Nothing new

Hi there ARGYLE, how's it going?

Some months ago, i noticed you warned User:Antony1821 about several things, including screwing up player position links. Well, what did he do in Moisés Hurtado? See for yourself (here http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Antony1821&diff=447765947&oldid=447715766). In another typical and "polite" action, he removed my message without replying.

Kind regards (hey i'm 1,88 too, so don't you look down on me mister :)) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:47, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Have reported him here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Satori_Son#.28Highly.29_disruptive_user), also telling the admin - who has been highly supportive and helpful to me in the past - to redirect me elsewhere if it was not a proper action from me. "Drop in a line" in his page if you like, regards. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:56, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Good day , here's Antony...Im sorry for these problems i caused but i didn't know how to explain the reasons i change the position of our football player Petar Grbic....Our coach Ernesto Valverde uses him oftenly as a right Midfielder , so I thought that this is his natural position...

I have been working on this article. I don't know if you have anything to add to it. I think the paragraph there on the Plymouth episode says quite enough!--EchetusXe 23:16, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Stats would be helpful!--EchetusXe 23:19, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Waiting on references for the Burnley and Hull stats and my footnote needs improving. But other than that I think it looks pretty good at the moment. If I had a picture or two I could push on to FA.--EchetusXe 15:12, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi there ARGYLE, VASCO here,

really odd that i get no reply from you, even though i have reported the user to an administrator. He has replied, saying the stuff needs to be discussed at WP:FOOTY (it has), now it would be a good chance to drop a line in User:Satori Son's talkpage, to create a consensus, that is if you still want to do this (i want).

If you don't, then i'll be really baffled as to what all the fuss was about...I also feel he's very disruptive and is either mocking us or very wiki-illiterate, but i've done my part. Attentively - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 09:50, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

I would do what Satori Son suggests because the two discussions that previous took place on WPF didn't get much feedback (one and two). If you really have had enough then report him at WP:AIV and if that doesn't get anywhere then it can be taken to WP:ANI. Given the user's history it wouldn't be hard to provide plenty evidence of possible vandalism and general disruption. Olympiacos' article is in a bit of a state so I'm going to ammend a few things now. Argyle 4 Lifetalk 06:04, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Request for TFA support

Hello again. I haven't crossed paths with you much lately. I come with a humble request. :^) I've nominated the 2010 USOC final for TFA on October 4th here. If you get time in the next few days, please add your support. It'll need it I expect. Very low points. --SkotyWATC 15:56, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Citation templates

I'm about to tackle the "S" section in the glossary, unless you were already part way through it? —WFC13:31, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

It was a rubbish job, but given how strongly I am against splitting lists I felt I had to take the lead. I count 45 unsourced statements and another 10 or so where I'm not happy with the quality of the source. Once those are dealt with we should be ready for peer review or FLC. —WFC14:01, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
I don't suppose you have any idea on how to source the remaining nine statements tagged with [citation needed]? I can find hundreds or thousands of sources that mention each one, but am struggling to find anywhere that explicitly states what the phrases mean.
Glad to see things are marginally improving for Argyle by the way. As Cliftonian said a while back, a lot of very poor teams have spent years scrapping for their lives in that division. If you can stay up this year you should hopefully be over the worst. —WFC20:30, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Franz Beckenbauer

I have no idea why you would revert a more complete statistics table of Franz Beckenbauer. It includes 2 missing seasons that was never added before, all of his DFB-Pokal matches and matches from the Intercontinental Cup. I know I forgot the last season that he was with the New York Cosmos. But that was only a matter of adding it. 174.93.24.202 (talk) 21:52, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I came across harshly. But I just think it's a superior and more complete table of his career. 174.93.24.202 (talk) 22:28, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Fair enough. I will say though that it does need to be reliably sourced. Argyle 4 Lifetalk 09:07, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

I am unaware that the statistics table have a MOS guideline. Please show me where it is. Kingjeff (talk) 15:42, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi there ARGYLE, VASCO here,

the man just could not resist it, the article was deleted, Ilori plays his first match - and only god knows if HIS ONLY - in Primeira Liga, bam! Re-created! Yes, he passes notability no doubt, but it's like you once said, why create these tons of articles on players no one in England - and many in Portugal i bet - is interested in?

