Welcome!
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first pages you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that page.
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.
Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Best practices for editors with close associations
- Plain and simple conflict of interest guide
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- Tutorial
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- How to create your first article (using the Article Wizard if you wish)
- Simplified Manual of Style
- Task Center – need some ideas of what kind of things need doing? Go here.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.
If you've had a new article rejected or deleted, new article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can also ask for help at the TEAHOUSE and on IRC chatAgain, welcome! -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 09:26, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "University of Piraeus", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Paid editing
[edit]Hello University of Piraeus. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:University of Piraeus. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=University of Piraeus|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --Hammersoft (talk) 03:03, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
Editing on behalf of the university
[edit]Hi. Whatever your username you can't edit on behalf of the university. You've got a conflict of interest. Secretlondon (talk) 08:08, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

[edit]You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.- To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
- If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page:
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
.

Requested username:
Request reason:
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to appeal the recent block on my Wikipedia account, username "University of Piraeus," and to request a change of my username to "UserUnipi.gr."
Firstly, I want to express my sincere apologies for any unintended violations of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines that may have led to my account being blocked. I am currently unaware of the reasons for the block, as I did not receive any prior notification or warning. I have always endeavored to contribute positively to the Wikipedia community and abide by its rules.
My primary motive for requesting a username change is to update my identity on Wikipedia to better align with my online presence and activities. "UserUnipi.gr" reflects my affiliation with the University of Piraeus and provides a more recognizable and appropriate username for my contributions.
I understand the importance of maintaining a transparent and accountable editing environment on Wikipedia, and I assure you that I will continue to adhere to the platform's policies and guidelines diligently.
In light of the above, I kindly request that you consider unblocking my account and granting my request for a username change to "UserUnipi.gr." I genuinely value the Wikipedia community and believe that my contributions can continue to be valuable to the platform.
Thank you for taking the time to review my appeal and request. I eagerly await your response and the opportunity to resume my contributions to this invaluable resource for knowledge sharing.Decline reason:
- Unipi.gr is the name of a website, and accordingly, is not an acceptable Wikipedia username. Cullen328 (talk) 01:18, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- UserUnipigr University of Piraeus (talk) 01:30, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Renamer note: That username is still about the University and not you, unless your name is user. - FlightTime (open channel) 01:40, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Also not too different from your two rename requests. - FlightTime (open channel) 01:47, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- But I don’t want to use my real name, so I just want to use UserUnipigr as a username that is not about University. And I want to be unblocked. Thanks. University of Piraeus (talk) 02:12, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- That's up to our Administrators, I was just pointing out my concerns. - FlightTime (open channel) 02:32, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Keep in mind, no matter what username you end up with, you can not make the same type of edits you were making, they'll still be COI editing. You'll need to use {{Edit COI}} to make requests and have other editors make them for you. - FlightTime (open channel) 02:39, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- UTRS appeal #76496 is closed. I told them the same thing. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 06:45, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

- You don't need to use your real name. You can have an individual name that does not promote your employer. Do you think FlightTime or Deepfriedokra are our real names. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 06:48, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Many minions of organizations cannot see themselves as having a separate identity from their employer. Dig deep. You are more than that. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 06:52, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- As noted, you don't need to use your real name, but your name needs to be individualistic. 331dot (talk) 09:01, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
