The result was speedy delete. Given the existing article that Rayman60 identified, this is a clear A10, new article duplicating an existing topic. DGG ( talk ) 04:56, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

That this is part of a class project is not a reason to not delete it. If you wish to create a draft of an article, you must do so in your sandbox or risk it being deleted. Article currently has almost no content, has no references. KDS4444Talk 00:28, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- Delete. No content to speak of. Plus a WP:MINNOW to the creator or their teacher for misusing Wikipedia. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:03, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- Userfy. The topic is in theory notable, but a class project still has to fullfil minimum requirements for being in article space. Let's be nice and move the student's work to their userspace. If anyone can ID the teacher, they should be informed of best practices and related stuff from Wikipedia:SUP and friends. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:27, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

- weak keep: I like the fact that they're trying to do this, but this is not the way how. I think the article should be developed in a sandbox (is that the right term? i.e. on-wiki but off encyclopaedia, in draft or user's page), and possibly an experienced editor assist/mentor them. Rather than reject them outright (and deleting it in this manner may feel like procedure for us but for an outsider it can convey the image of a closed shop), we should encourage them. The teacher did mess up by jumping straight in to the article before being ready and even asking us to leave them alone whilst they fumble around, but let's assume good faith, extend the hand of friendship and help them achieve this goal. At the end of it, we could have 20+ kids who understand how to use wiki, what references and neutral/objective tone mean and maybe a couple will stick around and make more contribs to the project. I'm willing to help where I can, i.e. with tone, referencing, formatting etc. Not an expert in the field so may need support with certain bits. Rayman60 (talk) 00:34, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
- Comment - I left a Welcome-Student message on the creator's talk page. Hopefully, it points them in the right direction. As for the article itself, I would err on the side of good faith to be more encouraging and less discouraging. The article's topic itself can meet WP:GNG, given the proper citations (which we can only hope the article's creator has some in mind). If some action has to be taken, I'd suggest Userfy or Sandbox. - Comment - All, I wanted to raise to everyone's attention that a similar article on the exact same topic was recently created. But looking at the bigger picture and seeing similar articles and subsequent AFDs in the last week (i.e. Latino Women and their Migrations to America and Migration from Latin America to Europe), I'm willing to bet all of these are part of the same class activity. Not to mention one of the authors is also named Latinostudies2015. I strongly recommend that someone more knowledgeable than me get to the bottom of this and if at all possible get in touch with the class instructor. I really like the effort, but they should be advised on Wikipedia's guidelines. Making it a more clean process rather than haphazard article creation would make it easier for everyone (Assuming it hasn't already been project-ified). Thanks, all! - Comment - I think my stance has changed somewhat. I do not like the article as it is, and I don't like the fact that it's live. I have attempted to reach out to the editor, they're also aware of the debate here, and are not engaging with other editors or updating us with a response to the issues raised. I would support a Delete now and let them build the article in a sandbox or similar, and then present it. However I've also discovered that there's an article called Hispanic Americans in World War II which is a featured article, and feel that anything worthwhile could be added to that article (however it's a featured article of excellent content so it would be difficult for them).