Ah, FYI, the "great" Fábio Sturgeon still stands...after three months of being created, his professional input is THE SAME - one minute in the Taça da Liga. Of course, i am not going to discuss this with Algrim, i'm not a sucker for punishment :)

Attentively, happy week - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 17:34, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

  • Sorry to have bothered you, won't happen again. Just one last thing (remember you're helping WP, not me): could you check Alain Goma's statistics chart? I think there is a mistake in display at its very bottom, but i can't see what it is. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:44, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
I noticed that he had recreated Ilori. It's all about quantity and not quality with Alex. I've fixed Goma's statistical table. The row for Al-Wakrah had rowspans when it shouldn't have had any. Argyle 4 Lifetalk 00:50, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
More from Algrim: Zé Diogo, 16 years of age, 10 minutes in Liga de Honra and...voilá, WP article! Seriously, when is this chap going to be "put on trial" for his actions? --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:32, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi there ARGYLE, VASCO here,

if i knew you would take such offense ("...i don't care anymore. Do as you wish.") i would not have done anything in the article man, only thought i was helping...

bit by bit: 1 - "no impact". Yes it's true, not my opinion (and i did not even write it down), his best season was 27 games and 7 goals in Segunda División; 2 - box. it hurts the eye, and i thought it looks better all lined up, even though i know the box you input is common procedure. Had no business messing with it, have reverted me; 3 (related to 1) - is it common to write ALL the clubs he played for in intro (i knew about int.recognition)? Isn't that what CLUB CAREER is for? As you well put it, "key information" in lead is good, is it key that he played 13 games for CD Numancia and eight for Celta de Vigo? His career was spent practically all in England, and you removed just that from intro...

As i put forth in 2), i have tried to reach a compromise with my last edit. Again, sorry for any incovenience, happy weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 21:40, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Newsflash!! I noticed i, on the other hand, removed international stuff from the lead. Sorry my bad, have reinstated it, cheers again! - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 21:56, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Help

Hi there ARG, VASCO "here",

i would not come here to bother you if i knew how to do this (especially after our last "run-in") but, as i saw you do that for several teams, to awesome completion:

can you please create the VARZIM SC PLAYERS (or FOOTBALLERS, don't know why the difference exists) category? Played more than 10 seasons in Primeira Liga, has several players in this site.

Attentively, thank you very much in advance, happy week - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:35, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

  • I have added pretty much of the players. Problem is i don't want to "enter" the remainder because then i know i will also cleanup the article, am getting a bit tired for the day. I have only took care of the Portuguese players, could you add the others (only five or so)? Thanks in advance, cheers! - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:57, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Socks and other types of wear

Hi there ARGYLE, VASCO here,

left a note in Pepe (footballer born 1983)'s talk, after your last input. Yes, pathetic at best. Also, User:Antony1994 is really not helping his case with "charmers" like this (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Sir_Sputnik#Hello). About the former, the article continues to be vandalized even though i asked for page protection last week (my reputation i think).

Kind regards, have a great weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 14:35, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Indeed. I notice that the user has been blocked now for sock puppetry but no doubt he'll be back. It's just a case of being vigilant, same thing with Pepe. I watched the match last night and he certainly doesn't help himself, it's really sad, but still no excuse for vandalism. I'll keep the page on my watchlist. Argyle 4 Lifetalk 17:21, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

According to the nominator the subject of the article now meets WP:NFOOTBALL. Could you please revisit your !vote? Armbrust, B.Ed. Let's talkabout my edits? 10:23, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi there ARGYLE, VASCO here, longtime no "see",

in case you were wondering (you must be, saw it in one of your last summaries), he is retired. Getting old our guy (33) and last year in Gondomar S.C. did not go all that well (one game). Maybe Valecambrense was just a trial or similar, i browsed the (Portuguese) web and found NOTHING (odd), but both Portuguese-speaking links say "CURRENT CLUB - RETIRED", and both do not include Valecambrense as a club he represented at any stage (hence i repeat, maybe he trialled for them and did not make the cut, or he signed then "un-signed").

