[edit]In the re-write I was pretty sure I had taken out the "played in every game" business. I can see why that would be a problem, and meant to take it out. Would it be ok if I put some stuff about the possibility of a trade this summer (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/os-magic-lakers-notes-0308-20100307,0,2415563.story), or would that be futile because its purely speculation at this point?

- Yeah, I think I'd like to help with that. I have access to plenty of useful sources. Any particular aspects I should research?
- One thing that immediately hits me is the title of the page. The City of Chicago, which defines the boundaries of the community area, calls it "Lake View" (two words): [1] The Encyclopedia of Chicago's entry is also at Lake View. [2] Do you happen to know where it was decided to use "Lakeview" as the title? Zagalejo^^^ 05:24, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- No, I'm not sure where Lakeview comes as opposed to Lake View. If the city uses two words we should change it. I don't have anything specific for you to work on right now, I'm gonna copyedit what I have first. Thanks for your help! CTJF83 chat 07:03, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Your comments
[edit]Hi. I was reading the flagged revisions petition signatures. As I was doing so, I came across this comment that you made:
We're so worried about scaring people off, but flagged revisions might actually attract some quality editors who have been avoiding Wikipedia because of its chaotic nature. A real expert who knows how to write and isn't out to push an agenda is more valuable than 1,000 semi-literate teenagers.
As a teenager myself, I found this remark to be very disrespectful (and almost, ironically, teenager-ish). I am assuming good faith here in that you meant to make a point respectfully, but I kindly request that you reword this remark to be less discriminatory against teenagers. I, for one, believe that some teenagers could do just as well as some adults, or even better, in some things. Thanks! Hamtechperson 00:24, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't talking about all teenagers, just the semi-literate ones. :) I know that there are some teenagers around here who do quality work.
- If my comment bothers you, feel free to remove it yourself, and note in the edit summary that I gave you permission. Zagalejo^^^ 04:21, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

1) Should the birth place be beside the birthday in the intro? i.e. Kevin Wayne Durant (born September 29, 1988 in Washington, D.C.) or should it just be Kevin Wayne Durant (born September 29, 1988) is a..... since the birth place is already listed in the box to the right.
2) If athletes have nickname(s), should it be in bold or regular font with quotes?

