(Bleach) Soi Fong -> Soifon

Hey! I was thinking about moving Soi Fong's article to Soifon. The reasons are the same I pointed on the discussion page: "As far as I know, the only reason for people be using Soi Fong is because they take her real lastname (Fong, in Fong Shaolin) and apply to the codename. But we know that's not the case, if the codename had a family name on it, Yoruichi would just call her "Soi", not "Soi Fong"... and, well, every official source that shows the romanization of the name (the games and S.O.U.L.s, the character book) use "Soifon", never Soi Fong. I really think the wrong romanization, even being popular, should not be used in Wikipedia."

Most important, the information in S.O.U.L.s book. The name is romanized in big letters. But, before doing this, I thought about coming here and ask your opinion considering you are very influent among wikipedian bleachers and much of the cotributions on these articles are yours.

Zanpakutō

In the manga, they use the words initial and final release, however, when reaching bankai they still say bankai, and also mention shikai. Initial and Final release are used as descriptions in both japanese and american manga, however, bankai and shikai are used as the proper terms. They do not say "final release" to enter bankai, they use the word Bankai. It is the proper terminology in this case. The english is used in paranthesis. However since the words are used in the English manga, they are the terms used when discussing the English version of Bleach, and not "initial and final release" As it may be nice to use the english description words, it is still the terminology used in the english manga. Similar in Naruto where they say in the english manga "ninja technique" to describe ninjutsu, they still use Ninjutsu throughout the rest of the manga. I believe the confusion here is arising from the usage of command phrases for release. Renji probably has the archetypical initial release. When he releases it, he says "Howl, Zabimaru!". Not "Initial release: Howl, Zabimaru!" or "Initial release: Zabimaru!", both of which would work just as well. The same pattern is followed for every other initial release. The command phrase, followed by the sword name.

But then, for some reason known only to the author, for the final release, the format changes. Bankai takes the place of the command phrase, and is followed by the extended sword name. So, where before we had "Howl, Zabimaru!" we now have "Final release: Baboon King Zabimaru". No command phrase. Also, since we translate the command phrases anyway (look at Gin Ichimaru's article), even if Bankai were the command phrase we would still have it phrased as final release.

This does raise the valid point of why we use shinigami rather than a translated form. We do so for consistency, and because it stops arguments over whose translation is "correct". Different groups and fans prefer different translations of the term, God of death, Death god, Reaper, Angel of Death, etc. It was easier to leave it untranslated. The same thing with zanpakutō: Soul slayer, Soul cutter, Soul cutting sword, Soul blade... Since there is no major dispute over the translation of shikai and bankai, we can safely translate them. --tjstrf 21:49, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I just wanted to clear a few things up with you, I have recently started to get into Bleach and I can see you have been working on the Bleach Wikipedia article for a long time and I accept that you probably get tired of new fans like me making edits which you think are too long, too rambling, poorly written and so it goes on.

What's wrong with the bus 332??

Hi, you deleted my contribution to the article List_of_Egged_bus_lines about the bus 332 from Haifa to Nazareth, why? I've never been to Haifa, but i've been to Nazareth and was contributing also to a Wikitravel article about Nazareth, so i had gone to the Egged site and looked it up. Ok, one more question: you changed the spelling of Fureidis to Puryadis. I speak neither Hebrew nor Arabic, but on my map of Israel (purchased in Israel) is Fureidis, and when i actually got there, the people (Jews and Arabs alike) referred to it as Faradis, which slightly surprised me. The first time i saw it rendered as Puryadis was in your correction of the article in question. But you're an Israeli so you should know better, shouldn't you? To clear up what I meant by concise when speaking of refs, refs only need a "name=" field if they are used more than once. So you can do this:

And if they are used more than once, the second ref doesn't need the internal info, but can instead just be used in combination like this:

1. <ref name="example">The 2nd reference</ref>
2. <ref name="example" />

And then, of course:

<references />

Hmmm... popups gives me these rather difficult to read strings that link to the reference's anchor, by number. It's easier to just click on the thing. I don't know if anything's changed code-wise, I just know that it was given as a way to avoid duplicate ref errors on the Administrator's Notice Board a few days ago. (Yet another page I have watchlisted.)

Re: Removal of relevant category

Please don't, actually. The filtering of articles to more specific categories is made in line with the overall structure here. In particular, Category:Battles and operations of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War is a sub-category of Category:Battles of Israel, which is a sub-category of Category:Wars of Israel, which is a sub-category of Category:Military operations of Israel (which will be the new form of the strangely named Category:Israel Defense Forces Operations). Per Wikipedia's categorization guidelines, articles should not, in general, be placed in a parent category if they are already in a child category. Kirill Lokshin 18:32, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

All of those should be on the individual articles rather than on the category itself. In other words, for any operation during that war:

• It is always a battle of Israel.
• It is either a battle of Syria, or a battle of Egypt, or so forth, but not a battle of all of those.

Hence, the only one for which the entire category—rather than individual battles—is guaranteed to be correct is Israel.

