Sitting unsourced since 2006, I don't think Pierre is notable.
He seems to have at least existed, per this 1941 patent, so likely not a hoax: https://patents.google.com/patent/US2477637A/en?inventor=Mercier+Pierre&assignee=Pierre+Mercier&before=priority:19440101
I couldn't find anything else worthwhile that proved notability, but Google results are seriously smudged by mirrors and other people with the same name. wizzito | say hello! 22:59, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

- Delete I checked French wikipedia. If he was a notable Frenchman maybe there was more info and sources there. I did find another Pierre Mercier who died in 1944, but they're barely notable, and nothing mentioned about being an engineer. [1] -- Bob drobbs (talk) 04:26, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
