Hello Waleskasantiagomarques. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Ave's America, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Waleskasantiagomarques. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Waleskasantiagomarques|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:13, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a COI

[edit]

Hey there. I noticed your edits to Ave Pildas and they caught my eye. Your talk page has a previous unanswered conflict of interest query from Helpful Raccoon. Do you have a conflict of interest with either of these articles?

Again, please do not edit further before answering. If you continue to edit without clarifying, it may result in suspension of editing privileges.

Thanks, OXYLYPSE (talk) 22:51, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. You've continued editing without answering so I've gone ahead and restored the article to a version before all of your changes. Please clarify if you have a close connection with the subject / if you're being compensated in any way to edit this article. Thanks, OXYLYPSE (talk) 23:20, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Oxylypse. Thank you for your message. I am a big fan of Ave Pildas photography work and I have been studying his life/career for the past 6 years as a street photographer. I have met Ave previously on photography events, and I as collected video and audio interviews for my research. I have been lately helping to format his wikipedia page that was outdated and redundant. I hope all the changes I sent are saved. Thank you very and please let me know if you would like any other information. Waleskasantiagomarques (talk) 00:33, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I should note that I do not receive compensation for editing Ave Pildas' page. Thank you. Waleskasantiagomarques (talk) 04:20, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying. OXYLYPSE (talk) 07:02, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Waleskasantiagomarques (talk) 15:49, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On the page Draft:Ave's America which you created, it indicates that the film was shot by Waleska Santiago. If you are Waleska Santiago, as your username seems to indicate, you do have a conflict of interest with the film and with Ave Pildas in general. As such, you should follow the guidelines at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:15, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clarification. I will delete that section for now. Waleskasantiagomarques (talk) 19:23, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
