nobody could have given it serious consideration) then you would not make such a lame suggestion. Hey Theroadislong!
Thanks for the Message, However, i want to make it clear that i was at the basic time of developing the content of my page when you left your comment, kindly take another look at? the page and review. Thank you for going over my page
I saw that you just went over the page designed for ThePricer and you declined it. It would help greatly if you could give me some pointers so that I avoid the embarrassment of having it rejected again:) I went over the guidelines and saw that press releases can't be used as sources. So I know I have to get that part out of the page. Could you point me in the right direction to have the necessary changes made? Thank you again for a prompt review, I have read somewhere that it usually takes several months for pages to get reviewed:) Lisashelby (talk) 08:11, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
Regarding Draft:Junior Eurovision 2023
Hey there,
just a quick note regarding Draft:Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 - You claim that JuniorEurovision.tv is not a reliable source. This is literally the official website of the Contest by the EBU. You can't get more official then that. The reason for this page to be kept in Draft stage are preposterous in my opinion.
Yours sincerly - Florian100100 Florian100100 (talk) 16:06, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

Question regarding Dungeons of Dreadrock
Hi Theroadislong. I'm Christoph and I hope it's okay if I ask a question related to Dungeons of Dreadrock. If I'm not mistaken, you added a COI header to it, which, according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Maintenance_template_removal could be removed because (point 4) the template requests initiating a talk page discussion and you didn't do that. So I guess that means that if you feel that my article drapht was biased (I am the dev of the game after all) you should probably elaborate on that. I hope you take my message as friendly, I am not a native speaker and sometimes find it difficult to express things without being too rational. ChristophMinnameier (talk) 10:02, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
- As the developer of the game you should not be editing the article directly. You can request edits with the template {{edit request}}, see WP:Edit request for more details. Theroadislong (talk) 10:20, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

- Image has no copyright violation as there is email proof given to wiki for usage. I don't understand why Stiven Mikhail wikipedia was taken down. He is a professional in Hungary and has many articles and a transfermarkt. Transfermarkt is strictly for professional football players , coaches and managers. I say this because I seen an editor write that transfermarkt is not a reliable source. Which is not true , it is strictly for professionals. Dr. Shivanand Hulayalka (talk) 08:51, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- The reasons are in the grey decline box namely "references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject" and the content is written in an inappropriate promotional tone. You also need to change your user name ASAP because you are impersonating the subject. Theroadislong (talk) 09:03, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

Geovana Cléa Draft
Hello, Theroadislong
Recently, you rejected my Draft, Geovana Cléa is a very famous and well-known Brazilian and Italian painter, and is a descendant of Rosane Brandão Malta, the first lady of Brazil. I listed under sources. Joaobulanzita (talk) 13:11, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- Actually I didn't reject your draft, that would mean you had no option to submit again, I declined the draft because you have not made it clear how they pass WP:NARTIST? And being "famous" and "a descendant of Rosane Brandão Malta" confer zero notability. Theroadislong (talk) 16:33, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

