A tag has been placed on Eric Windeler, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of https://www.jack.org/team. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

    If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

  • It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —Guanaco 15:48, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, TiffaniL. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:02, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Drm310: If I am simply a student who is involved in the Jack.org network as a student club member who believes that the person who founded the organization has done many outstanding things to better Canada and deserves a page, is this allowed? I am not paid and I just want others to be able to understand the way this he has changed the stigma against mental health in Canada. TiffaniL (talk) 13:39, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@TiffaniL: Being involved with an organization does not prohibit you from writing about it. However, being involved with and having an emotional investment in a cause can affect your ability to write about it from an objective, dispassionate point of view. That's why we discourage people from writing about causes they're involved with - the cause may be worthy, but simply not notable enough for Wikipedia.
An organization is considered notable if it has acquired significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the organization. An organization's own website or published materials is not sufficient, and any unpublished personal knowledge and experience will not be accepted.
Your best alternative is to use the Articles for Creation process, where you can create a draft article outside of the main article space. Not only is it at less risk for deletion, it also lets you submit your draft for review by other uninvolved editors. After being reviewed, it will either be accepted or sent back to you for further revisions. Best of luck. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 18:24, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
