This collaboration fails WP:MUSICBIO, if that even applies to a fictional band, and WP:GNG, as I can't find any coverage of the group or their album. Multiple members of the group have articles, so there's no valid redirect target. Lennart97 (talk) 19:43, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

- Keep by default. The nominator notes that several of the members of the group have articles, so there is not a good redirect target...and the solution is to make it a redlink? That is actively hostile to reader understanding. Even if all we had were pure discographical resources, redlinking would not be desirable, but as it happens, we also have coverage: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. Chubbles (talk) 00:44, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for finding these sources! It seems like the album, not so much the "fictional group" per se, is notable, so maybe it would be best to rewrite and move to The Art of Picking Up Women. I won't withdraw right away just to see if anyone else has useful input, if that's okay.
- As for the "no valid redirect target" part; this would be a WP:XY situation. If there's no article on The Dix, would the reader rather be redirected to Prince Paul, to Mr. Len, or to Don Newkirk, all equally valid in principle? There's no objective way to determine that. But I guess that doesn't really matter if the article is kept. Lennart97 (talk) 11:49, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
- In general, I tend to support the retention of an article about a creator over an article about that creator's works. That said, while I think "fictional band" is not quite accurate here, this is clearly a sort of one-off goof record from a set of notable musicians who never toured or performed together under the name (as far as I know), so in this specific case it might make more sense at the album title. - Delete Fails on both WP:GNG and WP:MUSICBIO Louie (talk) 07:24, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
- But I noted several sources above which should be sufficient for WP:MUSIC. Also, side note on the WP:XY issue - this isn't a case like "law and justice", where searching will bring you articles on law or justice that satisfy the user need. Searching for "the dix" will much more likely get you non-musical noise articles (Fort Dix, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Dorothy Dix, etc.), rather than lead to finding information at Prince Paul or Mr. Len's articles. I just don't see any good case for turning this title into a redlink, but again, I'm kind of agnostic as to whether to redirect it to The Art of Picking Up Women. - @Rrts: Could you elaborate on your vote? What do you think of the sources brought up by Chubbles? Lennart97 (talk) 16:41, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- There is no depth in the article. It is basically a three sentence statements with no valid independent references. That of course compromises WP:GNG as well WP:MUSICBIO. Louie (talk) 17:39, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- But that's a WP:SURMOUNTABLE problem. Current status is irrelevant to notability. Chubbles (talk) 23:09, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

- Keep per Chubbles, or at worst merge with Prince Paul (producer), as he seems to be the primary member of the project based on the sources above. —Torchiest talkedits 17:36, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
- Keep per Chubbles. I agree with Lennart97 that there is no objective redirect, so if this page is deleted, the group and album should be included on each bluelinked member's page. Heartmusic678 (talk) 12:16, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Torchiest and Heartmusic678: If kept (and it does look like a consensus for keep at this point) do you have any opinion on whether to rename to The Art of Picking Up Women and center the page on the album? That seems the most sensible to me, as the few sources focus on the album itself more so than on the one time collaboration that created it. Lennart97 (talk) 12:28, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Lennart97: If the page is kept, I think the rename and refocus are justified. It would also prevent a re-nomination for deletion. Heartmusic678 (talk) 12:45, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
