Walter G. Kortschak is a former managing director of the private equity firm, Summit Partners. He is also a member of the California Institute of Technology Board of Trustees.[1]. Since 2013, Kortschak has served as executive chairman of SignalFire, a data-driven venture capital firm using a unique talent-focused platform. Kortschak is also a principal at End Cue, a hybrid technology software and film development and production company.[2]

Early life and education

Kortschak graduated from the California Institute of Technology with an M.S. (1982) in engineering. He also holds an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles (1986).[1]

Philanthropy

Kortschak established the Kortschak Scholars Program at Caltech in 2017, a newly established endowment for incoming PhD students in computer science at Caltech. The objective of the program is to launch a new era of scholarship, inquiry, and innovation in the artificially intelligent future.[3]. He also established the Kortschak Center for Learning and Creativity at the University of Southern California[4] in 2010 and endowed the Division Chair in Film and Television Production at the School of Cinematic Arts at USC.[5]