Cheerio, have a great weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 21:07, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi there ARGYLE, VASCO here,

isn't it about time something is done about this "user"? Tons and tons of non-notable articles, deleted, does not talk to a living soul, FOUR YEARS and counting. Last one: i asked him for the umpteenth time to please add the bigger dash in the players' infobox - he goes and creates one in Tiago Mesquita, which dashes do you think he used? S-M-A-L-L!

Lost for words, really don't know what can be done about this situation. Maybe look the other way as he's no vandal? I'm getting a little paranoid over here maybe man :(

Happy weekend, keep it up - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 00:45, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Creating absolute basic stubs like Fábio Alexandre Silva Nunes when there are plenty of sources available is unacceptable but this user has a history of not talking to anyone. If he won't listen then you should take it further and let them decide the course of action. I've been strapped for time recently. Argyle 4 Lifetalk 15:46, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Western League

I am indeed in possession of that book – the 1903–04 to 1908–09 Western League seasons are all on pages 82–83. That's the book I've used for the articles on those seasons, and all the other WFL season articles as well. This book and the others in the series are a pretty decent tool for all of England's various non-league tables going way back. Did you want me to put the page numbers in the articles? :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:18, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

No worries :) I haven't yet finished starting all the WFL season articles (very long job!), but once each season has an article, I'll go back through them all and tidy them up. I'll add the page numbers then, you're right, it'll make the refs a little clearer. Good luck with the Plymouth seasons, that sounds like a fair bit of work! And yes, as if it wasn't close enough to doom for Argyle, it was even closer for City! Hard times in the South West. If we get relegated it'll be tough, but fingers crossed, and for Argyle too. Cheers! Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:06, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, there are some very busy guys in the football wikiproject – they make us all look lazy! Yep, McCormick is on board and Hayles is back, and neither are really getting paid at the moment, so fair play to them. We need top scorer Yetton to come back fit soon, and we might be OK. I think a few years of consolidation might be best for City and Argyle – just keep our heads above water and worry about promotion a bit later on ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:00, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Categories

Hi there A4L, AL "here",

i see that you have been adding several Portuguese league categories in players' articles. Just a small favour if you can, can you add them in the following order (of importance)? 1 - PRIMEIRA LIGA PLAYERS; 2 - SEGUNDA LIGA PLAYERS; 3 - SEGUNDA DIVISÃO PLAYERS.

Thank you very much in advance, keep up the great work and happy week --AL (talk) 17:25, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Skyblueshaun

We had some issued with Shaun last week, he ended up getting blocked for a bit, but has seemed much better after his return. Let's see what he says on the matter...on a better note, nice to see you about, you've been quite at WP:FOOTY lately. GiantSnowman 20:56, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

I hope you don't mind me contacting you about this. A chance remark you made on the Jack Fitchett talk page has inspired me to create a full article for the New Palace Theatre. At present this is in my sandbox, although there is still a lot to add about the Dance Academy, including expanding the closure section and then bringing it up to date, including the owner's threat to convert it into a mosque. Not living anywhere near Plymouth (I've only ever been there once), I cannot get there myself. I could do with a little help to clarify two points; I have said that the city coat of arms is shown on the apex of the building above the two Spanish soldiers - I'm sure I read this somewhere but can no longer find a source. Can you confirm that this is correct? One of the videos shows what look like copies of playbills and programmes set in the pavement outside the theatre. I can just see them on Google streetview. Can you confirm this too? If you can upload any photographs to confirm these points, I would appreciate it. My aim is to try to get this article on the Front Page, at least in the DYK section. I will be away on holiday for three weeks from next weekend, so I will probably hang fire in uploading the finished product until after my return. Thanks for indulging me. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 10:20, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

I have now completed the article which is at New Palace Theatre, Plymouth. Thanks for your assistance with some of the sources. I'll think about whether or not to put this up for DYK. I don't have a lot of time before I go away to do the QPQ review, and DYK can be a pain sometimes and rather "hit & miss". Some reviewers seem to pass articles on the nod while others can be extremely pedantic and complain about references, "close paraphrasing", use of YouTube and Facebook as sources etc. If you, or another user want to put it up I wont stand in your way! Cheers. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 10:42, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