David "Feet" Rogers Draft
What is the proper way to cite a source that is a film documentary? Wikipedia does not appear to have that function. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 16:48, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Thepublicschoolmusician. Try Template:Cite AV media. Cullen328 (talk) 16:50, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you Cullen328 I had just looked this up as I wasn't sure myself! Theroadislong (talk) 16:52, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- thank you! Will work on it right now! Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 16:54, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- As far as my other sources, I included the fact that David "Feet" Rogers is a 2019 inductee to the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame.
- I also included 2 separately published books that were independently written by separate people which cover the topic of the History of Hawaiian music and its musicians. Both of which corroborate information mentioned in the article.
- I have his obituary as a source.
- I have included a source from the local newspaper the Honolulu Star Bulletin.
- I have a source from the University of Hawaii.
- I really am doing my best to fulfill Wikipedia guidelines.
- The only thing I need help on is how to cite a documentary film, and how to cite a recording from National Geographic.
- Feet Rogers is notable because he was the featured Hawaiian steel guitarist for a National Geographic recording, as well as an inductee to the Hawaiian music hall of fame. Those things are true. I just need to cite them. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 16:54, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- The only audio source that I can find of the National Geographic recording (originally recorded on Vinyl in 1974) is available on YouTube.
- I cannot find any other audio source or recording directly from National Geographic.
- The only thing that I can cite is the following: A Sounds of the World recording from National Geographic Society 1974
- I really need this citation and source because it bolsters the fact that David "Feet" Rogers is INDEED notable as per Wikipedia guidelines. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 17:06, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Theroadislong now that I have cleaned up the sources, added several independently written and published works, I believe the sourcing and citations meets Wikipedia's standard on Reliability.
- As far as Notability, I cited that David "Feet" Rogers is a 2019 (posthumous) inductee to the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame which has an independent Board of Directors, and nominees are chosen amongst the recommendations put forth by the people of Hawaii.
- Moreover, David "Feet" Rogers was the featured and only Hawaiian Steel Guitarist on the National Geographic Society's "Music of Hawaii" recordings. That is also very Notable.
- Please let me know if there is anything else I need to address in order for the Draft to be approved. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 18:16, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- I am yet to be convinced that they pass WP:NMUSICIAN so will leave it for another reviewer, to be fair. Theroadislong (talk) 18:59, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Theroadislong David "Feet" Rogers meets WP:NMUSICIAN's criterias 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10.
- 1 is provable with my sources and citations
- 4 Sons of Hawaii have toured the world
- 5 Sons of Hawaii have multiple records across decades with Hula records, which started in 1935 and is still in business today
- 6 Every musician in the Sons of Hawaii were notable, ESPECIALLY Gabby Pahinui, and Eddie Kamae.
- 7 David "Feet" Roger's Hawaiian lap steel is the pre-eminent sound of traditional Hawaiian folk music, as he is recognized by many musicians in Hawaii and is a member of the Hawaii Music Hall of Fame.
- 10 He recorded on a 1974 National Geographic Society recording as the only steel player on the "music of Hawaii". He also played on the internationally popular (in its day) Hawaii Calls Radio program.
- At this point, I've done everything you asked despite your negative comments about my article going "from bad to worse" simply based upon the nature of the citations, not the truth with what I was writing about.
- Thank you for passing me on to another reviewer for fairness because I honestly believe you're giving me a hard time just because I have a new account and this is my first Wikipedia article.
- David "Feet" Rogers accomplished something profoundly beautiful and notable in his life. He deserves to be remembered and cataloged on the internet so future Hawaiian musicians and Lap Steel enthusiasts can more easily learn more about him. He's been dead for 40 years. I made this Wikipedia article for posterity, and not for self promotion, or the promotion of a long dead musician. There's no money in it. Just the principle. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 22:29, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- I am yet to be convinced that they pass WP:NMUSICIAN so will leave it for another reviewer, to be fair. Theroadislong (talk) 18:59, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

website used as reference
Hi Theroadislong,
Thank you, and yes, I agree that websites cannot add notability, however, in my case, I am trying to reference press and essays that have never been digitized, but copies of the original publications are scanned in the artist’s papers and listed with ISBN numbers on his website with individual Internet address . I fall back on this from Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources#Reliability_in_specific_contexts
“Context relates to specific facts, not just the source
The very same source may be reliable for one fact and not for another. Evaluation of reliability of a source considers the fact for which the source is cited, the context of the fact and cite in the article, incentives of the source to be reliable, the general tone of credibility of the source for the specific fact, etc. For example, a web site that purports to list an artist's works is likely reliable for the fact that the artist authored a specific work, if the web site list meets other criteria for reliability (e.g., not under control of the artist or otherwise questionable), and especially if the list has some further indicia of reliability of existence and publication of the work (ISBN number, publisher stock number, photographs of covers, etc.). Similarly, the publisher's web site is likely to be reliable for the fact that the work exists, for the fact that the work was authored by the purported author, and for publication data (publishers are incentivized to be truthful about the works they publish; publishers do not invite copyright suits or inquiries for works that do not exist). But neither the list web page nor the publisher's web site are per se reliable for any critical, artistic, or commercial evaluation of the work, or any rank ordering of merit, without further indicia of reliability.”
I have seen websites listed on Wikipedia about living artists, on older Wikipedia, under external links, but if that is red flag I will leave it off. Jjcoste2 (talk) 16:16, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- References do not have to be online we don't need scanned copies. Theroadislong (talk) 16:22, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Theroadislong,
- Thank you, that is interesting. Are you saying that my press references would be acceptable as is without a link? If that is the case and I removed the press links to the articles, would you be able to let me know where my draft might stand currently on this road known as Dan Snyder (artist)? Jjcoste2 (talk) 20:29, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

