This article is written more like an opinion piece than an encyclopedia article, and it has been for a very long time (the essay-like tag has been there for over seven years ). An "Open API" isn't really a standalone topic; it's just a Web 2.0 buzzword (WP:NOTDIC) about making APIs public. I would suggest this article be merged into Open data, but I don't think there's any content here that could be merged without having to be substantially revised or rewritten due to the unencyclopedic tone.