Vassilis (Vasileios) Spanoulis
[edit]I assume you don't speak or read Greek? I noticed people changing Spanouli's name back and forth more than once. Basically, I will try to explain it to you. This is his Greek name - Βασίλης. That name in English is Basil. You would write it like this in Latin - Basilis. To then translate that into English you would change the B to a V (however you pronounce the V as a B sound). This then becomes Vasilis. Vasilis is the actual direct translation of his name into English from Greek per the alphabet. Finally, for English you can add another s because most Greek words with one s get translated into two of the letter s. The sound could indicate two in English basically. So finally in English this name could be seen as = Vassilis.
That is a direct Greek to English translation and you can trust me because I know Greek well enough. Now his name could also be Basili -> Vasili -> Vassili but that is based on talking about or to a person in Greek. Like you would say "hey Vassili" (pronounced "hey Bassili"). So it gets very confusing for English speakers that don't know Greek, how the names are done. But basically, his name would be usually written as Vassilis in English and you would talk to him as Vassili, again pronouncing it with a B sound. In American or British English you would write it normally as Vassilis. A Greek speaker can translate it or write as Vasilis when translating it to English. Both are correct.
Now I will try to explain Vasileios. This in Greek would be Βασίλειος. To Latin alphabet this would be written as Basileios. To English then it would be Vasileios. Which is the name that wikipedia is using. Again this name in English would be Basil. Vasileios is what you would call the proper Christian name in English. A variation of the name. The reason FIBA would use Vasileios is because it would be like a proper Christian name. Because of all the different ways to translate from Greek (just like I explained above ) Basilius, Basileios, Vasilios, Vasileus, Basileus, Basilios, etc. are all ways that you could spell that name. But the normal way in American or British English would be Vasileios.
All of the names are the same name in English, or "anglicized" as Basil. So basically, the best way I can explain it would be that let's say someone's name was Richard, but you took Rich or Ricky from that. Or someone's name was Johnathan, but you took John or Johnny from that. The proper name would be Richard or Johnathan. However, some people use the actual name Rich or Richy, or Rick, or Ricky. See all the variations? All those multiple variations are the same thing with Spanoulis' name in Greek. But some people will have the actual name like Rich or Rick or John is there actual name. Like Christopher might be someone's name and they use Chris, but many people are named just Chris for example.
So what FIBA has done is taken his name and given him the proper full Christian name as it would look in British English - Vasileios from Greek Βασίλειος. However, in Greece and in Greek language his name is only and always Βασίλης - Vassilis. I assume this is because FIBA has his birth certificate copy or his passport copy and they do everything formally. So it is correct to call him "Vasileios" if you want, and that name is in fact used by FIBA usually. And it should be a re-direct to his page. As should be Vasilis and Vasilios. I could name ten other names also but normally the most common way to translate it would be Vasileios, Vasilis, Vasilios, and the most accurate way to American or British English would be Vassilis.
Basically, if you spoke his name in Greek it will sound like this "Bassilis". If you ask him what his name is while speaking English to him he will say it is "Bassilis". If you spoke to him in Greek you would say it like "Bassili", and in English you could say the same while talking to him. So while talking or having a conversation with him you would call him by the sound like "Bassili". But you would write it as Vassilis. So in my personal opinion based on my knowledge of the Greek language, I believe that Vasileios is a proper full Christian name and that is why FIBA uses it. It should be a re-direct for his page and so should Vasilis and Vasilios.
However, his page name on Wikipedia should in fact be written as Vassilis. The title of his page article should in fact be "Vassilis Spanoulis". I know Greek is a very confusing language for people that don't know it, and there are many rules and different spellings and alphabets being used here. But I am fairly certain and sure that for the cases of the Wikipedia article the name should be Vassilis. For FIBA Vasileios is probably more correct. But for Wikipedia I would think clearly Vassilis would be more proper. I know it's hard to make sense of that, but it's the best way I can explain it.Euroleague Basketball Project (talk) 05:08, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- Well I think it can be left as Vasileios also. It should be either Vasileios or Vassilis. But the way I see it is you pronounce his name as Bassilis (which is written as Vassilis) and in Greek you would write it as Βασίλης -> Vasilis which goes to Vassilis in British English. So I'm pretty sure that Vasileios definitely should be a re-direct for sure, but I don't think it should be the name on the article. I think Vassilis would be better.Euroleague Basketball Project (talk) 05:26, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Lebron James wiki position should be Guard-Forward or Point-Guard, Small-Forward
[edit]Hey, Lebron James shouldnt be known for only "small forward" in WIKI, he is only "listed" at SF because he started there most of the time, he is more accurately a "POINT-FORWARD", he should be listed PG/SF or simply Guard-Forward.
Lebron was drafted PG/SG 2003, Lebron is basicaly a PG starting the SF and playing the role of a "POINT-FORWARD".
2003-2004 season Lebron started PG the entire season and even SG sometimes. 2004-2005 season Lebron started mostly SG and also PG/SF 2005-2006 season Lebron started mostly SF, sometimes PG. 2006-2007 season Lebron started mostly SF, sometimes PG or would rotate to & play PG during lineub subs often. 2007-2008 season Lebron started mostly SF, sometimes PG or would rotate to & play PG during lineup subs often. 2008-2009 season Lebron started mostly SF, sometimes PG/PF or would rotate to & play PG/PF during lineub subs often (he played even Center 2-3 times this season). 2009-2010 season Lebron started mostly SF, sometimes PG/PF or would rotate to & play PG/PF during lineup subs often.
So... Lebron is not just a SF, lebron is more accurately a "Guard-Forward" or a "PG/SF".
Lebron himself when asked in a interview, he said he considers himself anything, he considers himself a Guard/PG in a Forwards body.
In similar fashion like Penny Hardaway or Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson whom he compares himself to and whom everybody compare Lebron to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Enesjusufi (talk • contribs) 12:51, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