- Hi - Thank you for checking in. I actually realized immediately what you had done and what was wrong when I saw your edit in preview mode. I have been attempting to replicate, but when I do I get an error message. For some reason I lost my ability to use the visual editor after my first big edit, but I have been able to get this far on "source" till now. I am re -reading up on the reference code help pages and unless I have a bug, I hope to have it resolved as soon as I get time to work on it. But in hindsight, yes, that was unwise of me to remove your example before I actually made the footnotes work.

- Ok -Apparently one needs to leave a space between citation numbers!
- Now, I just have to figure out how to use a citation number more than once.

- Hi Theroadislong,
- Romans built roads that last for centuries, but that doesn't mean they aren't bumpy.
- I can now get a citation in, but beside the repeating a citation issue, it appears that when I put them in it removes the link. I am assuming that cant be good, or is that just what happens on "preview"?

- Hopefully, the citations look better.
- I attempted to reuse citation #1 for the public art list, but it renumbered as #11. Would that just be redundant anyway?

Thanks so much for your review and comment. If those citations with Namu Wiki are removed, from your view, the draft cannot be approved as is?The referenced content actually comes from the show itself, so can you refer to the episode of the show? This was the reason for using Namu Wiki as I was not sure... Echohk (talk) 14:50, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

Patriot Software (draft)
Hello, thank you for going over my page. Can you provide more information about why it was declined and which areas I need to remove / tweak before resubmitting--for example, is it mainly the review quotes in the "Reception" area that's "reading more like an advertisement?" Also, do I need to remove the references and the draft copy that don't meet the 4 criteria and only keep the references that do? Any insight you can provide is greatly appreciated! Thank you. Rachelwriting (talk) 13:06, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

- If needed, I would place a citation for the 2007 award. However, the citation would be the same as the current number (4). The procedure, as I understand it, is to give the new a citation a reference name, so that one can use it again. However, I’m not clear on whether I have to literally delete the present number (4) first.

Your Rejection of My Donald A. Walker Article
Can you give me very precise instructions on what I need to do to get the article published?
When I originally submitted it I didn't understand Wikipedia, and it was rejected because I didn't have any third party references. I was told that examples of things I could provide are links to published papers that he had authored that were in journals, books, etc. I have added about 7 journal articles and books, including a chapter he authored for a book on Paul Samuelson, in which he published his personal, life-long correspondence with Samuelson, who was a mentor to him.
I also chose papers that were highly-cited by others.
My understanding from what I had been previously told was that if I added some of these papers and books to show he was well-known in his field, that that was all I needed to do.
It appears to me that my article for Walker is better-cited than this article on Math professor Nomizu, whose son I am personal friends with: Katsumi Nomizu. ElvisTheMan (talk) 12:06, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
- Your draft was declined not rejected, See other poor quality articles exist. Katsumi Nomizu has the tag ”This article includes a list of general references, but it lacks sufficient corresponding inline citations." Your draft would benefit from some independent sources. Your Rejection of My "Leibniz Institute for Catalysis" Article
Hallo Theroadislong,
This is just the english verion of the German aticle about the publicy funded research istitute of the Leibniz Association (LIKAT Rostock, Leibniz-Institut für Katalyse). there is no advertisment, but as a pubicy funded intitute we must inform the society about our reseach content and our research results.
Therefore it is neccesary to have this Wiki page. Lots of people lookfirst at wiki and then visit the official home page.
I´d be happy if you could best regards Likat nutzer (talk) 10:03, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- "we must inform the society about our research content and our research results" that is the very definition of advertising here. The German Wikipedia has very different guidelines to the English one. Theroadislong (talk) 10:06, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

