The result was keep. Article improved, clear consensus to keep. (non-admin closure) Off2riorob (talk) 11:40, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The story did happen, and it was in the news at the time, but I don't see how having your death related to scientology warrants an article, which will linger as a part of the "sum of human knowledge" forever. Fails WP:ONEEVENT, and having an article on this should be considered in light of the event being a suicide. Geschichte (talk) 21:56, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. Received significant coverage in secondary sources [1]. In addition, she was the daughter of a notable individual, a politician and MP in Norway, Olav Gunnar Ballo. I will work to further improve the article. Afterwards, I will make a note here. Thank you, -- Cirt (talk) 22:04, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep for the reasons stated. While it does mostly consist of one event, that event is still receiving notice by secondary sources (in three languages, see the link provided by Cirt) two years after event. Event used as a current significant rhetorical trope by people protesting the church, and one which the church is defending itself against. While I agree that the article itself needs some work, and I look forward to seeing what Curt puts together, it does not deserve to be deleted.Coffeepusher (talk) 22:18, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep Lisa McPherson's death was a one event (deaths usually are) and she died of an embolism. Was this death a suicide or an "induced" suicide? If you are concerned with her family, by all means contact her father. If he doesn't want an article about his daughter up, that would carry considerable weight in this discussion. Keith Henson (talk) 00:22, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Update: I have done some significant improvements to the article, adding information from over 20 sources [2]. There are many additional independent reliable secondary sources to be utilized still. A search for the individual yields over 50 results in secondary source coverage. The secondary source coverage is in multiple different language publications, including English, Norwegian, and French. Her father, Norwegian Parliament member Olav Gunnar Ballo, wrote a book about her, titled: Kaja: 1988-2008, which itself was the subject of secondary source coverage - and this also focused on the individual as well. Note: further improvement, expansion, and quality work on the article will still be ongoing. -- Cirt (talk) 00:41, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep Notability is permanent, and the amount of time since then is irrelevant. This was rightly or wrongly considered of important significance in Norway, and it remains so. DGG ( talk ) 01:30, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. Notable. Although we might think of renaming the article to "Suicide of Kaja Bordevich Ballo" or some such title, given that it is not so much a biography as an article on her suicide (compare Nikki Catsouras photographs controversy, which also started out as Nikki Catsouras). --JN466 01:40, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