(This comes up quite often, actually. For example, Category:Battles of the French Revolutionary Wars is in Category:Battles of France; but, because the battles were fought against different opponents, categories like Category:Battles of Austria and Category:Battles of Russia are placed on the individual articles rather than the category as a whole.) Why would you assume that I could only make contributions to the "Arab-Israeli" articles related to Israel? I appreciate your time in answering my questions one by one, though I respectfully yet fully disagree with a lot of your conclusions. What I would like you to do though before assuming that my edits would be anti-Israel is to actually check out my user contributions. I feel that my work in editing is, just like you described Ramallite's, quite fair, though I share his/her quite low opinion of Israel based on my experience of its treatment of me, and I allow this to show in my commentary on talk pages. RE: WikiProject Israel userbox colors

Hey, Ynhockey. The reason there is a gold boarder is twofold. First of all, I wanted to create uniformity among all the WikiProject:Judaism sister projects. As a member of most of them, it is important to see some sort of commonality among the userboxes. For perspective check out my userpage on which I have a lot of the sister project userboxes. They all look basically the same, except for the blue background that is unique to the Israel project (that was done by a small vote on the box's discussion page) and so I think these should be fairly identifiable colors.

Another reason for a gold border, particularly around one regarding a country is that when flags are displayed from poles on formal occasions, they generally have a gold border.

One of the reasons, I feel, that Israel has its own userbox and wikiproject is that it is necessary. Israel as you well know from your activities in Tzahal (God Bless you for that, by the way) it is vital to defend ourselves against those who seek to destroy us. One of the things that memmbers of WP:Israel do is defend the land of Israel from libel and slander and hate.

Arancars

I posted this in the hollow section as well, but i'll post it here too: I really think there should be character pages for the arancar that went with Grimmjow to the living world. We were pretty much introduced to the arancar during those chapters, even though we had heard about them from kisuke and isshin, and the grand fisher had a rather brief appeareance in which we learned about the arancar zanpaktou release. Still, both Eduardo and Shawlong provided the main details on how the numeros system works as well as demonstrated the actual zanpaktou release. Eduardo was involved in 5 or 6 straight chapters, with hardly anyone else being seen, thats more airtime than any other arancar besides Ulquiorra and Grimmjow. His Volcanica was the first release we saw, and he furthered the character development of Ikkaku, forcing him to release his bankai, which I regard as one of the top moments in the manga thus far. My friend wrote a great article about Eduardo, just to have you guys delete it, causing him to be done with this site. I have been working on one, but I want to make sure this one won't be deleted. If your argument for deleting it were to be "he is dead," well so is luppi, and he has a character page, even though he didnt last as long as Eduardo. Kaien is also dead, and he also had less time than Eduardo. I honestly don't know why any accurate information is deleted, considering you urge people to contribute. Regarding Luppi's text, you didn't write the summary in present tense. Mine has some rather odd phrasing as well, but I tried to keep it in the proper voice. On a side note, I think the Zanpakuto can be better dealt with on the list of Zanpakuto page for individual characters. When you have a complete article to fill, including all the information about the zanpakuto you can is great. Modei'in Illit

I heard that the Israli b of statistics said Modei'in illit is the fastest growing town in Israel. True or false? Chavatshimshon 23:31, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Modi'in Illit is listed as the largest population area in the Judea and Samaria area, but as it is a Local council and not a City, I think Ma'ale Adummim might still be the "largest city." What do you think? Tewfik^Talk 17:13, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

First, you mispelled 'beivushtang' (and i think i mispeled mispelled) but anyway, Yhnockey, maybe if i have time (i'm in the army too.. :) i'll change them all to "photo by beivushtang" instead a signature, i hope that's okay and isn't discouraged by the wikipedian spirit..

I myself have revised some population figures according to more resent estimates of the CBS, and I’m sure I’m no the only one. I believe it is no longer relevant, any thoughts? Thanks!

Road designation

Before I do any more edits I’d like to consult with you on a designation issue, so that we’ll agree on the best curse of action. As you know, the Israeli Ministry of Transport has 4 road designations – כביש מהיר, כביש ראשי, כביש אזורי, כביש מקומי (blue, red, green and brown respectively). What is the best English translation? I was thinking about – Freeway, Expressway (or Main Road), Regional Road and Local Road. Another issue is the use of “Highway” in the title, although we all probably agree that Highway 1, 2, 4 and so on, deserve to be called highways, I’m not sure that Road 443 should remain a “Highway”, and if not a "Highway", then what should it's title be, "Road 443"? Israeli Highways routebox

I think this template needs another name. First of all because route is like highway, so it basically says Israeli highway highwaybox. But there are other reasons, like the fact that it's an infobox. Also it's not according to MOS ('highways' should not be capitalized) etc. I think the name should be: Infobox Israel highway. If you think this is bad, please state your reasons and we will discuss the naming. I will not move the template until you reply. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I have no problem with the renaming and you’re free to move it. I was just modeling it after the UK Motorway Routbox.