From Under The Bridge awards list
Hello Theroadislong,
Thank you for your feedback:
"20 awards" is not sourced and Dreamotion Studios is a primary source and not clear that any of those awards are notable?
The awards for the film are referenced on FilmFreeway, IMDb, in news articles and via each individual organization. I understand via your previous statement, the IMDb list is not acceptable. So should I list every organization website referencing every award? I can do this, but it will take a lot of time and many references.
Thank you - Ronald RonaldCooper (talk) 19:20, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it is worth the effort as the awards don't seem to be notable so don't help with notability. Theroadislong (talk) 19:39, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello Theroadislong,
- News article and online references have been added to validate the award wins. 'Best Short Film' wins and cinematic screenings in cities such as Los Angeles, London, Paris and so on are relevant, especially with the suicide, bullying and cyberbullying awareness. With journalists present for such awards, is this not notable?
- Thank you - Ronald RonaldCooper (talk) 20:31, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

My draft page on Maria Thomas
Thanks for moving and adding the AFC submission tag. I still have some work to do on this draft, indicated by brackets, so it's not ready for review. I'm sharing the draft with a few people (incl her son and some who know Wikipedia better than I do) for reactions and comments. Once that is done I may just pop it into Wikipedia rather than submit for review - while less experienced than many, I have created articles before and that way has worked better. Thx. Sullidav (talk) 16:15, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- If you are sharing it with her son first that would indicate a conflict of interest, so it would be preferable to submit for review. Theroadislong (talk) 16:17, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

- It reads exactly as what the company would like to say about itself, (not surprisingly as you work for them). Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about something, Wikipedia summarises what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. The activities section is also sourced to a blog which is not a suitable source. Theroadislong (talk) 15:45, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

Adding a photo correctly
Hi Theroradislong,
Dan Snyder (artist)
I have taken a photograph of the artist’s work, but as I understand it, I cannot post it to Wikipedia Commons unless I have some kind of permission from the artist. If I do, what kind of format would the permission have to be in?
Also, once there is a page for an artist, can that person edit their own wiki page, add a photo that they have taken of their own work, or a professional photo of their work that they have received permission to use on wikipedia?
Jjcoste2 (talk) 22:09, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Jjcoste2 (talk page watcher) Please visit c:COM:VRT which tells you how to lodge permissions at Wikimedia Commons.
- Transparency is important, so the artist, while actively discouraged from editing an article on themselves or their work may edit it. Uploading pictures of their own work will be no issue because they will always be able to lodge permissions with COM:VRT themselves.

Hi Gobardhan was a member of the Calcutta Group - his name is already within the group mention in Wikipedia. The Calcutta Group was an important group related to modernism in India. Gobardhan Ash is already famous as a master artist (a modernist) - but lacks his own wikipedia page. Ichatt4957 (talk) 06:17, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Bartınspor
Hello Theroadislong. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Bartınspor, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Please see tr.:Bartınspor and de:Bartınspor, inter alia - it would appear that this is a Turkish soccer club with a long history. Mehregan Prize in Wikipedia
Hello, dear editor of Wikipedia I have added some reliable & secondary standards of the wiki and allow the page to be acceptable with the guidance of the administrators. It should be mentioned that the information about the Mehrgan Prize is very scattered and incomplete in various newspapers and websites. My aim is to supplement the scattered and sometimes incorrect and incomplete information by using various references and using the Mehrgan award statements that I have. Mehrgan Prize is a non-profit foundation for the contribution of literature and science (environment) and is not a commercial company. Therefore, there is no information about it in Wikipedia. Please support and help to create Mehrgan Prize page. It has been mentioned in all newspapers and sources that Mehrgan Award is the oldest independent and private award in Iran. And this is not an advertisement. Although no product or income is generated from this page and it is not commercial. Thank You Argmedia (talk) 18:04, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

- I don't review to order, the quality of your sources there is VERY poor, and it is not entirely clear even what the article is about. Why are there 14 sources for the last sentence? See WP:REFBOMBING. Theroadislong (talk) 06:30, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
